LET THE INSANITY BEGIN!

Ok, I know it's a dodgy introduction, but it's 11:30pm, i gotta go to work in the morning, and my brain just imploded with Lumaes' insanity. I'll throw up a better one once I've got enough sleep.....

I think I will post after PyrosNine, if he was staying at my residence of course.

Bailey

...

and, of course, in order to escape from the room I would need to either run out the door or strip naked.

Yeah, that'll go over real well.

Using near-Toasty's mobster class style, the following is for future reference on monster ranking:

Class ranking:

The Grunts: come in massive, near-mindless mobs, and are basically easy to kill off. A single person could hold off 20-25 with no problem, however once you start building a wall out of their corpses, it gets a bit tiring. They just keep coming!

The Sane: stronger than grunts, so that 15-20 would pose a problem with an individual. They are smarter, and travel in large packs, preferring to pick off the loners of the group. Needs a bit of teamwork to get rid of these guys, but their numbers aren’t exhausting either.

The Logical: medium-levelled mobsters. 5-10 of these will be problematic against 1. They are also smarter, and travel in packs of 12 (means that if one of you encounter a pack, it’s gonna be hellishly hard to come out of it without being moderately injured)

The Crazies: strong bully mobsters. 1 is enough of a challenge, 2 will induce injuries, and 3-4 will overwhelm a strong individual, and they come in groups of 8, but also hunt solo.

Beyond Insane: 1 vs 1, a strong individual will lose. They have insane stamina, life, and powers, and will come at you as if there is no tomorrow. They come in 2s and 3s.

Minor-bosses: Sub-boss levelled monsters. They are hellishly hard to kill, and can pin 2-3 heroes down quickly. Guns are almost like pellets to them, and they come in 2s and 3s. Teamwork is required to prevent an ass-whipping.

Boss: your average ass-kicking monster. One is a challenge to any large group of adventurers. Even the Gods will have trouble if they face these guys on their own. Teamwork is definitely required to bring these creatures down.
~~

If anybody has any ideas, PM me about it. I'd love to know your feedback and stuff.

There aint gonna be no problem for bodies with me around theys only be fuel for the fire!

Ynow technically, I could create more bodies of myself if there is enough fire around, here comes teh army of pyros!1!1!!!!11!1

Edit: Heh, heh I just had a thought, Pyrosian bombs :P

GARUD
01-13-2006, 09:45 AM
We had that last time... In PLUSHIE FORM, courtesy of Ecurt.

Note: Just because they were kitties, and Pyros"9" copies, they were still Pyrosian bombs.

Incendius

I headed over to discussion because I think meeting in the bathroom is likely to bring out the baka mallets.

EDIT: what really cracks me up is that we're all meeting in the bathroom and only about two people have noticed.

and how tall is this bathroom anyway?

is the ceiling like 40 feet up? how else could pyros be 30 feet above us?

was this building designed by Bergholt-Stuttly "Bloody Stupid" Johnson by any chance?

Incendius
01-13-2006, 01:15 PM
Newb mostly because, correct me if I'm wrong, only you said we were meeting in the bathroom. I don't think Rhiya said anything about meating in the bathroom, as such I believe most of us either

A: Didn't see

or

B: We ignored that point of your post.

Edit: I personally did not see.

Bailey
01-13-2006, 01:24 PM
I didn't say we were in the bathroom in the first place, that was Ecurt.

I simply said that I went to where Rhiya was, which might have been the bathroom.

Ecurt didn't actually contradict anybody who posted before him, so I went with it.

Accidentally soaking the entire group sounds like a good way to start, so long as the fire elementals don't get too badly hurt.

Quick, somebody do something funny so that my character can laugh.

Soak a Thunder God and everyone that's near him? Yeah, that's smart. I hope none of you are wearing pacemakers...

And newb, this is the NPForums we're in. Space has no meaning there. Everything changes to the whim of all.

hmmmm, Idea!

step 1) soak raiden and both fire elementals
step 2) laugh hysterically
step 3) run away
step 4) soak female forumites
step 5) get killed.

hmmmm, I may need to rethink this plan...

Incendius

1) Soak Raiden and the two fire elements
2) Get killed

I dont know. Frm what I've heard guys make of it, it seems like it hurts to get hit there. God or no. Plus, I liked the idea of me throwing TB, because of my inherent infusion strenght and accuracy. And it's real good accuracy pyros.

