View Full Version : Shadowrun RP: Greed is good...
Forever Zero

OOC: Alright, this is my first time with an RP, so I'm still getting the hang of when to post a new thread. Perhaps in the future people want to suggest when to start a new thread?
The Safehouse
After everyone got back to the safehouse, and Mendel confirmed that the chips were the right one, they discussed what to do next. They would need to get the chips back to the Johnson, and they would also need to pay back, or try to pay back, what they owe for the gear they got from Diesal. They knew that since this was their first job, the Nuyen wouldn't be great, but they figured they would manage and that a new job would be availabe soon enough. Also, they still needed to get some transportation of their own at some point since public transportation may not want to ferry customers under heavy fire...
OOC: Basically, you need to pay back Torn, Diesal, and get the chips to the Johnson, then you need to get ready for the next mission. And Luocorn has now posted, but is still going to need to join up at some point.

Patch listened in with his laser mic, as much as he would have liked to wait longer, it wouldn't be prudent to do so. Two of his adversaries had passed out from exhaustion already, a third had been drinking alcohol since he had arrived back at the hotel room. The forth member seemed to be intent on deck activities, which probably ment he would be a decker, and therfore a non-threat. The fifth was the only one who might be a problem, he hadn't been doing much, and from all likelyhood he was one of the splats who had a good arsenal. Patch hated taking chances, but it seemed that the only way to complete this mission, and fulfill his contract, was to take a big risk with this operation.
Ok... Here goes nothing... or everything.
Patch carefully aimed his Ares Alpha at the hotel room and let loose with a flash grenade, a gas grenade, and even a concussion grenade just in case. If that didn't at least stun them, he didn't know what would.

Covenant watched the grenades pass in. A spin kick knocked the gas one out, and his sunglasses polarized to stop the flash grenade. When the electromagnetic field shot out, his coat deafened it. The noise made his ears ring though. He stumbled back, and got out into the hall.
"Okay, whoever just did that is getting his ass kicked."
Forever Zero

Mendel watched the first grenade bounce in, and as Covenant jumped up to kick it away Mendel shoated, "Grenade! Move!" He grabed the case of chips and ran for the door, but before he got there the flash one went off. His cybereyes adjusted to the sudden blast (OOC: Glad I put in flare compensation now...) and went for the door, just as the concussion grenade went off, hitting everything with an invisable wave of pure force, and threw Mendel into the hall, stunning him.

[Edit]
Flecks of glass flew through the air. All of them seemed to linger in stasis. His movements were a blur.
Getting up from the floor, he had seconds to choose what he needed to do. Throwing his arms up and over his ears he rolled into the far corner. Eyes closed, ears covered the flash and concussion grenade's effects were dampened.
But he still felt it.
Drawing his gun as he rose, spinning to face the window as he did so, he noted that Angela was unconcious still, Cov and Mendel were no longer i the room, and Drek was pointing his shotgun at ...

(OOC: Um... I’m sorry to say, but I fired the grenades through the window, So while I could have come up the stairs, I didn’t. Sorry Demon, your gonna have to change your post. And I wanted to wait until the other two had posted to post again, but since it's been twenty four hours without them posting, I'm just going to say that Dante was still passed out, and IMHO was taken by suprise.)
Patched had slung his Alpha across his back and checked again that the line was secure, as the commotion in the hotel room reached a critical mass he slide off the roof of the building beside it and half climbed, half swung over to the hotel. As he stiffened his legs, and used his momentum to break the remaining glass on the window he tucked himself into a ball and rolled to his feet, tossing one more grenade into the hallway where three of the targets had already fled.
Not waiting to watch the grenade go off he pulled his dart pistol out of it’s holster and almost blindly fired off two into the girl still on the couch, and two into that man who seemed to be to stunned to even move.

OOC: Argh... too caught up in other stuff to post... Let's see... I'll have to RP... a KOed person? Damn, Luocorn, do you know how hard that is? ^^
BIC:
Angela had stirred slightly upon hearing the flashbangs - 183 decibels and 2 million candelas would wake up anyone bar a corpse - but was too groggy to react properly. However, she was conscious long enough to see Patch fire a couple of darts into her as he made his entrance. She immediately tried to activate the trauma dampeners' stimulants, but the fast-acting narcotic was too much for the system, and she drifted off into reluctant sleep again.

ooc-Feh, I'm not even sure if I'm in this RP anymore. Or, if I am, which character Truance would be. (Doesn't drink, doesn't tire out as he has less movement to deal with than the others, and while he hadn't been doing much he didn't have many guns)
ooc-I'll post/edit when I'm sure.

