Magipedia... That looks just like me when someone asks me "Hey, you know what ________ is?". Just move over the keyboard, open favorites, enter item in question and, viola, there you go.
Great Comic, Brian! Kudos!

I love how you brought up the incredible stupidity of fish. My sister during her few years as a vegetarian was aware of this and when ever we had seafood explained, 'They're vegetables that twitch,' and it is in fact quite true. They're about as food efficient as plants too. At least compared to cows.

I had fish that I trained to eat the food out of my hands.
oh wait, that was a natural Reaction....... all Oscers do that.
nevermind.
Hmm what IS fighter gonna do to prove that he is Indeed dumber than a fish.

I loved the indepth magipedia, but there was an err in that it was called Wikipedia by one icthyologistawhatsit in the indepth part. But I'm sure no one was really paying attention to care, so no worries.
I mean, you just "finessed" it anyway.
It is rather like Wikipedia before recent guidelines, when you'll read this amazingly detailed article that talks about every nuance of a topic, yet the guy will somehow mispell "the" twice and forget the letter "e".
Also, who would have guessed the sub would have the internet, especially since the FF world so far seems to be in the dark ages, aside from flying deathtraps and pimped out lowriding chocobos.

Did anyone else feel an intense feeling of dread when Fighter left to prove BM wrong?
Also how DO you mine for fish? I gots teh fish poll 2 and I m lawst after that.
Also, who would have guessed the sub would have the internet
It's called Magipedia for a reason, stoopid-head!

Obviously whoever wrote that thought (mistakenly) that they were posting on Wikipedia, not Magipedia.

What's really funny about the comic is that the image of Magipedia in the comic is a screen shot of an altered version of the discussion page for the fish article in Wikipedia. Hence the reference to it by the ichthyologist. Brian just added the How I Mine For Fish section and changed the text in the Do Fish Feel Pain section. The warm blooded fish debate was left unchanged though. It is a really funny comic.

Fighter would be proud of being the stupidest creature in the world if he were smart enough to realise it.

You need bait, Every good fisherman masters bait, and knows that fishing is all about feel of the rod in your hand, the quick action of your wrist and the mastery of your bait.
I think Fighter has gone fishing with the intent of asking the fish BM took a swim with a series of intelligence testing questions, or possibly riddles, or maybe he wants to eat the fish's brain, because if fish is brain food then fish brains must be like brain steroids.
Edited for spelling and clarity.

Yeah I'm also wondering what is Fighter up to over there, I can somehow just tell that bashing was somehow his doing... and that the others will later question how the pressure isn't making him implode, especially Black Mage

Was I the only one who noticed two references to M-Theory in the most recent issue? One on Magipedia and one in Brian's comments about Macio the cat curling into a Calabi-Yau manifold. Has someone been reading Brian Greene's The Elegant Universe?
Plus, the Magipedia page also says "Contact Wikipedia" on the links.

"You can't prove that!"
I'm pretty sure you can, just that magipedia probably isn't all that great. Do all those languages actually exist in the FF world too?
One last point, considering they've already discovered flight and submarines, it's not surprising for the internet to follow. More than likely, a wizard did it.

Does Fighter take pride in being the stupidest creature in the world or is he just stupid? xD
No, I think it's just that Black Mage implied that something was better than him, and Fighter is so competitive that he can't take that sitting down.
Do all those languages actually exist in the FF world too?
I'm sure FF has been ported to those languages.
Also, who would have guessed the sub would have the internet, especially since the FF world so far seems to be in the dark ages, aside from flying deathtraps and pimped out lowriding chocobos.
OK, you can just accept the fact that the have air travel and submersibles but as soon as you see an internet you can't take it?
Melfice
08-15-2006, 11:32 AM
Actually... no.
It hasn't been translated in Dutch (Nederlands).
However, I'm surprised that there are so many Dutch mages around, to warrant it's own section on Magipedia... *goes off to hunt them down*
Nice comic by the way... though I find that, 'side from the occasional quote, this section is not as funny for me personally.
Guess that's just me.

What I found most amusing was:
1) That was an actual wikipedia page with some of the talk edited, such as the VGcats WoW gag and the M theory. (yeah, I actually visited the talk section of wikipedia's fish article to check).
2) I wasn't the first. Someone had already posted, dated Aug 15, in one of the sections in the image under the name "Sir Chocobo".

Edit:
Heads up section of Talk Fish on ]The fish talk page was recently shown on this site[2] (8-bit theatre, for those of you who dont recognize). The article was on a fake wikipedia imitation, Magipedia. It was stated that fish are like plants that move, and I'm just saying that someone is bound to make an edit related to this. Thought you'd like to know.DoomsDay349 04:14, 15 August 2006 (UTC)
U r a idoit. LOLOLOLOLOLO ;) - Fëaluinix 12:40, 15 August 2006 (UTC)
Someone already did make an edit related to this. Check the history of the discussion. In "Do fish feel pain?" someone changed the whole thing to "I mean, come on. They're basically moving plants. It's not like they'd be able to calculate the nuances of M-Theory." You have no proof it was me. 13:48, 15 August 2006 (UTC) (DAMN YOU FëALUINIX! YOU BEAT ME TO IT!)
Freakin hilarious to whoever added that little fish mining comment on my message. DoomsDay349 16:43, 15 August 2006 (UTC)

What surprises me most about the FF world having internet, and them having a Wireless Internet ready laptop on hand, is that it gets a signal thousands of miles under the ocean.

Signals travel easier through water than air. It's a well known fact.
It's also a well known fact that humor trumps logic in this comic. :)

I acutally thought of a way to mine for fish. See, first thing you need is an underwater mine... and lots of dynamite. It's blast fishing and mining at the same time, but you can still be "mining for fish."
While it may have killed the joke, that may be insightful to anyone who questions the humor > logic aspect of webcomics.

Hey all! Though the accuracy of Magipedia is questionable compared to the original Wiki, there is worse. I've long forgotten the url so try Googling "Uncyclopedia" the next time you're bored. Look up something potentially humorous and be stupefied.
I just figured the computer was a useless addon by sarda since Red Mage is such a silly suck up around him. Until it occurred to me that Sarda won't show such charity unless it's actually doing harm. So... my goodness, I've hit a mental wall here.