Truce
01-13-2006, 08:09 PM
Err...actually, TB still had a chance to avoid me. I might go a little over the top, but I didn't decide another character's actions, and even nothing is an action.

Minor stuff tends to be okay, but you generally want to avoid deciding someone about someone else that would involve them getting blown up.

EDIT: And I'm not just saying that because I wanted to be the one to make TB go explody.

Incendius

The Wizard was afraid. Very afraid. His cover had just given up in him, and the Wizard did not want to die. Wondering what the hell he could do, he ran to the second best obstacle, although not as large as the previous one.

The Wizard Who Did It
01-13-2006, 09:10 PM
What can I say, I'm a wizard. I am obviously well knowledged in such fields as magic, the history of magic, alchemy, gods, the history of the gods, herbs, doomsday spells, apocolypses, making plant-like homes, origami, dark (or elder/forbidden) magic, and how to kill scientists.

Nonetheless, I'll fix the post so that it isn't so... all-knowing.

PyrosNine
01-13-2006, 09:24 PM
I'm dodging lawsuits on the grounds that PyrosNine blew up a majority of Santa's castle.

Read one of my last posts on the Christmas RP. The only person who should recognize me would be Twiddy or Krylo.

But if you're too lazy, I'm in one of my other godly monikers, as I like messing with you mortals, and it doubles the amount of people who worship me with wine and gold. God's gotta make a living y'know.

Asheth:
Appearance: Looks like ruby off of Dark Cloud, but has red hair.
Weapons: Magic bracelets, used as a focusiing point for my mighty magic.
Armband whips: Cloth that is normall rolled up into an armband, but can unfurl into long stretches of cloth that act like whips or living rope.
Powers: Fire, control fire, healing, and trickery. Also benefits from being slightly more pleasing to the eye than normal, Psychotic firey death dealer.

Last important thing done:
Saved krylo from the dead rot he aquired from the withering blade.

Bailey
01-13-2006, 09:46 PM
well, I suppose that an explosion is sufficiently traumatizing to knock me back into being Core, and when core isn't wearing the facemask his words don't bother with that whole "sound" business and instead just end up as words inside the other person's head.

not sure how well this will work on such insane people as forumites, but I suppose I could try shouting.

Oh come on I can go faster than a god.
It may only be for like 30 seconds, but at taht speed I'm getting anywhere I need to be. I mean I started off on the other side of the world in an endless field and spanned it at about half speed and made it to the bathroom in like 2 minutes. Didn't that denote some sort of intense speed.

Yes and I know hey look my dragon spirit went throughthe ground and started gouging your eyes out mister I can't take a hit.
And I am excellent at taking hits mind you. Remember, I am a mortal with the physical prowess to take god surpassing speed on like it's nothing.

The Wizard Who Did It
01-13-2006, 11:05 PM
We're arguing because we are all megalomaniacs that have to win whatever argument we get in.

Mainly, it's because I have two advantages, speed and magic. And really, last time I got shot in the wing and had to have Krylo take a hit for me because I couldn't move. I know Krylo was waiting for that as he wanted to take that Shapeshifter down with it's own medicin, but I wanted to be a pain in the ass and stick around.

01-13-2006, 11:19 PM
SIGH.

I go away for like.. 12 hours and NINE FREAKING PAGES?! Expect lots of angst.

AAAAND we're coming up against first is:

Name: Angry Cave Imps
Class: grunts
Appearance: agile cave-dwelling folk only 2’ in height. They are characteristically brown in colour and possess large eyes, extremely strong sharp teeth, slender but strong arms and very VERY sharp claws. They are normally seen wearing a dirty loincloth over their privates.
Abilities/weapons:
Dark-vision – the imps have exceptionally good vision in the dark. Hence, the first thing they normally do is put out any excess light that comes into their abode, plunging anything into utter darkness.
Large numbers – unlike other more solitary imps, once a cave imp has established a safe home, it will bring along its parents, it’s 30-40 siblings, it’s 100 or so cousins, grandparents, distant relatives and so on. Entering a cave imp’s home is harkened to suicide.
Weapons – cave imps use carefully selected rocks to pelt their enemies and sharpened sticks in close combat. They will always attack in dozens or more, and their main strength is in their overwhelming numbers. They will also use their strong teeth and claws to tear into their victim.

