My personal favoriet of the Transformers series. Smart, funny, and characters that were down right awsome.

And the fact that the heroes continusally make fun of Megatron for his 'Yeesss..." line...:D

Agreed, totally awesome.

I had quibbles with the end, it seemed like Optimus was winning way too much based on Deus ex Machinas and not enough on Optimus being a total bad-ass.

Then there was Beast Machines, which also had it's down notes, but totally made up for it with the end.

It does lack Bumblebee, and the Grimlock - but still, Beast Wars didn't have the annoying and often useless humans which appeared in the old Transformers.. nor that infernal Ultra Magnus whom I loathe.

Another thing that I liked was it actually gave them a reason to transform into their alternative non-humanoid form - ya'see I never actually understood why the transformers ever bothered with vehicle forms when it was clear that they're essentially useless.

Beast Machines had what the original Transformers, and Beast Wars lacked - which was a definite ending, not one where you could easily see Megatron coming back in another form - "The end....?" type endings are cop outs.

I never saw the end of Beast Machines myself. However, I loved Beast Wars simply because of how Starscream took the weakest/stupidest villain of the show and kicked everybody's ass around., though there were a lot of other reasons. Like how the other forms could still fight interestingly. Note that I didn't say well, because let's face it...a tank could beat a rat any day.

Comparing Beast Wars to Beast Machines?! Blasphmy!

Seriously Beast wars was most excellent. I loved it, never saw the end of Beast machines but ecurt, Starscreme did indeed kick so much ass as the wasp guy I loved Black Arachni and Silverbolt she just would tell hims traight otu "You're corny and annoying" and he just would'nt give up

Ah, Beast Wars. Boy, does that take me back. It was without a doubt the best transformers series besides the original. Dinobot was my favorite character because he was just so badass. I actually cried a little at the end of Code of Hero. As for beast machines, it wasn't as good as beast wars but still better than the transformers series that followed it.

Zomg, Beast Wars... I didn't think I'd ever hear from that show again. o.O'

I think this was my first contact with Transformers. I didn't understand anything, but still thought it was awesome. XD

It comes on. Every day. 7:00 AM on G4. Action Blast (I think.) You just have to wait about ten minutes or so for the idiots to stop talking. It. Is. Awsome.

Dinobots last Hurrah, was without a doubt the high point of any Transformers series. Ever.

I heard some Waspinator bashing. You have to remember that although he may be a weak panzy, he's friggen immortal. Every other episode he'll get blasted/shot/shredded, and he 5 minutes later he's as good as new, with no outside help. Plus he's the second funniest character (besides Rattrap).

I have a theory, it may have something to do with his contact with Starscream.

Or maybe that is why Starscream was attracted to him, forget random chance...

I still have fond memories of Beast Wars. It was the first show I watched where the good guys actually died. Dinobot's death (the first Dinobot) still remains one of my favorite moments in TV.

You'll want to go back and color out the spoiler. I already knew about it, but others may not. Use [(color=#111111)] or [(spoiler)], without the (), to color it out.

But, yeah. I remember watching Beast Wars. I hear they have a Box set out for it...but seeming as I'm poor, I won't tempt myself by going to hunt it down right now. :sweatdrop

Fox Tv got replaced by kids WB sometime around '98 so I never got to see the third season or any of beast machines.

Eventually, I bought the second and third season of Beast Wars on DVD.
Have they released Beast Machines on DVD yet?

By the way, whoever wrote the wikipedia on Beast machines seemed to hate it.

Beast Machines was... odd. Everything that made Beast Wars so great, the characters, the humor was gone. Everyone got a new personality.

Optimus became a tree hugger.
Cheetor became all angsty.
Rat-trap became a wuss.
Black Arachnea did nothing but complain and whine.

Other characters include: (Spoilers)
Rhinox became all evil.
Waspinator stayed Waspinator, in another body.
Silverbolt became an anti-hero.

Then there was the plot. It was very convulated.

Burkion

I mean, how is Cheetor and angsty person anyways?! He's ANTI Angst! The only good thing that came out of all this was Megatrons Dragon form...and even that sucked somewhat.

...I really miss this show. Really, I do.

This thread doesn't really help with that, either. I mean, I was only seven when it started airing, so a LOT of nostalgia's been associated to this show because of that age.

Anyway, I really wanna see it again now... I esecially wanna see Code of Hero, now that it was mentioned. Dinobot's death reduced me to tears when I was a kid, and I get teary-eyed thinking about it right now, so I bet I'd still get reduced to tears if I saw it now. Shows how much of a connection this show had to me, I guess.

i had borrowed all seasons on DVD from my friend for christmas vacation, believe it or not the episode "Code of Hero" still got to me.
and the whole storyline made much more sense (when i first saw it i saw it because of 1) the action 2) the comedy[waspinator] )

Beast Wars was the greatest Transformers remake/add-on ever. All the re-makes suck (energon, cybertron, whatever they call it) and beast machines was just too environmentalist campaignish (sp?).

Why was Beast Wars awesome?
1. The reduced number of characters compared to the original. I mean the original was great, everyone had their favorites, but in this one their was a smaller group that you got to know, love, and hate.

2. The character all had personality. The originals did too, but due to the smaller cast you really got to know each character. The knight in shining armor (Silverbolt), the samurai who fought battles he knew he couldn't win (Dinobot), the smart-alleck street talking punk (rattrap.)

3. This one is being blacked out for spoiler purposes. When the characters died, it didn't feel like their death was forced to make room for new characters as in the original Transformers movie (Optimus dies from a hole in his side, while Ultra Magnus is blown apart and put back together. WTF?!). The effect of their deaths is dramatic, especially when coupled with points 1 and 2. I cried over Airazor, and had too salute Dinobot during their demise.

