Whos a fan of these guys (they did Disgaea, best SRPG of this gen) and who hates them?

I played both Disgaea and La Pucelle and enjoyed both for the most part, both the style and the gameplay. My only complaint would be not getting xp for taking normal actions or doing damage/ healing (as in FF tactics) but only for landing the killing blow. Made it really hard to level up certain classes.

I've only played Phantom Brave. It's okay I suppose, but so slow and difficult to get into. Thankfully I have patience.

I also played Phantom Brave however unlike Mudah I have no patience and couldn't figure for the life of me what in the goddamn hell I was supposed to do.

PB is nowhere near as good as Disgaea. PB is pretty boring. Disgaea: Hour of Darkness is awesomelicious, but a bitch and-a-half to find.

I really like Disgaea 2(never played 1) but I can only play a couple levels a week.( actuall I havnt played in a month, and Im on like the 5th chapter)
I totally agree that the EXP system is messed up.
HEALERS SHOULD LVL UP FROM HEALING NOT KILLING! Gah!

Oh and as for the question raised by the original post, NIS Rocks!!!

I'm a huge Nippon Ichi fan, but specifically Atelier Iris. It's a turn based traditional RPG, uses sprite graphics, and is one of the few games I've ever bothered to get 100% completion on. The dialogue is also usually great, with very funny and quirky characters (except PB, but we'll ignore that).

Actually Healers do get xp from healing, it is easy to not notice this if your healer only heals once in a while. I have a healer who has kept up pace with my usual group of characters simply because she's been healing them the moment they get hurt. On regular fights that is, boss fights/difficult matches she's well guarded.

They're reselling the first Disgaea, and for only 30 dollars. If I didn't already own the game, I would curse my complete lack of $30. But I own it, so rawk.

Anyway, Nippon Ichi is probably one of my favorite game companies. Damn the PSP, though.

I've spent 300+ hours on Disgaea 2.

That alone would be enough to classify me as insane except I am going for level 9999 on adell. Just hit 7843.

2156 more to go.

Le sigh...

thanks, that works as quite an example to me for what a HARDCORE gamer really is....
and i thought staying up to 4am on a game was just enough!

i have PB and decided that i could only spend so much time on one game... so i bought a strat guide and figured out the massive world of upgrading one can do

so i must wonder, is Disgaea similar in its infinitesimal growth and even titling system?

Disgaae is similar in gameplay, but way more replay value, due to multiple endings and new game+

Repetative as all hell...

La Pucelle has some of the best sprite work I have ever seen however and is 100% what I like in style and art design. And Prier is just hot!

But yeah, the 'games'.....wow. Same thing over and over and over again, just with different moves.
