And not to mention that this might belong in the Video games.
Ebay, or Ubid MIGHT have a psp somewhere for a few bucks less, but you'll probably have to wait until demand goes down, and by that time they'll be planning to realese the next generation of portable gaming.
And besides, Psp are ridicuylusly expensive, and so are the games.
P.s. you still haven't edited your post, even though you replied an apologie...

Indeed, the PSP is like $250 right now. And you're probably not going to find any price below $225, unless it's used or something. If you can wait 6 months, do so. The price will shoot down to probably like $200, at the very highest. Then you can buy an extra game with that $50.
This has been an unbiased post from Link1209.

then again, PSP is made by Playstation. is it really worth it? Maybe going with a DS would be smarter, and more checkbook friendly.

Nikose: To answer your question, YES. It IS DEFINATELY worth it.
I have one. When they say that the graphics were near-PS2 quality, they weren't BSing. It's rather hard for me to tell the difference.
The sound quality (at least from the headphones, coming from the system itself is iffy for music) is excellent. And if you have a 512 MB mem stick duo (like I do) you can hold almost 8 hours of music. Which comes in handy during an 8 hour work day.
Speaking of which, I've used my PSP for music on work days (all day) on multiple occassions, and I've only ever gotten my battery down to 34%. Battery issues? Sure. Whatever.
Haven't tried movies yet. Planning to get Monty Python and the Holy Grail and Gone in 60 Seconds though. I'll probably get National Treasure sometime soon too.
EDIT: Oh, and can't argue about the checkbook friendly thing. I've already spent over $500 on my PSP, and only have 4 games.

Not to mention if you're smart and don't upgrade the firmware beyond 1.50, there's a whole mess of homebrew software that can be run on the PSP, which I recently discovered over the weekend. I'd say it's completely worth the purchase.

Not to mention that the PSP just doesn't have enough out for it, yet. Not enough to make it worth its price tag right now, at least. What games I do like for it are a lot of fun, especially Lumines, but they aren't worth it at the moment.

Eh, I've managed to have fun with a few of the retail games out there. The emulation aspect makes me really glad I bought it, and the video/music capabilities are nice if I'm on a long car trip and I wanna bring a few anime episodes along with me or something.
But I can see how many people might not want to shell out for it just yet. I'm just one of the types that can't resist the urge to buy things like this right away.

Amen to that. Heck, I'm famous at my EB store for my weekend shopping. They know I'm going to arrive at some point on Saturday and buy what cool, new stuff they got.
I'm probably just griping about the PSP not having much to go for it initially because I haven't done anything to take full advantage of what it can do. Then again, I've never needed it for more than 30 minutes or something. One day, I will get around to exposing myself to the PSP's full power.

Damnit Nikose! I work my ass off making sure I answer the question at hand and keep my own bias out of the post, and then you do the very thing that I was trying to prevent :P

your crazy i dont know why people cant wait whats wrong with waiting i ask you WHAT

Because there's such a thing as "waiting too long."
Besides, aren't you the one who really wants the PSP? Why wait for something that we can have now? No one should be judged for going out there and getting it now regardless of the fact that it might be cheaper later. I've hated not having a job or an allowance or anything. Only on Christmas did I get games that I wanted, and while that was when my mother was particularly generous, it still wasn't enough. I was always waiting for this game or that one, and promising that one day when it was possible, I'd do something about it so that I would never have to wait for games anymore. Sure, the money that I make in my job doesn't buy every game I've ever wanted, but it's many times more than what I used to get. In less than five years, I've gone from eight games to more than six hundred, from one console to a dozen. I don't even wanna go into how long it would've taken to get these things relying on a white Christmas. I know, it's pretty extreme as an example, but I was really, really tired of waiting. My friends always talked about what cool games they had.
Shawn: "Yeah, I really think the GF system in Final Fantasy VIII is badass."
Justin: "So when Ivy wins, she does this victory where you can see the fat jiggle on her ass."
...And in spite of how bizarrely perverted Justin is, I hated having to wait while they had games and consoles that I didn't. It was so very frustrating and depressing, like all those sex stories I heard from my co-workers when I was deployed ["I'm single."], but that's a story I'd rather not go into.

Sony. PSP is made by Sony. Aaagggh. ~_@`
Y`know, most of this topic is price tag, price tag, price tag. Guess what, NTSC people? You get it cheaper than what us PAL people will, and much earlier too. $250? *pssh* That's cheap for a new release game system, even if it is Sony, and a handheld for that matter. No, we're looking at something around $350, $400 for added "conversion costs" or whatever they're willing to call it.
Then again, what's an extra $150 for a brand spankin' new, black slick n' sexy Portable PlayStation!
PS: AC Power Adaptors are PSP's sex slaves. Use them at home to your battery-operated advantage. :D
