View Full Version : 8 Bit Theater - WoW Guild (?)

Hey there, people.
Now, as far as I'm aware, 8BT does not have a Guild on WoW. I could easily be wrong, and I'm waiting to be corrected.
However, if that is the case, I think it was about time it was fixed. I really like 8BT. I really like WoW. I -don't- like annoying people who grudingly get along with you because you're the rez guy and hes the tankzor. What I do like is people I can relate to. As I said before, I like 8BT. So do you guys. Who would have thought we'd have so much in common?
I just want a group of people I can hang out with and just have fun. Raids, helping out the newbies, quests and the like. Just a cool community of 8BT fans to hang out with. Its like a vision.
Although It looks like a good idea, not all plans get off the ground (Damn you, Wright brothers!). In order for us to even get started on an idea like this, We need a number of people to sign that crazy parchment that creates the guild.
If you like the idea of hanging out with a community of 8BT fans such as yourself, then we need to work out a couple of things.
Firstly - Alliance or Horde?
While I enjoy the formality of Stormwind, and the shiney shiney armour of the stormwind militia, I cannot deny that I feel more enticed to scream 'FOR THE HORDE!'. Plus, Dwarves are really fat gnomes in disguise. Oh noes!
(Edit: Should we form the 8BT WoW guild and then choose to accept the VGCats challenge, the faction will be The Alliance.)
Secondly - Server.
Now, I am aware that both CAD and VGcats have guilds on the same server, but I fear for the stability of the Dark Iron server with both of those massing armies on either side. (I believe CAD have already had a server crash during one of their mass raids... Coincedence!? I think Not!) So, some server suggestions would be nice.
(Edit: Should we form the 8BT WoW guild and then choose to accept the VGCats challenge, the server will be set to Greymane.)
With that sorted, thats pretty much it - Leave me some feedback, tell me what you think. I personally leap and bound with merriment at the thought of an 8BT group of awesomeness, but my dancing fetish can't persuade the masses. (Until the professor finishes my hypno-shoes... Then I will RULE THE WORLD!)
Still, Do tell me what you think.

I read just a moment ago that a representitive from the Cult of Kruglor has made an official challenge to 8BT WoW players on the Greymane server, thusly saving the Dark Iron server from dying completely, and still allowing us to continue a Webcomic War! (Friends on friends, of course - I love VG, although its on a PVE server, so the challenge is kind of... boring. still.) I say, should we decide to form this guild, we take up their challenge. Of course, I hold this to a vote - I don't speak for everyone, and wouldn't like to. (Until I become dictator of Russia.)
Parra.
O, btw, Cult of Kruglor = teh suxor LOL LOL!!!11
P.s. Apologies for the double post. Lack of sleep = carelessness.
SUPER Edit: I've been monitoring the Greymane server for a while now, and it's becoming apparent that even without 8BT, the server population is maxed out. I will talk to the CoK, see if we can do anything about it.

O, btw, double posting = teh dumbzorz. please be mindful of this in the future.
I return to WoW in a week, and i intend on taking the CoK up on thier challenge on the Greymane server. its my hope that we can get a good sized guild going, as i know theres a number of people on the NPF who play WoW.
the problem in forming an NPF group, at least in my experience, is two fold. One, when WoW started, people were scattered to the wind in the way-too-many servers. getting people to roll up another alt on another server to play with another group of people got tedious pretty quickly. this was made worse by problem number two: the NPF players seem to be rather unorganized. KefkaTaran and i treid getting an 8-bit super group going in CoH, but we only managed to get maybe three or four NPF'ers (other than ourselves) to join up.
perhaps this can change, i'm certainly willing to give it a try; although not as leader, things don't seem to go well when i'm in command.

I would love to accept the challenge handed to us by the VGC forumites. Also, I think it'd be good for all us NPFers who've reached endgame to start anew, with friends and a common enemy. It would be most enjoyable, methinks.
Now, as for a name, I'm not sure. "The Light Warriors" immediately came to mind, but that sounds rather generic to me. Maybe we could incorporate our nuklear-power sources into the guild name somehow?

Hahahaha, The Light Warriors. I love it. Next thing you know, we'll have a horde rival guild called The Dark Warriors. Lead by a tauren that's afraid of imps.

