I might start reading Squidi again. I liked his comic alot, but during his stupid "War of Fate" storyline it all turned into a drama, and honestly, you can't turn a comedy into a drama like THAT.

Besides; he stopped being funny around then too.

Seconded. It's possible to turn a humor comic into a drama, but the way Squidi did it, he should have just started a new comic with new characters.

It's this comic entry (http://www.squidi.net/comic/zomb/view.php?ep=1&id=3) that made me chuckle. Every comic should have at least ONE yoda quote, even if yoda hasn't been read about before (EG: On Gaia in 8-bit psycho land.)

Nah. He's kinda like the ADD kid of webcomics. He'll take one idea, see it half-way through, find something else, wrap the first idea up and move on. I like his comics, but I can't stand reading like that. It's like trying to read a book three or four pages at a time.

I am so done with squidi's style of dialog. Maybe I'm all doped up on Brian's irreverant quick-draw banter and also idiot-talk in 8BT, but the dialog of ZotLD, and anything after AMD basically, was too predictable, and the humour is just too cliche... I mean, if you're entering a dramatic moment, be dramatic. Don't sully it with an attempt at being funny. Or, at the very least, give us the pun at the end of the comic where it fits. Bottem line - He just isn't that good of a writer. Not clever, not funny.

I mean, for a guy with a history of beliving he's got the most brilliant thing to hit the internet IF ONLY WE'D UNDERSTAND, he's got a lot lacking. I would read squidi for the art and the art alone. I will concede that he had very good concepts, but his attention span and talent in general just don't allow him, it seems to me, to fit the webcomic world as both artist and writer. (Esspecially becuase you face a limit in visual expressiveness when working in pixel art, you need good writing)

Also he is kind of a jerk and I once threw a fit at him, so it's easy for me to be critical of him?

It creates this weird desensitized attraction to these things, almost like cotton candy child porn. It's attractive, but shouldn't be. You should be feeling sick, but instead you are swept away by it.

Please rest assured that the context is fairly innocent, but Holy-Bad-Analogy, Batman! Could he have picked a worse gross thing?

EDIT II: I keep finding really good reasons to not change my opinion of squidi for the better.

I'm being serious here, I want to know what the hell it is. The only things I'm coming up with are children having sex on cotton candy, children having sex with cotton candy, cotton candy molded to look like children having sex, or some giant, naked fat man slowly eating naked children like cotton candy.

Those can't be right, though, because I'm not getting swept away on a river of hot, loving love yet or whatever Squidi was talking about.

See, originally Squidi could chock full a comic with really good punchlines, and I had to respect him for it. One of my all time favorite moments is in the very early comics where Maxim says, "It could have been my evil twin!" Then his grandkids say, "Wow, you had an evil twin?" And he says, "Damn right I did! And I did it back before it was the trendy thing to do!"

That was fucking witty, and lately none of that has come out of Squidi.

...that was a terrible rhyme.
