Yeah, so apparently there's a new Giant Robo (http://gr-anime.com/index.html) Anime being made. Only it has no Ginrei, no Tetsugyu, no Experts of Justice, no Forglor, No Big Fire, No train robo, No watch, No orb, and no Shizuma drives. And Giant Robo was made by ancient shamans or something and Daisaku's hit puberty and not wearing shorts.
My response:WHY!?:(
What are your thoughts on this?

It looks pretty lousy. I saw the Giant Robo anime a long time ago (on Sputnik7.com, when they had anime and stuff). It was some of the very little anime that's not only worth paying attention to but is actually GOOD. And it was incredibly good, definitely a masterpiece, especially because it wasn't too politically correct, and it wasn't sanitized or kiddified (other than that there seemed to be an alternate anime in which that bearded dude with the glasses and the guy with the fan were gay lovers, and it seems that they cut this from the main thing, but I never saw that version, I only read of it). The music was incredible all around and all over. The part where Paris was being destroyed by that giant evil robot eye thing had an especially good operatic thing going on, as did the part where one or two of the bad guys runs into Big Fire (the actual guy named Big Fire) himself. Plus, I like how all the characters have such original powers that aren't ripped off from Dragon Ball (which I hold a passionate contempt for, since like most anime all it's doing is severely clogging up western culture like a really huge turd stuck in the pipes of one of those really old toilets from the 1920s) or American superheroes and supervillains. The explanation is cool; they get their powers from ESP, but without the stupid telepathic/psychic/psionic stuff that Marvel has such an obsession with. The voice acting was good, the writing, plot, etc was fantastic, and the action was incredible, especially the parts with Giant Robo himself, like when he blew up that island and later when he finally blew up the Eye of Folger (I just remembered what it was called) with like 300 missiles at once and then fired one of the giant missiles on his back that make up his rocket backpack. It seems like a shame that they're going to ruin sch a good cartoon with this steaming load.

Because I believe it's most likely based on the original Giant Robo manga, which featured none of that stuff. The only elements in the OAV which came from the manga were Daisaku and Giant Robo himself. Everything else (including almost all of the cast), were borrowed from other manga which the original author wrote (Ginrei was from Wolf Constellation, Tetsuguyu, Taiso, Yoshi, Go and lots of others were from the Water Margin. Genya was from the Seven Shadows of Kagemaru, Murasame was from Gigantor/Tetsujin 28, etc.). Other things like the Shizuma Drives were made for the OAV itself, and the story of the OAV itself is a large homage to Wagner Ring of Niebelung opera. Also, this new TV series is being made to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the MANGA.
Oh, and Monstructer, nice wall of text and rush to judgment. A single image hasn't even been released and you're already calling it a "steaming load" :rolls eyes:
