Well, I bought my first Sega console yesterday, kinda. I scored a Power Base Converter along with the 3D Glasses (In the box!), the light gun, Phantasy Star, Space Harrier and Rescue Mission (I also bought a copy of PS2 for good measure, since I'll have to buy a Genesis to use the stuff anyway). Anyway, is anyone well-versed in all things SMS?
What exactly do the 3D glasses do? Are they specific to certain games, or will anything work with 'em? What are some good games for the system worth looking out for?

Are those the famed shuttering Sega glasses that I've heard of? If so, kickass! And I think that they only work in certain games, but Space Harrier might be one of them.

Yeah, the glasses only work with games designed to work with them. They work by shutters that alternately block off each eye. At the same time the game draws alternate frames. The result is the illusion of depth. I believe that Space Harrier was available in the 3D version.
As for SMS games, hmm. Well, you scored really well with Phantasy Star. Easily the highlight of the system. Fantasy Zone is a solid shooter, and I enjoyed Spellcaster, an odd blend of adventure game and platformer, though the translation is painful to me these days. Oh, and I almost forgot Woderboy 3: Dragon's Curse. Absolutely amazing game and a must play. I have the TG16 version which is graphically enhanced, but the SMS version is just as good if not as pretty.

Master System! :-) my first ever console was a Master System. they're great, i still play mine now. theyre practically invulnerable except for the little box that plugs into the back of the TV.
my top 5 fave games:
1) Phantasy Star. actually i'm a fan of the whole QUARTET. that set of FOUR games really did something to me. it's a shame about the CHEAP DREAMCAST TRAVESTY OF A NOT-A-SEQUEL.
2) Sonic 1
3) Columns
4) YS: the Vanished Omens
5) Marble Madness
my top 5 least favourite games:
1) Spellcaster. sorry but i do NOT take well to bad background music.
2) Alex Kidd in Shinobi World
3) Miracle Warriors
4) Sonic Chaos
5) R-Type

I like R-type, it just took some serious getting used to..and the first sonic I played was on the Genesis....good times. (Sonic The Hedgehog 1 for the Genesis...hardest game I'd played when I was 3-5. I finally beat it though.)

Well, looks like I'm outta luck, my copy of Space Harrier is the non-3D version. I'll have to start scouring the second-hand places around here and see what I can dig up.

What was Nights into Dreams for? Was it Sega CD?