Name: Giant bats
Class: Sane
Appearance: Large, oversized carnivorous beasts that fly through the air on a wingspan of 2 metres. They are dark brown in colour, have a short snout, and extremely vicious fangs. Their wing claws are also sharp and their eyes and ears are large.
Abilities/weapons:
Flight – easily explained, these bats are hellishly hard to attack when they are flying.
Corrosive droppings – a self-defence mechanism that is also a way to bring down prey. Travelling in large flocks, the bats unleash a deadly hail of droppings so corrosive due to their carnivorous diet that it can literally eat through clothing, fur, and armour alike. The feeling of one such dropping on your skin is very much like a touch from the fires of hell, minus the actual fires and charring of flesh. Getting a dropping in your eyes/mouth, however, is akin to death.
Imp Rider – now and then, Giant Bats will pair up with Cave Imps to take down bigger prey. While the bats fly high overhead, the imps rain a barrage of sticks and stones down upon the victim.
Explosive bite – once a bat has got ahold of you, it can administer a bite so deadly that it will make you break out in fire. This is considered a kamikaze attack, as the bat isn’t quick enough to avoid the fire it creates.
Intelligence – Giant bats are more sentient than their primitive brethrens. Hence, they communicate in a more complex sort of language, and can plan attacks and such.

The intent is not so much as killing the lot of them, but charging straight through and hoping there isn't many of them in your way.

You think you had it bad, I just spent two hours reading all those posts and *right* when I was about to finish my own "firefox.exe encountered a problem and needed to close". But it's alright, they were sorry for the incovenience. ;_;
And ya, Sorry for the delay, I tried to make the post pretty big to make up for it...

Arhra
01-14-2006, 06:53 AM
I think we might need a post limit per day. To prove my point, I conducted an analysis of the RP thread.

We've had 25 people post in the RP as of 95 posts. The highest number of posts were by Newb and Meztisio - 18 and 13 posts respectively. This is ludicrously high - it means a third of the thread's length was generated by two people. The next highest is Raiden and Pyros at 8 posts each. After then it drops to 6 (PyrosNine), 5 (The Wizard Who Did It) and all others posted four or less times.

I think a post limit of four posts per day might help cut down on this ridiculuous thread bloating. Or at least could the more active posters write fewer, long posts. Its annoying having to trawl through all these new posts.

I've got the full numbers in this attachment

I mean, before I made my third post, I had to read through two pages of 40 posts each, before I had a grasp of where we were, nor did I have a chance to join in on the bickering in the bathroom. (Although, I would have stayed out of it anyway, it would have been nice to be able to have a choice of being a part of it.)

Anyway, four posts per player? That sounds fine by me.

I would like to make a protest about this idea, and state that if everybody posted more the game would go a whole lot smoother.

The point Newb is some people don't have enough time to do that.

Besides, if everyone posted at such high speed, no-one would have any idea of what was going on. 9 pages was bad enough for those people who missed a bit. What would 20 be like? Its unsustainable, especially with a group of this size in multiple different time zones. You need a slower pace simply to have meaningful character interaction.

And where would I fit in, then? I'm posting when most of you are not. If everybody posted 10+ posts while I'm asleep, I'd might as well get out of the RP altogether. There'd be no way i would be able to catch up, or I would have to have a set of solo missions, which is impossible because of the enemies I might face.

Nah, a limit is best. Ofcourse, it's all up to Rhiya, but I'm sure she'll agree.

Ehh...I have my posts per page set to 40, so I have no problem reading it in one go.

Anyway, the main reason I have a distaste for post limits is that it tends to slow an RP down. I think it would be better for people just to limit themselves, rather than just make an official limit.

What? You weak fools!! I can read 20 pages of posts within a few minutes!
I read the first three harry potter books with an average of 1 hour each! I've considered reading the dictionary to show off!

I do get the feeling that more people jumped on than neccessary. Remeber that superhero rp ways back? There were too many people and it died because we didn't know who or where everyone was!

Oh, Ecurt. We're a bunch of heroes of varying alignment, from Lawful Good, to Chaotic Evil, but that... that there? Yeah. You win the price, man.

