I used to play CounterStrike a long time ago.
The year was 2001. I was playing and replaying Half-life and all of the expansions and mods for HL I could get my hands on. I eventually acquired CounterStrike over the internet. There were two problems though: 1( I sucked. I died about every ten seconds, and 2( I grew tired of cries of "fuccing noobs!!1111" So I went to a website and downloaded POD Bot. It was POD Bot 2.0 when I downloaded it. Don't know what it is now. I started setting up LAN games so I could play by myself against bots. However, sometimes real players would join in and spoil my afternoon.
But then, I thought of something. My version of CounterStrike was CS 1.1. After a while, a new version came out. Everyone converted, except for me. I could still set up my LAN games, and no one else could join in, because I was running CS 1.1 and everyone else was running CS 1.2 or 1.3; it was multiplaying bliss! For nearly a year, I would play CS on all the official maps, and I got really good at it. However, after a while, I could predict the patterns of my POD bot allies and enemies, so then I got bored and deleted it. Haven't played CS since.
I do have Half-Life 2, and I do have CS: Source ready for download via Steam, but I haven't played it. I don't think my outdated LAN trick would work on CS:S, and I despise online gamers.
As for CS itself, it's fun, so long as you know what you're doing. It strikes a perfect balance between realism and fun. And I love Assasination mode. If only I could play with people I can trust . . .

I play Counter Strike: Source a great deal. the addrenaline from killing all the players on the other team by yourself, or deactivating a bomb right before it explodes, or the playful banter amongst the headsets. I love the game, but now I have Ragnarok Online to play, and school's starting soon. eh, I have alot of free time, even on school day's.

Dude, CSS even comes with bots. No need to download anything extra.
I've played it a few times, the only reason I have CSS installed is for GMOD to work properly. I didn't like waiting up to four minutes just to respawn, and it wern't too fun if you managed to survive the round anyway.

Source I cannot stand, you move way too slow and the guns are far too accurate, in all its just too darn easy. I began CS in the beta days and have moved up to 1.6 for my mainstay, CZ has far too many script kiddies and see above for CS:S. Played on a Cal-i team for a bit then got sick of it and now only play for fun.

Isn't that the point? to have fun playing it?

I used to play CS:S constantly.
But then, my computer crashed, and I lost half of my data. And, wonder of wonders, I'd lost most of the discs for said games. My music was also erased.
I never bothered to pick it up again.

God I wish I could get back into CS. Anyone remember clan KOTRC? GAHH! WHAT HAPPEND TO THEM?!
Also remember CS for XBOX? That used to be the "STUFF"... Now its full of people who don't speak a lick of english. But still, they are very good. A challenge I might say.
Does anyone know if they are making a CS for 360?

I've played counterstrike once or twice at supernova's house. I got supremely owned most of the time but I did do well once against 3 terrorists. I got 2 of them and got the third down to like 20% health when he got me with an AK. That was one of my best rounds but other than that, I'd usually only get one or two before I get taken down. I do like it but I don't have an available credit card so the only way I'm gonna get the game is if I manage to find it in stores. I heard there is a counterstrike anniversary collection that has the original and source though so I'm gonna try and pick that up.

Close. It's the Counter-Strike anthology and it comes with the original, Condition Zero, and CZ Deleted Scenes. It'll run you about 20 bucks. Source however, will run you about 40 bucks. Not worth it i think considering it's just a prettier version of the original.

Meh. It still might be worth it. I'm gonna trade in a whole bunch of PSP games I don't play and pick up that or Lego Star Wars 2, or if cheap enough, both.

It may be true that CS:S is the same game but prettier, but keep this in mind:
You can't play Counter Strike: Source with Counter Strike 1.6, and not alot of people play the old version. Refusing to buy the new one and still attempting to play CS is futile, or illegal.
So ha.
