We all know that pie is great, but what, in your opinion, is the greatest type?

Freshly baked Apple Pie.
And if I cannot get that, I love me some pumpkin pie.

Lemon merengue.
Failing that, some sort of stacked chocolate deal.
Then apple.

Beef and Onion Pie or Curry Pie.
Desert: Key Lime

I bow to your wisdom, greed. Key lime IS the top pie.
After that one, tortière, which is a pork and beef number that`s ususally open topped, and served in the dead of winter.
I`m hungry now. (smiles)
edit:
I like more onion and actual root veggies in it, but hey! Here goes:
---------- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.04
Title: Tortiere
Categories: Main dish, Meats
Yield: 1 Servings
1/2 lb Lean ground beef
1/2 lb Ground pork
1 Onion, chopped
1 Clove, garlic
1/2 ts Salt
1/2 ts Savory or thyme
1/4 ts Celery salt
1/4 ts Ground cloves
1/2 c Water
In a pot mix together 1/2 lb each lean ground beef and
1/2 lb ground pork and all other ingredients and bring
to a boil. Turn down to simmer for 20 minutes. Add
1/2 cup breadcrumbs spoon by spoon until the fat is
absorbed. Cool mixture. Pour into uncooked pie shell.
Add the top crust. Cook 25 minutes in a preheated 450F
oven. Source: The Canadian Heritage Cookbook.ch
Also, this recipe asks for uncooked pie crust: bah. Cook the dang thing first, and it comes out better. :)
gotta recipe for the beef-beer stew there? Sounds YUMMI!

Tortière.
Never heard of that one, sounds good though.
My favourite dinner pie is Beef in Beer (Chunks of beef marinated in beer served in a gravy with beer, potato and bacon in it, all in a big puffy pastry, it's an Australian-Irish dish funnily enough...), the beer used is generally Guiness as well....
Great in winter.

Custard Pie is the best pie ever my friends. All the goodness of a Custard dougnaut, but in pie form.
Following the very closly is of course Key Lime Pie. Which is also pretty easy to make as long as your smart enough to buy Keylime juice rather than squeeze out all the Key Lime's your self.
Khael!

Quiche. It's just so darned good.
Dessert? Cherry pie. But not storebought! Storebought reeks of cough syrup memories and angers me greatly. It must be home made.

Cherry pie.
Old standard, still kicks ass!
ZERO.

I like pecan pie.
It's good stuff.

Steak and Kidney from my local Fish'n'Chip shop as a dinner pie.
Lemon Mergaing for dessert.
(and a pizza pie for breakfast!)

I hate making favorites, but I guess I'll go with salal berry pie if only because I haven't yet met another person who's tried a good one.
I also like green tomato pie. And pecan. I hate storebought pies.

As long as there is pecan pie in this world, I will never have need of this silly "romantic love" you people keep prattling about. All is already good and right in the world.

All you apple pie peoples are just a tad off. It's Dutch Apple Pie, with its fantastically amazing crumb-caramel crust that is the true King of Deliciousness. Of course, the only acceptable way to eat it is piping hot and a la mode.

(1) My mother's apple pie.
(2) My mother's chicken/beef pot pie.
Oh, you think I'm just being sentimental, don't you? I'm not. She pwns in the kitchen. That storebought crap can crawl right on back to the pit of Hell it came from.

How could you compare any of these other pies to pumpkin, pecan, and chocolate cream pies? They are the Holy Trinity of pies for Gods sake!

Hmmm. for me I think it would have to be warm cherry pie or warm pumpkin pie. Both are so good! Rhubarb pie is good too.

Who the hell makes pie out of nuts? I mean honestly? I mean why stop there, when you could make yourself a delicious cake, out of chalk? Or maybe some cookies, made out of cat food?
Cherry is the pinnacle of pie fillings and anyone who says otherwise is a liar or a madman. Hell, probably both.

I'm neither, and I say black raspberry is the best! Cherry, blueberry, lemon, peach, blackberry, apple, and chocolate all tie for second place in my list of favorites.

...I'm gonna forgive you saying that on account of you've never had my mother's apple pie. I mean, you don't know any better, so you're bound to say something like that, aren't you? :p It's a joke, a joke! Just don't ban meeeeee!

I like pie in all it's forms, and I don't think I could proclaim one as an all time favorite. I get cravings for different flavors at different times. Some of the ones I really like, though, are:
Strawberry Rhubarb Custard
French Apple Cream Cheese
Banana Cream Merangue

It's less the pecan and more the nuget. And the pecans are like, buttered or some such, making them not taste like pecans, but more like sugary crunchy kind of buttery nuget pie.
Which I really enjoy too.
Also, chalk isn't edible, you crazy you. I'm gonna go with Pumpkin too. Come on! Pumpkin! Pumpkin WITH genetically altered pecans, I guess.
Mmm, genetically altered pecans.

Also, they're held together with syrup. Come on, man. It's like a pancake without the pancake!

They found a way don't ask how, I don't know but it's good.
To put it in another form, I have seen the top of the mountain and it is good....

Apple Pie.... Key Lime pie...
Strawberry pie actually isn't that good.
But, yeah. Apple Pie is GOD! Or the equivilant thereof for all religions. Damn fine food.
Edit: And since FF seems to be reading this topic. Turn my avatar back.
Why don't I do it myself? I'm really lazy.
