Sarda's got a bit of an attitude in this one.

Well, more than usual.

Wow...
Sarda IS really demanding for those Orbs...
I'm starting to suspect Sarda BIG TIME here.
And why is he rushing to get the orbs?

Also, anyone notice that Sarda only intervenes when he can screw the lightwarriors over? BM's about to score and do something good for a change (if for the wrong reasons. Like Kain.) and then Sarda immediately poofs them at him.

It's almost as if he's trying to keep the only competent light warrior away from the nincompoops...Probably because he hates her, but he doesn't have to be such a prick about it.

Oh what am I saying, the man is the only person who is possibly more evil or mean spirited than BM!

Sarda, I HATE YOU!

the universe exists to hurt black mage. sarda is, in a sense, second in command of the universe. the first lady doesn't like BM very much, either.

Sarda's got a bit of an attitude...

Yeah, I'd be cranky too if my opportunity to create a universe was totally screwed over. Spending 14,000,000,000 years floating around in space without a deck of cards (http://www.nuklearpower.com/daily.php?date=050526) wouldn't help either.

Lunch, huh? I'm so drawing that later.
This seemed to be gettin' kinda technical... surprised Thief didn't intervene and lawsuit everybody to, like, death or something... I dunno.

Sarda is supposedly omnipotent. Why would he need the 4 Orbs? Something's not right about this! >_>

Which begs the question -- why isn't Sarda collecting the orbs? He's bound to be powerful enough to do it, and he obviously dislikes/hates the light warriors.

Why should he go after them when he could have someone else do all the work? ;)

Well, the several-hundred-billion-year wait, combined with having to put up with the Light Warriors....you'd run out of tact yourself.

No, no. He's *not quite* omnipotent, thanks to WM.

P.S. I assume RM failed his Will check?

Well, it doesn't look like Sarda ever really intended (http://www.nuklearpower.com/daily.php?date=040603) on making the light warriors quest (http://www.nuklearpower.com/daily.php?date=040605) for the orbs at all.

"You aren't ready. That much is clear to me now... You know what you boys need? S'more questing."

Regarding today's episode, I thought it was a fantastic bit of writing. I love Sarda.

Wind Orb.

Something just hit me. If there was a Heart Orb, Sarda could summon Captain Planet!

We're the Planeteers!
You can be one too!
Cause saving our planet is the thing to do!
Looting and Polluting
is not the way!
Here's what Captain Planet
has to say!
The Power is Yours!

EDIT: Maybe
Fighter = Wheeler
Black Mage = Kwame
Red Mage = Linka
Theif = Gi
White Mage = Ma-Ti

Just when I'd suppressed all my Captain Planet-related memories...Thanks. Thanks bunches.

Am I the only one who noticed ever-so-slight parallels to some Looney Tunes cartoons in that dialogue? The words might be different, but I think the logic remained the same:
"Duck season."
"Wabbit season."
"Duck season!"
"Wabbit season!"
"Wabbit season!"
"Duck season! Fire!"

No, I think the better analogy is from Cape Feare:

Marge: You awful man! Stay away from my son.
Bob: Oh, I'll stay away from your son, all right. [evilly] Stay away...forever!
Homer: [quaking] No!
Bob: Wait a minute, that's no good.
[Starts to walk away, then runs back]
Wait! I've got a good one now. Marge, say, "Stay away from my son," again.
Marge: [angrily] No!
Bob: [groaning] Oh...

He didn't fail his will save. Sarda is an Omnipotent jackass. Why wouldn't Rm be a bit of a suckup around the guy? It's better than horking up your organs.

Mmm... sammiches.

Ah, Simpson quotes. Is there anything the internet can't do? And yeah, the Looney Toons reverse psychology thing. Why not?

I wish all RPGs did errand-running quests like that. It's always...

"plz find my littl girl" "okays"
*solve maze, switch puzzles, push-block puzzles*
*endless random encounters the whole way through*
"og noez the mayors daughter wuz CAPTURD by th3 bandits, i must rport this!"
*gotta go back now*
"hay! they totally gotted her!"
"who?"
"de BANDATS!"
"og noes!"
"yeah i know!"
"kay go save her."
"....WTF I WAS RIGHT THUR i coulda done that before!"
"you want gpz or noT?"
*here we go again*
"i am in joor base! i am killing your mans~!" (MacHall ref)
"gasp, supa bandit boss guy fight!"
*epic combat*
"kay dauhgtr person, home tiem now plees"
*one more damn time*
"i have goten her! w00t for me!"
*warm reuniting*
"fregplz"
"yesh yesh, your reward is waiting for you in bandit camp"
"..."
"..."

...and they didn't live happily ever after. The whole town's population was later discovered dead, with their eyes gouged out. To this day, the mystery remains a complete fog, except for one hint: a guard's body was found with a knife next to a bloody "Welcome to Corneria" carved into the side of a building.

Hmm. The story of BM, mebbe. Is it can be sammich teim now plees?

Yay, BM's about to learn a new spell.

Maybe Sarda'll spite him by actually having BM learn it properly and not telling him until after its useful.

BM has probably learnt how to (re)swallow his organs reasonably quickly by now. (A pretty useful skill in his case :D )

I think BM doesn't care what Sarda does anymore. Doesn't BM want to find a way to die anyway? When he does, he can become the King of Hell again. :)

Harmless

I think he mighta moved on from wanting to become Hell King again... Anyway he would have to remove the spines of Kary, Lich and Kraken....

That would make sense. It would explain why he tried to create the universe for one thing.

Well, anyways they get you the Orbs still. Plus they knock off a Fiend every time they do so.

So now it's a race: Who will destroy the world first? LWs or Chaos?