I mean it was that good.

God, I loved the ending of this show. Especially when the screen cut back to Waspinator as king of the humans and him stating in his hilarious voice: "Waspinator finally happy!" God, I loved that!

Also, I found all of the alternate forms later on in the show cool, except forOptimus' forms. I mean, he could fly from the beginning, right? Except he'd have to be robot form. Cool. Then, suddenly, they make him a primate on a snowboard, which flies. I though that was a bit lame. But then Optimal Optimus was worst. This is Beast Wars, people! Not, Let's-turn-Optimus-Primal-in-a-bad-clone-of-Optimus-Prime Wars! I loathed that form of him.

And, ofcourse Megatron. He was always the coolest. "Yes..." And let's not forget... Quackers? The rubber duck. XD

Rattrap was cool too. When flying on Optimus' back, the jetpacks died. R= "AAAAH! We're gonna die!" O= "Can't you be a little bit more optimistic?" R= "Okay. First we're gonna fall, and THEN we're gonna die!" God, I loved that little rat.

*disclaimer: I may have butchered a few quotes. No harm done, right?

Hehehe, Rattrap was funny, but not as funny as Waspinator. Although DepthCharge was the most interesting character (IMO).

Hmm. I always had a thing for Inferno. That guy was insane in the membrane, but in a classy way.

Plus, he took himself out to stop the maximals during the end of season 2. That's hard core.

Heh, I almost forgot about Inferno. He's so insane, its awesome. Although I do have one problem with him. After they introduced Inferno, the writers changed the name of the Predicon foundry from "The Inferno" to "The Pit," which was a definite downgrade IMO.

"It looks like someone is out for an evening stroll ....... at mach two."

Megatron and Inferno are probably the most entertaining characters, but there were so many good lines in this show.

I miss Beast Wars. And especially Rattrap. And Waspinator. His ability to be constantly blown up, smashed, decapitated and appear good as new in the next episode was hilarious. And especially in the episode where Megatron turned Rhinox into a predacon for a brief period of time, and he knocked Waspinator silly. Blackarachnia: "He's wacko." Waspinator: "Not Wacko, Wonko, Wonko the sa-a-a-a-a-ne!"

Sesshoumaru

Not just in the next episode Mv2 *spoiler* in season 3's "Feral Scream," when Dinobot2 and Waspinator are hunting Cheetor, Dinobot slices Waspinator to ribbons. Five minutes later, Waspinator is all right except for a limp arm wrapped in a bandage. Now theres some high level self healing powers! *spoiler

One thing that pisses me off though, I checked Best Buy's website for Beastwars DVDs, they want sixty friggen dollars for season 1!

Ah Beast Wars. It was definatelly my favorite television show as a kid/pre-teen. However, I can still never forgive them for killing off Scorpinok. He was just too cool, and too funny!

I loved beast wars and beast machines. My personal fave: Cheetor. He was cool, bad ass and had some good character development. He really matured alot in Beast machines though, but Ratrap was always his whiny little self.

I also liked Rinox. He was great because even though he did not have his form change, he could still match might with the best. Shame what they did to him in Beast Machines though.

Waspinator was good comic relief. He was the anoying guy which always got torn up, blown up, electrucuted, shredded, and a wholelot of other nasty things that happened aswell.

One of my favourite parts was when Cheetor was trying to teach the apes about how to use tools, and waspinator kidnaps them. The female pulled off one of his legs and beat him over the head with a stick... in mid-air. I could not stop laughing. Then they took it off air... cheepoes

On the upside, YTV is showing Beast Machines nowadays, and shadow raiders, which was... mildly good.

But if they never re-play Beastwars, I will kill them all with a fricken' spork.

Oh man, memories. Beast Wars was by far my favorite of the Transformers series. I loved Waspinator ("oooooh wassspinator hate doggie-bot") and my person favorite, Inferno. I mean, anyone who goes around calling Megatron "my queen" is a-ok in my books.

Oh, and when I was 12 I so scoured ebay to look for a Quackers with a Predacon symbol on it to call my own, yessssss!

Is that how we're supposed to do things? I swear, I'm making this all up as I go along.

Ah well. I mean come on, who doesn't love Beast Wars?

Well, hell, everything I had to say was in the Transformers thread already. So, summarize;

I fucking love Beast Wars, Code of a Hero was a fan-fucking-tastic episode, Silverbolt and Blackarachnia were hilarious together, I hated 80% of Beast Machines, I want to shake the hand of the guy who invented Rattrap, BW Megs was so much cooler than G1 Megs or G2 Galvatron, and why do all of the Beast Wars games fucking blow!?

I've had the entire series burnt on CD for years. Bought it cheap off a guy on Ebay - worth every penny. So I don't really need these DVDs

Of course by "don't really need" I mean "oxygen has fallen one spot on my necessary for survial list."

I was eight when the show originally aired. EIGHT. I remember loving this show to death, even to the point that I would run around the house in crazy (crappy) costumes, and roleplay with my massive collection of Transformers toys.

I missed a lot of episodes because we didn't get YTV, and it made me sad. However, because I missed all of those episodes, I didn't know that Dinobot dies.

For ruining that, I say this: Fuck you. Fuck you all. Fuck you and your little (non-transforming) dog too.

Excuse me while I go and spend my education fund on DVDs.

I have fond memories of beast wars and beast machines... watching an episode or two directly after my twice weekly roleplaying sessions at university.

Ah the memories.

Now I just have to scrounge up enough change to get the dvds... *knocks more things off her to buy list to make room*
