So is any sort of LARP, really... Amtgard, SCA, Daggorhir... you should check to see if any of them are in your area, they tend to meet once or twice a week, and it really works well for stress relief. :p

I'll also note that those are only three of the many different LARPs out there. Those are just the three that I can recall off the top of my head. ^^;

So.... general stuff about me: I'm obviously your typical sci-fi/fantasy nerd. I DM an ongoing Dungeons & Dragons campaign and I have an unhealthy infatuation with comic books (I grew up with the X-Men but in recent years I've branched out, even as far as the Distinguished Competition.) I own the entirety Cowboy Bebop, Trigun and both seasons of Big O on DVD and I'm working on getting all of Samurai Champloo. I regularly watch Adult Swim, my favorite shows being The Boondocks, Aqua Teen Hunger Force and Full Metal Alchemist. I enjoy Naruto and One Piece manga (but I'm only up to vol. 8 cuz I buy them regularly like a sucker), and I read all of Bleach though I didn't like it as much....

Weirdly enough, I don't actually like video games all that much. I've got a few on my computer (just the ubiquitous Blizzard RTS/RPGs), but I don't play those regularly and I've never once owned any kind of console. (I guess that begs the question what I'm doing HERE, but 8-Bit owns even if you've never played FFI, I think.)

Beyond general nerd-dom, my favorite subjects are History and English. I've studied a lot of historical eras independantly. I wouldn't call myself an expert on anything, but I could at least have a conversation with someone who was knowledgeable in classical, medieval or imperial era history. I try to keep myself reading at least one work of "fine" literature at any given time, and my favorite authors are Franz Kafka and Fyodor Dostoevsky.

A friend of mine told me about 8-bit about three months ago, when I was scribbling down some plot events i wanted to put in my book because the teacher left the classroom during the test we were taking. I'm currently a biology student in my third undergraduate year (which will end in a month or so, actually). I have had a focus on Genetics, but at the moment I need to re-evaluate my focus because, simply put taking all of these other bio courses has made me wonder what I actually want to do.

I suppose I'm really one of your run-of-the-mill geek/nerds. I have a great interest in computers, gaming, television, and science. I have moderate interest in math, space opera, and fantasy.