Drek eyes had adjusted when the flash grenade went off, and due to his cyberware and him being the furthest away from it, the other grenade's blast only caused him to stumble.
Watching as the others ran out of the door, Drek saw a guy jump through the window, then shot at Angela and him. The two darts hit Drek, but due to his cyberware armor, they bounced off harmlessly.
Before the dart gun guy could do anything else, Drek raised his shotgun (It is almost always in his right hand), cocking it as he lifted it, and aimed it at the man's head. "Move and I'll dust you."

(OOC: edited my last post! Yay!)
Staying in the corner of the room he was directly aside of the window. If Patch hadn't noticed him, he might have and advantage. If he had, and undoubtedly he would sooner or later, nothing really changed.
His quarry was outside the room, he had two guns pointed at him, and only one exit. If Conrad missed with his Berreta, Drek would get him with his shotgun.
He hated Mexican standoffs.
The whole situation reminded him of a simsense movie he once watched. If everything resolved itself like it did in movies, only one of them would be standing in the aftermath.
With that aftermath in mind, he waited for Drek or the Intruder to make a move.

(OOC: well I guess several days is a long enough wait... I mean if people are even still interested in this thread, I am.)
Patch held his hands above his head, he released his hold on the pistol and let it dangle from his finger before dropping it on the carpeted floor. With a slight grin on his face, he turned to face the man with the shotgun.
“Impressive, I wasn’t expecting dermal plating, that’s what I get for not taking all things into account. You know, I was thinking about letting this whole thing go... I don’t like fragging other people in our field, bad for business, bad for the rep. But I’ve got a contract to fulfill,” Patch glanced down at the man crouched in the dark near the window, “You know how that is... right?”
“So hears what I’m gonna do for you chummer. I’m only going to take half the chips in that bag. That means we both get to fulfill our contracts, or at least not have to scrag the whole thing. Now in exchange for those data chips I’ll not only give you the anti-venom for what I just injected into your friend over there,” He nodded his head towards Angel, “But I won’t trash your room on my way out... Oh, and I might even lend you my services at a latter date, I think you could probably use all the help you can get... Sound fair?” He grinned

Conrad holstered his barreta.
Limping slightly, he stood face to face with Patch. Looking him up and down, he raised an eyebrow. He tried to milk the most theatrics the moment would allow. Finally, when the moment was abused of all theatrical quality, he said, "We give you half the chips, you give us the anti-vemon, and we'll cal it a deal."
He offered his hand to Patch. "But I don't accept 'Good Time Charlies.' You're either in 100% with us, or not at all." The smile on his face was proof enough that he felt that they could use someone like Patch.
"My name is Conrad Hart, and you should know right now, I won't accept 'No' as an answer."

Drek re-cocked his shotgun, still aimed at Patch and Conrad. "Half the chips is to much. I want money, I've got something in the shop."
Demon with a Glass Hand
01-17-2004, 10:27 PM
Conrad considered that.
"We all have debts to pay off right now. We'll pay it off slowly, with a couple of runs under our belt. Don't be unreasonable here, Drek."

"Actually, my employers will be suprised that I only came back with half the chips, if that's what happend. they had confidence enough to hire me as a solitary individual because I don't wave my toys around and blow things up... But that is besides the point. Half the chips, and I'll be more then happy to join with you if you feel my services are needed."
He eyed Drek with a look of mild revulsion.
"And trust me, my bargaining position is much better then I'm leading on. It's called not revealing all your cards at once."

"You mean those backup guys?"
Covenant moved Patch's head so he saw the three men who'd been ready to snipe them lying on the ground moaning.
Covenant noted the grenades, and avoided them. Instead he stripped the man of all his guns.
"You really aren't in a position to negotiate. It's very black or white." He raised one of the stolen guns and put it to the back of his head.
"You back off, or we kill you."

OOC: Wow, this RP still alive? Anyway, SS, that was EXTREMELY god-moddy. Not only did you beat up unmentioned back up that porbably didn't exist, but disabled a grenade that explodes on impact? I'm gonna have to say no...
EDIT OOC: Plus your an adept, not a thief. You fight like a maniac at melee, but you aren't a master at thievery or anything.
Mendel said, "Hey, we worked for these chips, not you! You just came from behind and tried to scalp us. Who hired you anyway, only one group was supposed to know about these!?"

"First off, it was the otherway around, I was about to slot and run with the chips when your antics caused the Triads to get a little upset and your pall over there scalped the bag from me. And what makes you think you could find the anti-venom on my body? Seriously, you haven't been running very long. And don't try the shot gun blast... some very... very bad things would happen if you tried that."
Patch stared Drek in the eye

"Fine." Drek raised his left arm. His wrist Uzi came up from his cyber arm, the smart link pointing at Patches head. "I'll just blow off your head then." Drek kept the shotgun aimed lower, around his groin area.
OOC: And I'm going to assume everyone else has backed away from Patch.

Forever Zero
01-18-2004, 11:52 PM
OOC: He may be intimidating, but it is very hard to intimidate a room full of Shadowrunners, no matter how scary you are. I may not be rolling stats, but I'm gonna have to say your intimidation roll would have almost no chance of succeding since I can think up more than a few penalties off the top of my head agianst you... All in good fun however.
Mendel jumped up, still carrying the case, and said, "Whoa everybody, let's calm down here. First, how did you find us, and who is your employer? We won't blast you unless we need to, but I'm sure our medic could fix up an antidote if he needed to, and you aren't giving us many options."

"Why would I ever reveal that information? That's like asking if I have a SIN and what the number is. And I've given you enough options to run with here. Half the chips is more then fair, heck, I would call in generous."
Patch looked over at Mendel and smiled.
"And I'll even tell you how I found you for free... but make a decision fast, we only have about 13 more minutes before the nearest Lonestar finds his way over here to investigate the explosion."

Conrad was close enough to Patch to be caught in whatever Drek was planning with the uzi and shotgun.
"I hate mexican standoffs." Staying by Patch but looking at Mendel he offered, "We copy the chips. We find someone who can do a real good job in a short amount of time. The fake set goes with him," Thumbing behind him at Patch. "We keep the real set. If you get caught, and your employer discovers that they are fakes, that's your luck. You seem gutsy enough to accept. You did try something a little crazier when you crashed our pad. If not and you succeed, you meet up with us at a disclosed location and we talk about signing you up. How about that?"

Mendel's hands shook, but he was able to get the case open. Inside were the rows of data-chips, carefully placed so they weren't damaged. He sorted through and removed about a third, then handed them to patch, assuming he would have a safe place for them. Patch slotted a few chips into his Pocketsec making sure they where the data that he was told to retrieve. Confirming that it was he pocketed both items and smiled.
"well it's been a real hum zinger folks, and if you all don't get slotted before we meet again I might buy a couple of you a synth-ale. About that antidote..."
Patched reached into his pocket and took out a little medicide bottle and a Cat stick, in one smooth motion he touched the stick to the rope that had been attached to his climbing gear since he rolled in, and threw the bottle to Medel.
The rope desintagrated with a touch letting loose the detonator it had been tied to on the roof, the floor around patch suddenly burst into a white hot light and he dropped down into the room below while shouting.
"That's some asprin, she might have a headache when she wakes up form the Tranqs!"

OOC: Down IHMN! I'll give the signal as Mendel if your gonna shoot him.
The situation is more complicated then that. The safehouse is far from the car explosion (which I assume you are talking about) so I assumed your guy tipped off Lonestar to give our guys a time limit. What they did was fair for the situation, which wasn't such a good situation, being vastly outnumberd and facing a near borg...

Unfourtunately, IHMN it seems your objective is the same as your character. Taking out frustration against Luo/Patch. Just an observation. Suddely as everyone was arguing inside, they heard an explosion from downstairs. Mendel listened for a second with his Cyberears and said, "It's Lonestar! We all have to get out of here now!" He closed up the case and grabbed his stuff and said, "If crazy man can come in, we're going out the window!" 01-21-2004, 01:17 AM
Conrad's heart started beating again. He was truly afraid that he would have to hold out against the Lonestar Patrol alone until she woke up.
"Hey there, girl." He smiled. "I'm going to shift you so that you can hang onto my shoulders with your arms and my waist with your legs okay?" Shifting her so that she was riding him 'piggyback,' he wrapped his arms behind his back and around her.
"Mendel!" He shouted to Mendel over the sounds of the sirens. "Get out while you can and meet me back at the club with that fixer, okay? Call the others to meet you there, too. I ... misplaced my phone. But I'll be there okay. I promise."
Steadying Angela, and looking down at Mendel on the fire escape he took a few deep breaths. Readying himself, called down to Mendel and added. "You did a real good job, tough guy. Thanks for pulling our assess out of the fire." He smiled. It was the kind of smile that said 'I'll see you soon' and 'Goodbye' at the same time.
"Hang on, Kid."
Backing up into the room he mad a mad dash out towards the fire escape, he leaped across to the next building's fire escape and proceeded to climb to the roof. Turning to look down at Mendel he added, "Keep that equipment safe, okay. It's all you for a while, but I'll be back to take care of you guys soon. Null Sweet Chummer!"
He felt bad about leaving the poor guy all alone, but he still had the others to help him through. As Conrad leaped from building to building, he ruminated on what had to be done.
In the end, the question was the same.
Would he be able to do it?
(OOC:I think this is a good time to switch to a new thread, Zero. Start us off by meeting up at the bar and deciding what to do next or something like that. Sound good?)