A Hamtaro army. If we manage to get out of the way of the charging rodents, Melfice'll buy you an ale at the nearest tavern. That is, if I ever find out it was you, who summoned them,

Yay! CREATE THE HAMTARO OF LIFE! BUILD THE AMAZING RODENT ARMY OF DOOM! FOR GREAAT JUSTICE!

It's so crazy, it's snuggably cute and while not quite nearly as marketable as PyrosNine plushies!

Hamtaro! When we work together it's much better! MY BEST FRIEND! We like sunflower seeds call em crum crum-

I agree with the four posts a day limit. It makes it easier for everyone to keep up with the storyline. I wouldn't mind going even smaller-- say three a day-- but whatever works for Rhiya.

HAMTARO CLONES!! An army of cuddly death, wrapped in the guise of a thousand big-eyed hamsters!! I love it! The forces of darkness (and of semi-evil sunflower seeds) will tremble before our might! TREMBLE, I SAY!

what? you dare bring up string theory? It's so full of crap that even flies are offended by it! Such theories are merely created by atheists in an attempt to undermine us wizard folk and Gods!

THey're trying to get the world to answer to the question "What the hell did that?" with the Answer "String theory!", rather than "A wizard did it" or "Must be Pyros and Raiden having a prank war."

You'll be lucky if Raiden doesn't reduce you ashes for mentioning it!

Also of note: some of us have jobs and can't be here all the time, and Rhiya is Australian, and, thus, not in the same time zone as the big posters. Indeed, her time zone is even further off than Melfice's. She's probably sleeping right now.

sigh... once again....

*ANGST ANGST ANGST!!!*

Name: Slime dragons
Class: Crazies
Appearance: They look like large eyeless snot-covered dragons, and emit a pungent odour very much like a thousand rotting rat carcasses. Their form always seems to shift as well, as if they're not sure they really ARE dragons.
Abilities/weapons:
Fetid Breath - phew! The slime dragons will breathe out a stench so unholy that even the scarce hairs on a pig will writhe and turn to ash. This repelling stink will overwhelm the sense of smell to the point you're blinded by your own tears. Even the Gods stay away from a Slime Dragon's lair, and you are beyond insane to enter a colony of one just for a challenge.
Toxic Touch, or "IT TASTES LIKE BURNING!" - Composed of some form of slime, the very touch of a slime dragon could scald and burn like the fires from hell. Ingesting part of a dragon is sure death to any mortals, and won't taste that good either for immortals, as it literally digests you from the inside.
Regeneration - Composed mostly of some indistinguishable liquid, slime dragons will regenerate rapidly in presence of moisture. Since they live normally near a moisture-rich environment, killing them is near impossible.
Cushioning defence - any fierce attacks will be met with squishy, soft defence that literally suck the weapons out of the attacker's hands.
Flammability - slime dragons are actually flammable, but they are usually so soggy that it is hard to get them burning. However, once a fire has started, it will be hard to stop, and then you'd have a stinking, screaming, burning slime dragon stomping around releasing toxic gases into the atmosphere.

Name: Scavengers
Class: Logical
Appearance: Scavengers look like giant black 3' high spiders with too many legs (10-12) and not enough body. They have numerous, tiny beady eyes and horrifically large mandibles and fangs. Their forearms have opposable, clawed digits, and all of their legs end in spikes made for easy tearing into scales and flesh alike.
Abilities/weapons:
Immunity - immune to any form of magic and elemental attack. These buggers can only be killed by physical force. They are also immune to a Slime Dragon's stench, owing to having no sense of smell.
Decaying Venom - once a Scavenger has latched onto you, it will inject a venom that will immediately begin rotting the flesh off your bones.
Death throes - Once a fatal blow has been landed, a Scavenger will begin to jerk uncontrollably. Anybody within a close proximity of a dying Scavenger will know how painful it is when struck by a flailing leg spike.
Carapace - improved defenses owing to a hardened exoskeleton.

Since I have not actualy been able to finish up my character (Mostly because Im all out of ideas, which is because I cant make up anything even close to as insane or interesting as the other characters at the moment) I think I will just resign from this rp. Though If Rhiya says it is fine then I will join in on the next chapter or something if I can get some idea for my character...

