Recently there's been a slew of Final Fantasy series MtG cards on WotC's You Make the Card forum. I was inspired to do a few 8-bit cards. I'm posting this referral to the original thread for those interested.

Kudos to Brian and his henchmen for a grand comic that keeps me laughing each week.

I'd like to see those cards used in a real MTG game. A lot of the later graphics don't load... but I think they're mostly pretty amusing. Oh, and EPS is underpowered, dangit!
Also: Brian, can I be a henchman but not actually do something? Kudos are are tasty.

Michael... those are AWESOME! They may not be the most useful in the world (Garland), but they're some of the most awesome Magic cards EVAR. Good job, man.

They're all linked correctly. Try refreshing a couple of times.

Aww man, those are all awsome. I don't play Magic, but I know how to play, and I think Garland should get some bizarre ability to compensate for his high cost, maybe...
Cookies! Tap Garland and pay X mana and two light mana: Garland bakes up a batch of delicious cookies and gives them to the enemy. Can give to as many enemies as X, and each enemy given a cookie is tapped next turn while they eat their cookie.
Also has anyone here heard of Clash of the Webcomics? An online card game recently got four webcomics, Antihero for Hire, StarSomething, RPG World, and Adventureres, to let them make the characters and situations from these comics into cards for the card game. I don't know how it was decided, but maybe sometime in the future they could add 8-bit Theater cards.
If you want to check it out, it's here... http://cmc.redleaf.de/
And yes, I know its down now and I don't know why, but if you want to check it out in the future, that's the link.

There should be a card called "The Quiet Game"...
Enchantment - 2
Can only be played if Fighter is in play. While it is active Fighter can take no actions (tapping, blocking, attacking, etc.)
If Fighter is made to tap, attack or block, returntarget Black Mage to owner's hand and discard The Quiet Game.
"...I am soooo going to win this quiet game..."

Curse that thrice-damned dad of mine! He's only gone and formatted the drive that had my creations on there! I'd created the usual lot, plus the Armoire, Matoya, Giant's Club and who knows what else! I can't remember what I made, but it's all gone now!

During the previous 8BT Magic card creation spurt, I made these cards, but was not a forums member, so they were never shown.
Hope you like them!

It's worse than you think. I lost an entire story because of him once.

I'll continue the March of cards here since Russ over at ENWorld might shoot me if I squirrel many more 8-bit cards into the server.

For those who can't read that card above the rules text is
When during the course of this recreational activity (hereafter "game") this document (hereafter "card") is entered into the play zone (or in the terminology of the documents governing the game (hereafter "rules") this card "comes into play" then if it is the thirteenth day of the month and one or more players is wearing any clothing manufactured from denim cloth and if the day of the week is a Friday, Tuesday or Sunday then the player of this card shall be declared the winner unless one of the other players immediately dispenses from his portable document repository (hereafter "wallet") all monies therein to the player of this card.
Next card...

Heh, nice card, it actually does sound like something you would find in a Thief contract, although his would be more vague so he could claim this card worked on any day in any situation. Maybe there should be another card labeled, "The All Purpose Prove Them Wrong Clause", and if it is used immediatly after any card is put in play, it negates all special qualifiers on that card or any attempts to counter the card and the card is a success, thus making Thief's Contract always a success if you have both and can play both of them at the same time.
EDIT: This is in reference to Thief's contract, the others weren't up a second ago.

This next card is broken - but so is Thief's larceny skill rank.

Yeah, he probably would, but I need to make the card remotely balanced (some part of me couldn't tolerate an unbalanced card).

Wwwaaaaaaaaayyyy too many posts in a row. You know you can attach more then one image per post, right?
Forever Zero
01-05-2004, 03:28 PM
Actually, you can't always do that. There is a really weird image limit know, and I don't know if it is based on size or number, but maybe he can't post any more than one at a time.
:rmage: :rmage: :rmage: :rmage: By putting these +4 Red Mages of Min/Maxing goodness, I have hit the image limit.
Oh, and great job on the cards, I like "Giant Spider Attack"

The funny thing is, all these cards actually saound like they cam e from some obscure expansion...
Nobody made the Hadoken card, but I
m guessig it'll be like Apocslypse, WoG or Armageddon...
Michael Morris
01-05-2004, 04:16 PM
Forever zero's right. The attatchment limit is 40,000 bytes, and most of these are between 30,000-50,000 bytes. The small ones (like Giant Spider Attack) are those I needed to resize to get under the 40,000 byte limit.

Hadoken is over on the original WotC thread, linked from the first post in this thread.

Hmm... must have missed it. Hdoken isn't powerful enough! We wants the spells that makes the peoples falls down!
Hey, how about "Fighter Takes The Reins?" All creatures lose all abilities and instead and gain +3/+3 and first strike. Attacking does not cause cretures to tap.

Whatever happened to all those thousands of cards people made the last time this came up?
And I'm stupid, but I think I remember someone saying something about a card creator?

There are a bunch of card creators. I myself use the one included with Magic Workstation, a card-listing program of kick ass. I've made about 60 cards in all...but only those five for 8BT.

Where could I find such a card maker? And is it free? *is broke*

This is the place. (http://www.magicworkstation.com/)
Yes, it is free, but only the trial version. However, this does not prevent you from doing whatever you wish with the card creator.

Very cool stuff. I always wanted to make my own cards. Maybe I'll try that cardmaker thing. You left out armoire (sp?) of invincibility
4 mana
legendary artifact
Equip 1
Equipped creature cannot attack, block, tap or use any abilities
All damage dealt to equipped creature is reduced to zero
At end of turn, bury creature under armoire of invincibility (just kidding ;)
I'm not sure I have the wording right for adding a token that acts like a wall, but eh.

My copy of MW went kersplat for unknown reasons, but here's a card idea...
BM's Bad Pickup Line
Mana Cost: 1BR
Instant
Target opposing creature gains +2/+0 and must attack this turn.
If target creature is White Mage, destroy all Black Mages in play.
