Oh kay. So. Episode 81.

What'd you think that is? The Gold thing in the back i mean. What's it look like to you what and what does that mean?

To me, I see a golden dragon, whose lower body is being covered by a Black-shadow-tentacle-demon thing. You can see the tips of the wings and the lower parts of the leg on the other side of the boxes. What'd ya think?

Hmmm...could be. Could also be some sort of angelic creature of light wearing Holy Amor (going from the whole "gold" look).

Personally, I always thought it an entirely symbolic representation of a Nexus in the form of Man, with the strange wings and legs and such showing the ever-changing nature of a Nexus, and the black crack down the front symbolic of a Nexus on the verge of opening.

It's Chaos... the Final boss from Final Fantasy I.

Yep, that's what it is.

Hahaha, Chaos has a giant black "tentacle"[;)] crap running up its groin and into its chest.

Hmm, chaos eh..

More and more I'm having trouble believing Brian when he said nobody is going to turn into Chaos.

Maybe the Onion Kid turns into Chaos

Juggy#3

I've considered that possiblity. Hasn't Brian said something about how we "havn't seen the last of Onion Kid"?

More likely, though, it will just be more of Onion Kid getting horribly screwed with.

Technically, someone wouldn't actually "turn into" Chaos if they always was him, they just didn't know it?

Agreed. It's Brian's way of trying to trick us with technicallities.

Or not, and we're completely wrong. Hard to say with him sometimes.

...Ok, all the time.

Well... in the game, it's Garland who turns into chaos at the very end.

Of course, it's a very different Garland than the one we know.

Yeah...but he still had the line, "I Garland, Will Knock You All Down!" which was stupid.

If the recent quotes and things I have seen are correct, the exact way Brian put it was, "Nobody "becomes" Chaos." So that could mean Chaos is summoned, Chaos is already around, Chaos inhabits BB's headless body and instantly dies but not before covering the universe in blood - feel free to speculate wildly.

In the beginning of their time as LW they were told by Kng Steve to defeat Chaos
This implies chaos already exist whether or not he possesses gets summoned or is one of the current characters but in disguise in such a way he doesn't know about it
he already exists as a known being no one will beocme him

Word.

But yes, to follow up, I think the major issue had to do with the idea the BM is to become Chaos, and this is most likely false. It should probably be noted that, at this point, the 8BT Light Warriors are on a completely different adventure than their FF1 counterparts. It's possible that Chaos could draw power from the Nexus, which is what BM essentially is. However, I'm not entirely sure we'll ever have a solid appearance by Chaos since he hasn't been mentioned since they first went up against Garland. Hell, Garland seems unconcerned with his former master. Could be that the Chaos myth is far bigger than the reality.

What if Chaos is a group of evil gods? BM never said Chaos was singular.

Of course, it's a very different Garland than the one we know.He doesn't do it by himself though, he must use the four beasts he unleashed into the LWs present time to do it. If I remember correctly, wikipedia says something about how he absorbs the remains of them.

What does chaos have to do with the nexus? Isn't the nexus BM?

What if Chaos is just a red herring, I wouldn't be surprised if there was no Chaos at all or if Chaos ends up being much weaker than we expect and it turns out that the REAL evil is someone else; BM, onion kid I don't care who, I just don't think Chaos will be that important in the end.

No, he is the same. I fired up FFI this morning and Garland is a joke. Just for fun I killed off the rest of my party and took him on with a level 2 fighter. He was still easy. Ok so the love for baking cookies is new, but Garland was always a joke. Brian just found a way to make the joke funny instead of pathetic.

Definately Chaos. I played Dawn of Souls and beat it. I didn't know it was Chaos back then though, since I never did have the game...and I have bad memory...

Yeah, Garland becomes Chaos in the game.

Yes, he says, "I, Garland, will knock you all down!"

Yeah, he was really weak at first.

I'm just saying that FF1 Garland actually succeeded in wreaking havoc on the world indefinately alongside the Four Fiends due to the entire crazy time-loop storyline. (Or you could also say that never happened because the Light Warriors ended the loop... but it did!)

That Garland was competent, but when you first see him he's at the "beginning" of the loop, so of course he's going to suck. Not to mention that fighters were pretty godly in that game- at least from my experience.

And Webelos, Thanks! : D

Is there any other FF game other than FF1 (and all of its remakes) where chaos appears or cameos or some other crap?

I'm pretty sure that Chaos in that form is in no other Final Fantasy.

The alias Chaos has been in several FF's actually, although it's not the same Chaos.

what doodle said is true. im pretty sure in FFVII (ive never played, i stick with the old skool FF but a friend told me.) Vincents 4th limit break is called "Chaos"
but as far as "brian said that no ones gonna become chaos so no one is." theory
brian also said there'd be no time travel and yet Thief just did a few comics ago, so i really dont rely on to much of what brian says, excluding where he said

"how much goddamn clearer do i have to make it that BB is not comin back."
thats not the actual quote (im to lazy to look it up:D ) but its close.

Or Thief lied.

I just like funny and interesting things to happen. I don't care if they're predicted or not. People predict just about everything, and sometimes it's right but almost always someone says nothing predictable happens, or nothing unpredictable happens. As far as I can tell predictable and unpredictable things happen, but anything anyone comes up with is ruled out, because someome's thought of it. Damn extrospection.

I'm pretty sure that I can soundly say that BM is the nexus. In the epsiode about the nexus, you see a strange pattern at the bottom of the strip. In comic 248, you see the same pattern representing BM's head.

Good point, that's another thing to say "BM's the nexus!"
