Just curious... anyone else out there a big Hellsing fan? If you've never seen it or read the manga, I would strongly suggest it... Alucard is one of the collest characters ever...

I haven't read the manga although I saw the Anime and I also saw the...I think either first part or first two parts to that OVA thing(It was the OVA section that covered up until mister stabby mc-holy knight shows up and makes with stabbing).
I prefer the OVA version, as "police girl" is cooler in it.

Yeah, I liked it, but they ended it too suddenly, of course. Must've run out of juice or money or fan interest. Alucard is freaking insane.

I've owned the DVD's for a while! It was an amazing anime, and the new redux sounds nice too.

Oh man, the anime was decent but the OVA was great.
Too bad the ending was too much of a cliffhanger...

Just curious, really. I picked the episodes up offline and I've been curious as to how popular they were. Guess I also just wanted someone to confirm my belief that they're awesome:). Yeah, I agree that the plot isn't implemented well, but really, that's not why I watch it... I like the characters way too much to care, heh. Walter FTW!!!

Hellsing was awesome. I was a little dissapointed by the fact that it was so short, but I guess not every anime can be as long as Bleach. I am glad they decided to end it, rather tha throw up a bunch of half-formed unenthusiastic episodes that would have ruined the series. "Alucard is... Your Father! Duh duh duuuuuuuuuh!"

Well they throw in a bunch of shitty endings for animes cause they go past the manga, but Hellsing's series was wayyy behind...
They totally shoulda continued... :(

Yeah, they should have... but maybe they can just start a new series, eh? Same characters and basic concept, but with a new storyline... a loooooong storyline...

...Actually, that's EXACTLY what they're doing with the Hellsing Ultimate OAV. They've rebooted the whole series, and restarted the entire thing with a story that follows the manga more closely. They've already released two episodes so far, which cover all the way up to the invasion of the mansion by the Valentines

I LOVE the Manga over the anime personally, but either way you look at it, it's pure kickass in a bottle.

Look up the Hellsing OVA series on Youtube (now owned by google wtf?!) it's a badass new rendition of the series that follows the storyline of the manga. the animation is better and the story is much more solid. None of that Incognito crap that makes no sense whatsoever >.>

There is a rule on double posting; it's probably the most broken. Well, it's up there with flaming anyway. There IS an edit button in the bottom right of your post. NEVER DOUBLE POST. Always edit your posts. Also: Triple post = twice as bad as a double post. I know the math doesn't make sense, but go with it. =D
Being semi-owner-of-a-place-like makes me feel awesome. O_o

Rhombus, while you said you accept the rules, maybe you should read over them again. Especially the part about double posting.

I really found myself disliking the anime after I read the manga, there were too many changes even at the start of the series between the two for me to connect them well. Still though I really enjoy the series and can't wait till more chapters come out.

I dunno, I've never been bothered by discrepancies between animes and their respective mangas. I've always just kind of taken them as seperate entities, and gone from there with it. Not like they're FF7 plotlines or anything...

Yes, you kind've have to accept the differences, especially if they're as wildly divergent as some (like FMA, for example). Still, I think Hellsing must've stopped far too early. You find out Alucard is actually Dracula (so hard to figure out, what with them using the completely original idea of making the characters name Dracula backwards. :D), the Egyptian vampire with the auto-shotgun is impaled, and then it ends. What happened to the scary Catholic priest with the knives? The police girl? Everyone else? Obviously it wasn't a real ending, they just didn't make the next "season" (what in anime is called arcs, I believe) at all. Probably lack of interest by viewers in Japan or something.
So I'm definitely behind the OVA thing. I'll have to watch it if it is awesome.

This is hilarious. I actually went on this part of the forum thinking, "Huh, wonder if there's a Hellsing thread?" and it only took me two seconds of scrolling to find it.
I'm not really an animu afficianado, and the only shows I've ever really "got into" are Bleach, Trigun and Hellsing, but Hellsing is by far my favorite. I watched the full series of the anime, and then the OVAs after I heard about them. I liked both, but the OVA far outstrips the anime in terms of visual quality and action. Plus gore. Lots more gore.

About half of Hellsing is fillers. It takes the manga-ka about a year to pump out a volume. However Unlimited is well its already been said, I will just say I want it. Only thing I dont like about Alucard is that he is too strong. In fact when he goes all out its so one-sided its no fun to watch.
Oh and the omake in the manga are some of the best ever. And I love how he appologizes at the end of each one for how horrible the book was. Confidence isn't exactly his thing. Also the Valentine brothers are right, police girls boobs do keep getting bigger and bigger (if you look at the begining she is actually kinda flat). Maybe if she drinks too much they will pop
