B_real, the reason it was in the midwest was because of the uber kitty thread, which got threadjacked when people started talking about how close to each other they lived. I mentioned I would be in Minnesota in November, that doesn't necessarilly mean I will be able to attend any such meet and greet as I will be on limited time and only vacationing from England with Rai. We can try, but there aren't any guarantees really.

TheSpacePope, we don't require alcohol, for that matter. That is just asking for trouble as it is. Nothing busts up a party like getting busted for providing to underage. Plus if you had the get together at least in part at Bob's dorm, the trouble would multiply as I know it's some sort of crazy-people college.

Not that I'm trying to be a fogey, but I'd rather avoid unnecessary complications.

Guru, so far I can guarantee we will have two XBoxes, two PS2s, a Gamecube, an Atari, and an SNES. Although, we may have to ask permission to use one of the XBoxes and PS2s. I mean, if this ever really comes together and you decide to have it at my college. Bringing your systems and a few controllers wouldn't be a bad idea, though.

About the craziness that shiney mentioned. Let's just say there are some select people in my residence hall who we would like to keep a safe distance from. Not that they'll start something or anything, they're just 1 part weird and 2 parts annoying.

Why does it feel like this sort of thing is always just outside my reach? I live in Michigan - a trip to Minnesota or Iowa would be at least impractical for me. Also, unless this is planned for Thanksgiving or something, school would prevent me from going. And if it is set for Thanksgiving, I'd have to find a way out of visiting my aunt and uncle. Even beyond that, I don't have a car (though Dynamite220 does).
Unless anyone has any ideas for me, as much as I would love to attend such a meeting, I'm sunk.

Of course, I really could afford to fly to the states. But the problems are as follows:
a) Where do I stay? Hostels cost money, and I have limited amounts of it.
b) What the hell do I eat? Or rather where? All depends on how long I stay. The more I stay, the more I spend, and as said my money suply is limited. Free meals are always welcome.
c) Time, oh time. My worst enemy and yet my best friend. November? Only thing I have on november are the weekends.
d) I would need a flight from New York to where ever the hell this is.

So the conclusion: I hate you people, so very very much.

Travelling by Inter Rail is rather cheap. But just remember that I am in Finland, and shiney & Rai are in England. You can get by Inter Rail to Finland too.