OmniShadow
01-14-2006, 10:43 PM
Name: OmniShadow

Appearance: OmniShadow is cloaked in shadows, and the only thing that can be seen from under his dark hood is his two glowing red eyes. His whole body is covered by the shadowy cloak and it reaches down to the ground. He appears to be about two meters long but it is hard to measure because it is hard to actualy focus ones eyes upon him. He is himself a dark being which at times is as present as shadows and other times seems to actualy be made of flesh. His hands and arms are covered in black steel and leather armour with the fingers being almost like black steel claws.

Weapons/Items: A shadow cloak which is used to keep him in a more or less humanoid shape without him having to force concentrate on it constantly.
A 1.2 meters long double edged sword which seems to flow of dark energy, named the 'void blade' for its unatural dark abilities.

Special Abilities:
-Shadow disperce: Being prety much made of shadows and darkness OmniShadow can not easily be killed, however he can be 'scattered'. Which can happen quite easily if someone would find the easy way in doing it. However as he is scattered he has to gather himself togheter again, which is like building a 1 million piece pussel from scratch. Fortunately he has done it so many times he can do it on a moderately short time.

-Shadow mastery: Being a master of shadows he can controll shadows and darkness at will, using them either for defence or offence. While he also is very profficient in void magic because of the blade he wields.

-Ancient dark knowledge: Being a ancient being of evil nature (Or so he claims) he has knowledge since the time of creation (Also something he claims to have) and therefore he can disregard anything that has to do with darkness or evil in any way because he has the 'correct' knowledge. He is also always seeking more of this so called 'ancient knowledge'

Had to try and fit in some kind of quirk, hope its not to weird :p

You know...I must admit I like the idea of having people slow down...I know from my experience with the Christmas RP it's a real pain the butt trying to catch up on what everyone did when I wasn't on (I mainly post during daytime weekdays and sometime late weekend nights...most people post nighttime weekdays and all-day weekends. It made for a good number of pages I had to read through carefully, since I was the GM and was suppose to know what was going on).

That and the fact I find that I died like three times on like three different pages. :O_o:

So please people...if not for the sake of those of us who aren't on 24/7, then for Rhiya's sanity...don't feel like you have to respond to every single post.

Anyways, I'm back, and luck of the draw has me in dragon form (http://www.angelfire.com/ut/benhaun/ToastburnerB/dragon.html).

Well, I could always drop out if yall want. I'm still saying the problem is the fact our current number is double what we had in the christmas Rp.

Perhaps another possible idea would be to split the rp into two groups, A and B.

Both are seperate RPs that follow the same story, Like Team A trying to cripple William's army, and Team B attacking Poseidon's castle. The thread is split into two threads, and interaction between them is limited to what the GM"s want. That way, we can make the posts a bit more manageable. And we could all come together for the final battle, like before.

Toastburner B
01-15-2006, 12:31 AM
Nah...chances are people will drop out without having to be volunteered to drop out. That's how Rhiya and Mr. V ended up in the Christmas RP in the first place.

Eh, I'm Australian AND I have a job...sucks to be me.

Anywho, can I ask that people slow down. Please? There are like 26 people in this rp and if 24 of them post twice each, that's virtually half a chapter. Also, at one point we should have our people split up. In the christmas RP, once I knew who was in the stables, I could skip everybody elses posts and look at theirs' for a while.

We feel that there's already enough Forumers on the attack, and might as well chill whilst you baddy slash. Sure, you may not have the Quality forumites fighting for you, but you make up for it in Quantity.

Which answers the age old question:How much wood...Wait. Wrong question.

If a bunch of forumites were locked in an adventure together, would they be capable of creating Shakespeare?

To be Pyrosnine or not to be Pyrosnine? That is the question! Whether 'tis nobler in the mind (however crazy it may be) to suffer the slings and arrows of the sheer number of posts in the thread made by Newb or to take up arms against a sea of too-many-people-in-an-RP and by god-modingly opposing, end them. To die (except for Toastburner, who does this enough), to sleep... Or just to take a nap and HOPE you wake in time for dinner because it's your turn to cook and Pyrosnine said that he wants some chicken with a light honey glaze and mixed vegetables and you just can't take the pressure of this speech!
Also, I've been spying on Pyrosnine every night.
