I was at one of my other forums today, and was absolutely appalled by what I was reading. Beevis and Butthead, devolved, would not apply such twists and mutations to the English language.

Neither would they stoop to the depths of underhell for topics.

Please allow me to thank my fellow posters here on this forum for being Adults / decently grown up. If you are younger than the age of majority, or if you refuse to actually grow up, then be thanked as a "Mature Child".

Here at Nuklear Power, one can find food for the brain as well as the heart. It has been such a pleasure to read and participate. The forum games are clever, the discussion threads as decently even as possible, and even the moderated spam topic is amusing. I also like the fact that there is an "Arts and Crafts" selection, so that we as members can share our passions in art.

The Administrator and Moderator Teams are also stellar in their ministrations.
If not for your no nonsense attitude, gracious KNOWS what aberrations of the human soul would splat over these pages.
They appear to be the perfect combination of Terminator and Mr. Rogers...well, maybe not FifthFiend (for what words can really DESCRIBE that particular malevolent-sounding yet fair person?), but that`s another story.

Again, thank you for making this forum kick-ass, everyone. My heart is ajoy with happiness and goodwill.

I actually prefer this to another forum i once frequented. However, it was ruined by the fact there were some people who were opnely hostile towards people and the fact the mods didn't seem to give a rats ass anymore. While NPF t me seems like a clean well adjusted place, this other was like War Torn Europe circa 1940.

Honestly, the only thing wrong I can find here at the NPF is sometimes, not often, but sometimes, people get hot-headed over trivial issues, but then again, what place is perfect?

The only other forum I can stand to be in is the RPGClassics forum, (recently became a forumer there.) and everywhere else, is dreck. Allow me to demostrate with a forum comparison using the same topic.

Here at the NPF . . .

Oh yeah. It's defentally the Mods that help, but also the regular forumites that help the mods do their job, taking care of the more mundane jobs such as reminding them about the rules, and reporting the more severe posts.

NPF has been the only forum that has been able to hold my interest for any length of time, ever. Though my postings on it are few and far between, I've enjoyed my time here. The intelligent discourse, the (enforced) literacy rate, and the friendly(ish) people are fantastic. In fact, I've avoided stuff like Myspace for the same reasons I've stayed here. Anywhere else on the Interwub simply has too high a concentration of unadulterated retard to be worth my time.

I gotta say, this place is tied for first place with my other favorite forum, BUT for entirely different reasons. NPF has a way better color scheme, NPF actually has a decent roleplaying section, NPF is actually based around a FUNNY comic, and of course, NPF lets me back in when I've been a bad, bad boy.

I'm ever so glad to have found this forum, long long ago, for this is the first forum I ever joined and I've yet to find a reason to go anywhere else (unless i get something cool from membership, like free Anime downloads.)

As for the Mods, I've yet to bump heads with any of them do to a time honored and age old practice of not sticking my head out and hiding behind the taller people.

That being said, this is one of the better forums in which I have participated. The population may be mostly young people, but these are young people who tend to use the brains they've been given. It is indeed a joy to behold.

And the mods, the mods...the mods do a pretty fantastic job, in my opinion. Being in charge of a forum isn't an easy, and it's even tougher when one has to moderate thousands of people with differing opinions, attitudes, and beliefs.

You know, it's kinda funny... I was reading this thread, and I thought, hey, wasn't FifthFiend always a mod? And then I remembered reading a thread of surprise at his appointment to the position... Yeah, I haven't been around for too long, but NPF is definately one of my top 2 favourite forums. The other one is a favourite because I have a bunch of friends there, it has a bunch of webcomics... and it's a really small group. About 10 people who ever post. Which is why I try to plug it as often as possible! ;) (note: look at my sig)

I joined NPF almost on a whim, and I'm glad I did. I've never felt unwelcome here, and I've always liked how the majority of those who post frequently do so in an intelligible and LEGIBLE manner. It's as though almost the entire internet population is illiterate, and the rest are members of NPF.

I stumbled upon this forum since I really had nothing to do. I recently started to understand Photoshop in the manne rof CG coloring. This forum really got me to improve on my art skills since where I live, there's noone who can properly crituqe my drawings, unlike on this forum.

Also, I actually found a place that I can post my stuff in. I've found less and less time to get on here (I don't even have over 100 posts yet..). Actually, only recently, my computer just recently got fucked and that sucks.

Another thing is, is the fact that this place uses proper grammar and punctuation. You know, the usual "this place has smart people" kinda things.

Anyway. Let's get this thread back on topic. NPF is generally a well-structured forum, where everyone gets fair treatment whether they're longtime, regular posters, new, once-a-month posters, or anything in between. I know quite a few forums where it's either become a dictatorship or... umm... anti-dictatorship. You know, where the n00bs flood the forums, chasing off newbs and striking fear into the hearts of the veterans. I'm glad to say that at NPF, trolls are dealt with, newbs are treated with patience and kindness, vets are fine examples of forum members and mods give justice where it is needed.

I've been an admin on several forums for hardware, gaming, competitive gaming leagues, and the like.

There is a fine line between over moderation, and under moderation. Either done in copious amounts is childish and counter productive. However by in large if you have a group of people that share the same interests the community self moderates.

I haven't been around here long enough to judge, so I won't.

That said both sides have some good points. A lot of great forums moderate well, yet have a "have at it" section, and they can jail people to said region if they get out of hand. I guess it's a solution from temp bans.

In the end it's not about rules, mods, it's just about the people. If somebody doesn't fit in they don't last long, if the community is a good one.
