They believe that the Internet is nothing but EVIL. and that it should be shut down.

I just find it funny that this petition is online.

What do you think? Could the internet possibly be as bad as they imply?

EDIT: Looking at it again, it just looks a tiny bit too extreme to be real. What do you think? I hope it is a joke, but it could be someone who genuinely believes in this sentiment?

Very ironic to find it online. Why are they using the very resource they think is evil... And you can't ban the internet, there will always be someone, somewhere with a server and lots of free time.

It does have over a thousand signatures. Still nothing compared to the internet's supporters, but still.

Oh, c'mon... What is this!? Some kind of "The Patriots" wanna be movement?

In either case, this is obviously some stupid joke. It'll very, very, very, most likely never happen.

It does have over a thousand signatures. Still nothing compared to the internet's supporters, but still. If you open the signature list, you'll see they're extremly full of spam, and incoherent mostly. They aren't being serious, and are just making fun this kind of stupidity. (http://www.petitiononline.com/mosquito/petition.html) .

Should have taken the time to look.... People really have nothing better to do, huh?

To be sure we would need to meet the person that wrote this. Otherwise I don't think we could ever find out if its real or not.
It looks like a joke, but you hear of people saying even more ridiculous things than this.

The irony... it hurts... But this can only be a joke. As said.

By the way, this should have been put in Off Topic as this holds no real discussion, or does it?
My thoughts. Mods decide.

I dig their sense of humor. Reminds me of one of the radio mp3s on the game GTA3 where a guy called into a radio station on a phone to protest the use of phones as a destructive element in society that must be banned.

Melfice speaks, we listen! (Moving.)

Edit: also, just so everyone knows, we'd really rather that y'all didn't link to online petitions (http://forum.nuklearpower.com/showpost.php?p=92930&postcount=12). This thread's all right because spazzhands isn't trying to get anyone to sign it, but everone knows online petitions are pretty goofy -- let's not make a habit of pointing and laughing at the obvious. :)

Sounds like Citizens are Raging Against more than just Phones, eh? Probably a joke, but then again, you never know.

I interviewed Black Mage and Fighter about this.
:bmage: This is the most idiotic thing I've heard of since...the last time Red Mage made a plan
:fighter: As long as they don't ban swords I'm OK with this.

If he genuinely believed it he would be lashing out about it to all his friends and not be actually using the internet to post an online petition.

I have a feeling that they were joking too, Biggman. I know I was when I signed it.
