... oy, this isn't going to be pretty.
Anyway, it'll be up when it's up, there's no use complaining about it. Show some patience, and if it really inconveniences you THAT much that a few people aren't available in the middle of the night to make a thread that will primarily be populated by "LAWL BLACK MAGE SO FUNNY BRIAN IS GOD," get some sleep. You probably need it anyway.

I don't beleve there is a way to do this. Besides, since it's Brian that makes the comic topics, if there's some hidden joke he wants to let us forumites on, he can tell us then.

I think our Clevinger 2.0 plugin is working just fine.

Brian's gone for the weekend. (http://www.nuklearpower.com/)
So if anybody's going to make the thread, it's not going to be him. But yeah, one of the mods will get around to it eventually.

Byrd, if you don't want to wait for a thread to be created for a new episode, you could always try PMing whatever mod happens to be online at the time and asking him or her to create one.

Addendum: if you don't see Brian around and it's been more than, say, half an hour.

I am now suprised this thread hasn't been closed.
But that does look like one of the biggest flame bait messages I've seen yet! Then again, I could be challenging people now

Personally, I don't see the problem, or any reason to start flaming. Bryd was simply asking the question of whether or not automatic postings could take place. Such a question hurts nobody, and he wasn't all that rude about the asking, so I don't understand the cringing.
Not that its going to happen, but it doesn't hurt to ask. I mean, I imagine the trouble of trying to impliment something like that into the forums would be more trouble than its worth. Of course, if anybody is feeling like a go-getter I suppose it wouldn't hurt to shoot off a e-mail to the makers of vBulletin & suggest this feature gets added in future revisions.
Anybody feeling like a go-getter? I thought not.
And Meister, for some reason I think if you're going to switch to the half-hour rule, you might want to consider some regulations. For instance, if say a half hour (& you might want to extend this to 45 minutes) has expired, a user can post... However, they should be encouraged to follow the following Rules:
Rule 1: Refresh & see if any recent posts have been made. Avoid making duplicate comic threads.
Rule 2: Initially post just the subject line & only after the thread is posted, go back & edit the thread. This way, there's less of a chance that duplicate threads will be created, because the less time it takes to create a thread, the less dupicate threads that will be created.
Rule 3: If a duplicate thread(s) are created. It is encouraged that the creators quietly talk amounst themselves (via PM) to choose which thread will survive. The thread(s) that won't continue, should be edited to remove all content & the subject line changed to 'Delete this Thread'.
Or not. Your choice.

Heh, thanks for working something out, but I don't think we're going to need special rules for that. Brian's around to make the thread 99% of the time, and the remaining 1%, waiting a bit doesn't hurt. It probably shouldn't take as long as today, but those threads are around for 2-3 days, after all.
No, the reason I said "half an hour" was that I don't feel like getting flooded with PMs saying "make comic thread please" whenever Brian takes five minutes to make the discussion thread instead of posting at midnight sharp.
ok thanks yall and sky warrior is right im not very smart with computers but it does make sense that that would be nigh impossible to imlement something such as that. any way thanks and i would say go ahead and lock this one up.

Yeah, I can't see why not.
