Beards? Rugged and manly or just plain annoying.

It really depends on the person, I think. Some people look a lot better with facial hair then they do without it, while some absolutely need to shave every day or they're gonna look like a hobo.

well i will tell ya this...usually it depends on the woman. Some like a little scruffy and some don't. The guys usually don't care. I would ask your woman friends for an honest opinion on how you look with one and if you want a big thick one or a beard thats low cut like very short. :wmage:

I don't mind beards that much. It's those little rat moustachios I loathe.

I have a beard. This is because I am far too lazy to shave everyday, and generally could care less early in the morning how I look. Rather than shave every other month and look like crap in between, I let it grow out, and make it look at least like I'm doing it on purpose.

I shave about every third day; cheeks and upper lip, that is, because I know for a fact there's no way I can get, for example, the area under my chin clean-shaven. I simply don't let the hair there get longer than 1 cm. My kind of compromising between my laziness and my good looks when shaved (brag).

Good looks in comparison, at least...

Anyway, Hamelin's right, it all depends on the bearer. But, I ask ye, where is the ladies' opinion on the important subject?

I think that a beard can look very cool if you don't allow it to become unkempt. I'm too lazy to shave, so I tend to get a lot of facial hair. It all depends on you, really; do you like having a beard or nay?

Wait... what's the difference between rugged/manly and annoying? I don't see it.

Seriously though... I hate beards... I've never seen someone who I've thought looked better with one than without... but then I'm one of those people that hates hair that's not on the head or eyebrows, so I should probably be ignored.

I think only old people should have beards. They make kids and young people look stupid.
Cause the beards just naturally flow into ear hair.

beards + ear hair = good.
Breads + babyface = no.

I wish I could grow a beard, but it ends up just looking stupid.

On the plus side, I can grow that Auron stubble really well. :D

ive got one of those "cookie dusters" sort of soul patch things going. i keep it small because i just look too much like my brother with a full gotee, and i dont look right at all with a full beard. without a beard though, i dont have a chin, so thats why i keep mine.

Bezo: I have the Auron Stubble down pat. Cosplay here I come.

I go through one of those Mach 3 Razorblades in one shave! I spent about 20 dollars a week on blades. yikes. I'm like...some out of control Chia pet or something.

I have the beard when im too lazy to shave. I never shave it all the way though. Im too lazy/Don't have enough dates to even want to deal with shaving cream and a razor blade at this point. So I trim it for work..and leave it at that. Plus the trim/long hair thing im rocking works well when Rocking out with my guitar.

I believe people should not grow beards unless old also. And in that case, maybe even not then. It always makes people older and uglier. For instance, my woodwork or something like that teacher from 4 grade had a beard. When he shaved it, he looked 10-20 years younger. So there!

Knights would grow beards to cover the scars on there face. It was considered a proper thing to do since talk of War in court was barbaric.

You see, looking older is a good thing for some people. Take for instance me: 17 years. With beard, I look 17, maybe even older. Without the beard, people would think I was 14.

well, thats an excelent argument in favor of beards. if you have one, and you need to suddenly look younger (midlife crisis, or just to mess with your kid's heads) you can shave it. my dad's always had a full beard and mustache, in fact, he used to have a hell of a handle-bar mustache (a relic of his hairy years in the '70s), but then he shaved it and it never grew out long enough.

my mother's side of the family doesnt have the proper 'facial hair' genes, and can grow little more than stubble (damn Canadians and thier metric system genes), which conflicts with my dad's Romanian heritige of large hairy men.

And if you look like age 14 you can sneak into Pokemon CCG conventions and use your superior 17 your old intellect to decieve them into playing Magic.

hmmm... you have a point.... but last time I shaved I had to deal with a bunch of 12-year-olds who suddenly thought I was cute (*shudders at the recolection*). And as I said, I'm too damn lazy to shave

I'd say beards look best on old people and the stereotypical looking scottish people.

I think long beards only look good on wizards(see Gandalf, or an old Merlin). (well maybe dwarves too) So you should either be immortal (or at least several hundreds of years old) or have some kick butt magical ability to have one.

As these requirements don't apply to anyone on this planet (at least I don't believe so), long beards (say over 2 inches)should be prohibited by law. :)

It just has to be short or long. A semi-long beard just looks ugly.
