Well, I finally got it, and of course had to make the 8-bit team. They should have left most of the graphics the same. Oh well. It's been wierd trying to fit the right moves to each of brian's charecters. It's probably been done to death, but I'm SUPER bored.
:bmage: :rmage:
1 Fire1 Fire1
Bolt1 Bolt1
Sleep1 Cure1
2 Ice1 Ice1
Fog Silence
Slow1 Steel
3 Fire2 bolt2
bolt2 fire2
Bind Cure2
4 ice2 Esuna
sleep2 ice2
muddle haste
5 Fire 3
That's as far as I've gotten, but BM or BW at that point will of course have NUKE. They may seem similar, but I try to give RM the stats moves, and BM the Evil moves. You know sleep for easy kills, muddle to get the enemies fighting each other.

The graphics are much better! I just wish they'd have left them the same layout just with more detail, it would have been great to see 16 bit Theater chars, but they kind of screwed up Fighter.

yeah and the name changes sucked, and the ff2j character graphic changes REALLY sucked. i mean i found it more fun when frioniel looked like a fighter and guy looked like a theif, that among other things

I really wish they hadn't messed with it at all.
It'd be a thousand times more awesome if I could play the origionals without having to use a regular nes.
I'm almost disappointed.

It's understandable. I don't particularily like FF1 either. There's not much of a story, and the battle system sucks horribly (although they may have fixed that for FF: Origins). It was AWESOME in it's time, but now-a-days... meh.

That probably strengthens my argument even more.
If you're going to remake a game and bring it into modern times, you should remake the game.
Instead, it was upgraded into something more fit for, maybe, snes. That ain't no good. They should have kept it origional or given it graphics worth the memory of the cd that it comes on.

Well, that was becasue they were remade on a system that was more or less like the SNES. Mostly the Wonderswan. Origins is a port of the Wonderswan games with CGI movies added.

Well, I find it's kind of fun to take for a spin, but that's about it. At the time it was pretty impressive for the NES, and it was easier to play than Dragon Quest, but it really pales against the Ultima games that it was heavily inspired by. Especially since Ultima 5 came out at the same time, and is superior in almost every possible way.
On consoles Phantasy Star was released at roughly the same time and actually was the first to make it to North America, and it is in my opinion also better than Final Fantasy. Has a much better story at least, complete with real characters and all. Looked much better to boot.

well perhaps the worst thing about it is the warmech makeover. it looked like a cocky little toy robot with an eyeball in the original verson, though they at least DID add the laser effect to i's attack in origins. you know what's almost as bad though? they actually fucked with the terra cavern/mount gulg theme and made it 100,000x worse. the good thing though is that it's general systems are more transparant than the original and you can carry more items
I liked FF1 for the NES and absolutly love Final Fantasy Origins. It's my third favorite, besides 6&7. The graphics, music, and sound all rock.

I found FF1 nes almostu nplayable because it was too damn slow! IT took ages for dialouge boxes to open and close and the noises were annoying.
i hear ya WetFlame, even on emulators it was slow (or too fast, if you turned up the FPS)