I was thinking along the lines of the following:
Cult of Black Mage
Survivors of the Atomic Age
Dark Warriors
Nuklear Powered Transformers
Imp Horde
Deathosaurus Wrecks
08-21-2005, 01:38 AM
i'm down with the light/dark warriors, or simply NPF. or even 8-Bit. but whatever.
also, according to preliminary intel, the CoK (hahaha...cok...) have 65 characters already. now, i dono if those are 65 individual players, or four people with 16 alts each; but in any case we're gonna need re-enforcements. ill post something on the 8-bit Live Journal group asking for recruits, anyone have any other ideas?
edit: confirmed 82 characters, 72 players

Count me in, at least for as much time as I can spare apart from all my other alts. I've rolled up a druid on Greymane. Look up "Dev" if that guild gets off the ground.

08-21-2005, 12:45 PM
Before anyone jumps onto greymane, we're looking into moving the fight to another server, because Greymane is already full and thee's no way in hell we'd both fit on that server.

Whatchu talkin' 'bout? ... well yeah, actually, I see that it's listed on the realm status as a queued server, but I was able to hop right on last night and roll up, no problems. I don't really think it's been filled with players already, since it was listed as "new" on my list when I switched. They capped Eredar too--another server I play on--for no apparent reason for a while, even though our population was only at "medium". They might want to save the space for character transfers or something.

Guys, it's a brand new server, no matter who's on it, it'll be "qued up" for the next few weeks, it'll eventually die down and settle up, so I think it might be healithier to just focus on your structure and get the guild formed, by the time you guys are gready Greymane will be stable.

This says Greymane = High pop
Plus we're looking Boulderfist since its not only Low pop, but PVP to boot.

I currently don't have WoW, but I plan to have it soon. When I do, I think I'd be interested in joining an NPF guild.
Edit: I would definitely prefer a PvP server. Horde or Alliance, don't care.

i certainly would enjoy a proper PvP server, and if we can find one with no wait, that'd be good too. of course this means the CoK would have to do some migration, which is pretty hard to convince people to do.

This says Boulderfist population > Greymane population. And neither are really that packed. I think Seraphna's right; the crowds will thin out after a bit.
But I'm just pointing that out. I totally agree with all the arguments being made. A PvP server would be better (even a PST one if possible ^_^). But as DW said, it's not going to be easy to get VGCats peeps to move over.

Yeah, I get where the CoK are coming from, but still - if its a high pop, not much we can do about it, really? and plus, PVP modules are much more suited for our NPF vs CoK battles, rather than their PVE server that is greymane. If PVP is something we can manage to neogiate, perhaps the least most populated server of them all - Kelecgos.

I'll be getting WoW soon, and an 8-bit guild would be awesome!
And, just a question, is there a penalty for death in WoW besides having to run back to your corpse?

Not really. You rez with about half health if you run back to your corpse, and if you choose to do it in the graveyard instead, you get rez sickness for 10 minutes and your armor takes a 25% hit to durability. Once you get into the higher levels, that can get pretty expensive.

Anyway guys - This isn't about playing against CoK anyway, really. Sure, it'd be fun to do so, but this is about setting up a community of 8BT fans to play together, not primarily for playing against the other webcomics. If it turns out to be too much of an inconvience to play on the same server as the CoK, we'll just pick a PVP server and kick someone else's ass! Right? Right.
That being said, i think it was about time we decided on a name. So far, the suggestions are as follows:
The Light Warriors
Cult of Black Mage
Survivors of the Atomic Age
Dark Warriors
Nuklear Powered Transformers
Imp Horde
NPF (Nuklear Power Forums)
8-Bit Theater
And, Should we not be able to play against VG on greymane, we'll have to take a vote on Alliance or Horde.
Leave your votes under any messages you make from this point on in Bold, Italic and Underlined.
Thankies!

Could any of you WoW players post the minimum and reccomended system requirements for me?
I'm not sure if I need to upgrade my PC or not.
My Votes:
Name: The Light Warriors
Alliance or Horde: Alliance (This was really influenced from the name)

I'd be interested in joining a NPF guild. I'd vote Alliance and The Light Warriors.

I vote for horde. I'm holding off until Sept. 6th, the Tuesday after Labor Day in the US, to create the guild. Keep voting, or reach me via IMs. When we reach the 6th, I'll take the votes and decide which server/faction/name to get this going under. I'm going to presume from the opinions of this thread that everyone interested in this guild either desires a PVP environment or doesn't care. If that's not the case please step forward, or forever hold your peace.

I wouldn't be able to make it on the 6th, but possibly the seventh, eighth, or ninth.

