I'm sure a good number of you know about this already, so this (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/8-bit_Theater) is for those who don't. It's an online, public edited encyclopedia article about the comic; just one of an ever-increasing number of articles, done in a different (and hopefully not as opinionated) manner as everything2.
So, for those interested (especially in-depth folks like AscendedPikachuZero, for example), please check it out and improve it, if you feel the urge. Thank you.

If I'm not mistaken, some of it was written by yours truly. Then again, much of it has been revised and simplified by others, and much as been added. But i've been their enough to proclaim it's greatness. Need some info? Forget those idiots at webster, rely on your fellow websurfers, It's Wikipedia!

zing...
I remember when the article was basically "Brian uses Photoshop and Google" and the names of the LWs. I added the "Fighter 'No Cob' Mcgee" bit to the quotes section. Maybe Brian can add his own tidbits sometime...
I'm glad the article is getting an overhaul it's been long due for one.

Isn't Sarda just called Sarda? Someone said he is Sardathusra, that was the title in one comic, but is it his name?
It is if it is funny. Wow, that was one weak sentence. I forgot to add, I just had to add a quote to Lich. It's almost as good as my RM quotes.
We really should make a gag section on the article.
Edit: Just incase people don't know there's a wikiquote for 8-Bit http://en.wikiquote.org/wiki/8-Bit_Theater
You can dd in your favorite lines. If I don't get lazy or occupied this Weekend I may go through and tidy/add to it.

Is it really fair to say that Drizz'l has a "completely clear head"? I guess it's much more clear than those of the other Dark Warriors, but still.

You mean like running gags?

ok, i added the quote where BM chokes on his taffy and two conversations:
1. between two dwarf guys
2. between all light warriors and they are in elven prison and RM agrees to do dag"..
the thing i am wondering is if brian added this article. i never knew the full names of the characters and i bet most others didnt either. but anyway that article is really excellent!
also, who is the onion kid?? i dont remember ever reading about him..
also, if kevin sigmund or pierre(fuitad, right??) want to, they can add their own stuff in on the website because there currently isnt any info. ughhh, i have a feeling i have too much time on my hands..

Onion kid is that child that BM abuses on a regular basis. (http://www.nuklearpower.com/daily.php?date=050426)

With the names I've always had the slight feeling as if someone might have taken a throwaway joke or two too seriously. Especially with the Sardathustra thing. But then again I don't write the comic. Briiiiaaan...?

If you need to know, I was the one who updated White Mage's bio and added the quote from the episode where BM gets lung-taffy. But I guess someone already saw it and edited it for me. Hooray for whoever.

He was assigned to guard White Mage on her mission, and killed when ordered to attack Kary, the Fiend of Fire. According to Brian, he is permanently dead, much to the dismay/denial of the character's fans.

Is there proof? I thought the title was just a joke of Nietzsche's "Thus Spake Zarathustra", not Sarda's name.

I don't mean to be presumptious, but I did a bit of editing as well.
In the side characters portion, I added Jeff since he was the main reason the LW's have "The Deathtrap" and also is the unofficial 5th light warrior. :p

Y'know if anyone could word it in a fairly entertaining manner, I'd suggest you put an entry in for Hank & the Messenger. The TRUE running gag of the comic. (Yes, that was a bad pun for those of you keeping score at home.)

Huh, I was thinking the same thing.
So I did it. It's kind of long-winded and may not be phrased the best way, so, y'know, all you people can feel free to change it.
EDIT: Lordy, Thief has NO quotes in his section... *searches archives for some*

Try adding: "Yeah, I steal souls and secrets" Or would that go under conversations for BM's contribution to it?

How about the classic "Your GP or your HP" and "the Thief's almanac..."
And Jeff isn't an honorary Light Warrior. One of the LWs (RM or Thief) asked if he could be, but the question was never answered.
Oh, and I added a reference for Bahamut.

I slightly fixed Hank & the Messenger's entry because Hank's an Elite Royal Guard, and not an Executioner. I also added a First Seen bit, which could be added in for every character, if anyone has the desire to do such...

They're nowhere near as minor as Jeff.
Plus Berserker kicked an unholy amount of arse. Brian should bring him back.
Heck, maybe Ranger and Berserker could be the next ones to protect White Mage.

I doubt it would invovle Ranger. Remember Thief's bending of truth and (possibly) reality that resulting in Beserker attacking Ranger?

Well, let's face it, White Mage walking around by herself isn't funny. Take a look at what's funny: Gaping character flaws. Seeing as how due to political correctness, a woman in forms of humor can have NO character flaws except for possibly a short temper with the idiot males around her, WM can't be too funny of a character without a male there, IMO.

"Wikipedia article thread" does not equal "silly squabble thread." ElfLad and Kelly, you both get a warning; not only for that, but also (and foremost) for wasting space with it. No discussion, I've thought about it.
The rest of you (I'm kinda looking at netrider and Kima, but not so you'd really notice), please stay on topic. Thanks.

The update's looking good. Not because of the name "Other Warriors," I assure you. *whistles*
I still kinda get the feeling the character entries - not yours, Kelly, but, for example, those for the Light Warriors - are a tad too long at times. Oh well, maybe I'll get around to do something about that at some point.

I'd like to contest Fighter's alignment. I think he's more neutral good, than lawful good. He's not commited to good, he's just nice.
Meister
08-13-2005, 02:58 AM
There's that, Brian. There's that.
But I still think there should be less story stuff in them and more concentration on their characters. The whole armor/armoire story in Fighter's entry could probably be reduced to half a sentence. It just doesn't seem to fit in there, more like somebody really wanted to retell it (don't get me wrong, it's a fine idea to get people hooked, but, y'know, a time and a place).

They might be following a wikiprotocol. I do believe it's common for wikipages to have a sister page to deal with the characters in the fiction. Atleast, they have it for harry potter, metal gear, and just about every other thing I saw.
