Runescape has messed up my computer twice, and I shall never play it again! EVER!
That and I can't for the life of me remember what my sign in was.

From my experience with the game, I've gathered that it would be much more logical to call it MineScape.

Ahhh Runescape, how i wasted my life.... PLAYING BLOODY RUNESCAPE!!!
Never again! It's even more tedious than WoW, if that's at all possible. My advice to any and all who ever view this page:
Stay away from Runescape. It will ruin you. Seriously.

NO it isn't, it really isn't. It makes you bored. Doing the same tasks over and over and over and over and over and over and over again, and whoo-hoo i went up to level 15 in strength, but now i have to do all that again to go up another level, only this time I need to do it for even longer!! And don't even get me started on fishing!! Sitting there for ages as your inventory slowly fills up, before walking all the way over to the bank, then coming all the way back to do it again. Repeat 20 times to go up a level and repeat yet again. That's why I gave up.

I tend to find things to do that aren't so repetitive, probably why I suck so much level wise and I'm always broke.
I know that some people LIKE repetitiveness, thuogh.

Lol Sig'd, because that's the only way people will learn.

I'd explain why it's absolutely inviable to attempt to play it seriously without being a paying customer (at least, I found it to be, in my attempts to be a mage), but that requires far more explanation than I care to write and others care to read.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but was this post not created for people who played runescape? I know I'm not a mod and I know I don't have jurisdiction over this but if all of you people are flaming runescape, how are real players going to post without takeing on at least part of the flames? I also didn't play so I can't count myself as the number that do but I have tried it and although I did find it boring, I am not saying "Everytime someone plays runescape, I kill a kitten". Thats just plain rude and its not very nice to jagex or all the people who play to say something like that.

The guy stated in his first post that he wanted people to post if they've played Runescape, and I'm pretty sure we've all played runescape.
And why would you play runescape when you could play...I dunno....RAIRO?
Or all those other free MMORPG's that are much better?

I really don't see why even the very mention of Runescape throws people into a blind rage... And I have a level 93 (formerly) Member character with no non-combat skill under 50 (Except Construction), so I know what I'm talking about.
Anyway, there have been other threads for this... like here, sorta. (http://forum.nuklearpower.com/showthread.php?t=8512&highlight=Runescape) But since that's an old one, this is fine, assuming the spam posts are cut out or something.
For my own part, I used to play Runescape. Now, I'm just somewhat bored of it. I accomplished all my goals in it, and most of the friends I made on there went AWOL. Earning my place in Valhalla without selling my soul, so to speak. But, should I decide to go back on there for a bit of nostalgia or something, my SN is (was?) Brenden_Reed.
Because on-topickness is good.

I played RuneScape for a time, until I got hooked by KKRO. Though I did enjoy it for awhile, eventually I got bored of the aforementioned tedium. I will say, however, that there is untapped potential in RS that could make it a kickass game if Jagex is willing.
To all of you whining about how much RS sucks, to you I say in typical RS fashion: "GTFO n00b! D:<"

I did play runescape, didn't get into it. All the servers are over-crowded [HOW!?], the graphics were a bit choppy, and the battle system looked so stupid. I mean, sure I play games that show only the number rising off the person with no movement for damage and fighting, but the game I play like that is designed to be like that, for download time reasons. lets the dail-up users on.
Anyways, point is, I lost all interst in Runescape as soon as I knew it existed. Playing it just prooved my theory.

Yeah, it seems to me like runescape needs to overhaul the combat system. Even if it needs to be in a browser, it couldn't hurt to have a little player input once in a blue moon.
Otherwise, my Kirkus23 is still around, so add me if you want, although the only time I'll be on is when I'm MSNing, because I can play it without any mental investment on my part.

I used to play runescape and still do once in a while. It gets boring. I think I was level 50. Mostly a waste of time though it had its moments. I mostly played it because some of my friends did. I was a member for about a year, which was a lot better. I have a personal grudge against runescape, however, for single-handedly mauling one of my best friends' spelling and punctuation. He is no longer capable of capitilization.
Edit: Yes, I know I didn't capitalize runescape, that was intentional. Sure, nobody cares, but I always try to have perfect grammar to make up for my handwriting. I guess it's just a habit.

I used to play Runescape about 2 years ago but I got mega-ultra bored. I tried to get back into it recently for some unholy reason but when I got called a n00b for not buying a chicken for 10k, I closed the web browser.
If you want a game that can be played without a monthly subscription (c'mon, admit it, that's why you play RS right?) then I suggest you go out and get Guild Wars: Prophesies.
And before anyone says "omgz, j00 n00b, gild w0rz iz teh gei game, WoW is way bettah!", I'll have you all know that I've got WoW right next to me and recently uninstalled it as it all seems pretty familiar. (Alchemy = Herblore?)
On closing on this rant, I think that Runescape should be re-named Noobscape and that all players 'characters' should be affectionatly known as 'noobs' so that maybe the community will pick up a bit.
("omgz, j00 noob!!"
"Yep, that's right"
"NO U! -logout-")

Not only does Runescape suck, but they charge you money for an increased range of suckitude!
Also, everyone on that game is a dick. First time I played, I'm like "dum dee dum-AUGH! FUCK! GIANT GOLEM CRUSHING MY FACE!" *hack, slash, stab* Whew...uh...anyone got some spare food? I don't want to get killed by a rat on my way out"
"fuk u nub go dye"
"........." *logs out* *deletes program*

I do agree that IE sucks compaired to Firefox, but some things require this stupid download that only IE can perform <.<
Anyways, still think Runescape needs improvement

Denivire, That's why you go to the Firefox extensions page and get an IE plugin thing. Then you can switch between Firefox browsing and IE browsing at the click of a little symbol...
Ah, the plugin is here (https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/1419/). Have fun.
And so as to not be completely off topic, I hate Runescape. I tried to get into it long ago, but it was the suck.
Peer pressure started me, just as peer pressure starts other habits of suck.
I mean, everyone at my school plays it. So much so that they had to proxy the website. it's pretty horrible.

After playing higher-end MMORPGs such as Earth and Beyond, EVE Online, and World of Warcraft, I never went back to runescape. I mean, it couldnt hold a candle to a trip through 0.0 space that your faction is at war with (also know as a fight for survival), or starting your own raiding guild from scratch and making weekly ragnaros attempts, as you lead the raid!

If you want a free 3-D MMORPG, I'd recommend FlyFF. It's chibi-styled, simple and up beat, but at least it's not totally ugly. Plus you get hover boards.
But who am I kidding? If you've got the time/DSL to download FlyFF, you're probably already running RO.

I really don't see why even the very mention of Runescape throws people into a blind rage.In my high school, Runescapers place undue lag on the servers. This lags up the entire network at times when we critically need the... is bandwidth the right term? Probably not. But anyway, I find it highly irritating when these people slow down the computer lab with a game that's a time-waster at best. Especially when I have a paper due, or I just have to print it out or something.

Ya, I had that prolem before at my highschool, the administrators finally caught it and blocked it (along with some other good sites, the bastards). I won't say it was game websites, it was more funny videos that I now use YouTube to watch.
Denivire, That's why you go to the Firefox extensions page and get an IE plugin thing.
I was aware of that, and used it on some other computer before, it's just that I don't feel the need to download Firefox, and tere's the fact that if left open for too long it takes up one hel of a chunk of your RAM <.<