I would join, on these 2 conditions.
1. We do this on a PvP Server.
2. We get to be the horde.
Fufill those conditions and you got my help. Hell, I might even do it if only we are on a PvP server. I think we should go for a name with Nuklear or Atomik in it. The light/dark warriors is more than likely taken.

Well, we haven't really established a leadership yet... I was gonna leave it up to you guys to vote for the leader, or let Brian have it if he got interested.
Dwarfburg citizen
09-05-2005, 02:10 PM
I highly doubt Brian will go back to WoW since he still is playing CoH. As for leader i have no idea. I recomend Bronzebeard for our realm, its a low pop server and even though its PvE its full of smart pvp'ers.
Raerlynn
09-06-2005, 12:21 AM
That's the point of contention between me and Parra. I want low pop for less lag. He wants mid-high for more targets.
I'm leaning towards a mid pop server myself.
As far as faction goes, vote! Right now its:
Horde: Raerlynn, Parrallathan, EVILNess
Alliance: Blyndfaith, Shizor
I've got family over at my house today, and I have a couple of classes for school tomorrow, so I'll make the announcements 10:30 PM CENTRAL TIME. After making the announcement, I'll list some leadership ideas, and begin farming to get the guild started. We need ten people to get the guild started, so hurry online Wendsday to help me get signatures!

Why don't we move to the Wildhammer (PvP) server?
It is a low population server, but I think we need a low population server.
I mean look what the PvP/PA guilds did to the populations to the servers they are on. They almost melted the it. If we move on a medium or higher, it could be, well bad to say the least.

I think we should establish the time in server time that way most of us know and pick the server fast so we can start farming for money. As for name maybe we could go with Cult of Black Mage and use the pie tabard simbol! given that :bmage: seems to love his evil pie. :p

Ok...the moment you've all been waiting for...
Realm: Ursin
Faction: HORDE!!!
Guild: Cult of the Black Mage
I will personally be...
Raerlynn, Orc Shaman
For leadership ideas, here is my current plan. each member of the forum board who participated in this thread is granted officership, and I will hand over Guild Mastery to Kurosen if he decides to join us. Pretty much I don't intend to make major decisions regarding the guild without calling a vote among the officers.

I would have so been in if you would have decided on a low-pop RP server.
I wouldn't mind RP myself, but having played on them, I've got several strong reasons why they're to be avoided:
1.) We want PVP. RP servers default to PVE settings, and I'm not waiting for Blizzard to make RP-PVP servers.
2.) Blizzard doesn't enforce RP on an RP server. Combine this with number three:
3.) The RP servers are pretty much the servers everyone spams and lags on to make a point when their home server is down. (Blackrock is notorious for wreaking hell on Argent Dawn for this.)
4.) Even IF I waited for the RP-PVP ruleset, I guarantee that server will fill so fast it'll make your head spin. Between the RP-ers wanting RP-PVP, and the quite mistaken idiots who think RPers are easy game, plus the usual amount of jackasses who go to RP servers just harass others, and you toss in Blizzard's complete refusal to enforce their own TOS for RP servers, and you've got a literal hellhole. I would not even attempt to start a guild on an RP-PVP server.

Whoa, watch out for those double posts, DC.
I would have so been in if you would have decided on a low-pop RP server.
I wholeheartedly agree, but I don't believe that a low pop RP server exists. While I avoid PVP servers at all costs because of the high concentration of retard that seems native to the environment, an 8-Bit guild could probably neutralize that. From what my buddy on Greymane tells me, it's worked for VGC guildies.
EDIT: Wait, what happened? I thought that we were aiming to start on a low pop PVP server, not high pop. It defies logic.

Sorry about this guys. My computer needed a format yesterday, and I'm suffering issues with my ISP. As in, the kind of issues that come with 76% packet loss attached. I'm scrambling to get back on the realms as we speak. If you want an invite or have silver to donate towards the charter and the tabard, I'll be online this morning or a while, until about 1PM EST if my ISP holds. Then I have college classes and I'll be back in the game about 8 or so EST.
UPDATE: Got a new router. Connection works like a charm. Also managed to auction a stack of Linen Cloth off and get the charter. Unfortunately, anything 8-bit and Black Mage related was "reserved", so I settled for Warriors of Atomic Age. Use /who to catch up to me online, and please post character names here if you haven't already, so I can try to contact you ingame!
UPDATE 2: 7 Signatures down! Almost there.
