Y'know. Not Akbar is a lot like regular Akbar.

Poor Red Mage... then again his rolling has saved him before so it might not turn out all bad... right?

Umm, the fake store front falls down.

Classic!! Classic, I say!!

I don't know if anyone else does it, but I like to play this little game every week where I read the comic, and then try to guess which line Brian is going to use to title the thread topic. I'm right roughly a third of the time.

Upon re-reading this post, I can't seem to remember what point I was trying to get at, if indeed I started with one at all.

Is it just me or is Red Mage starting to become more like Fighter? -_-

So is Fighter becoming smarter and is everyone else is getting dumber?

Demetrius
12-07-2006, 03:23 AM
Or Fighter is rubbing off on everyone else...

Either way I'm not seeing Theif being happy about his money (he owns it all by contract) being stolen, Theif chase!!

Not Akbar just made a fatal mistake. If Black Mage doesn't kill him, Thief will. Still funny though.

Akabar is nicer then Not Akabar, Akabar at least gives something in return.

Perhaps Not Akabar is Akabar's evil twin, who refuses to even hand over any fake merchandise?

Not Ackbar is too far away for BM (if he missed a volcano he won't come close to Not Ackbar), but Thief might get his revenge if not on Not Ackbar then on RM.

I don't think Red Mage is dumb exactly, just easy to manipulate if you know which buttons to push.

Now Fighter, I mean, that guy's just dumb.

You know it's times like this when i wonder why they let RM conduct any business. Expecially business that involves money.

Anyway i think it's safe to assume that RM is about to get one hell of a ninja kick.

Intellectual osmosis. Where is Fighter, by the way?

Also, I've been trying to figure out BM's intellegence for a while now. I think he has some, but is too self absorbed to use it effectively.

I actually figured Thief already relieved him of everything he owned as he ran past, while he was distracted with his tears or joy.

If he didn't it's going to be a toss up of Thief/Black Mage committing horrible atrocious agony on Akbar (not likely) or Red Mage.

The chances are T/BM'll commit said agony anyway, out of principle or for fun respectively.

I've been trying to figure out BM's intellegence for a while now.
Black Mage is as smart as he needs to be to best suffer in any given moment. Thus, he's smart enough to know that he is being swindled due to the incompetence of his comrades. But he's not smart enough to look at his new clothes before bragging about how awesome he looks.

Also worth noting, he's never quite smart or swift enough to actually prevent the aforementioned comrades from being swindled.

Would it be correct to say that Black Mage's mind, like everything else in the universe, works toward the deliberate purpose of making BM suffer?

I think that we need to consider the possibility that Black Mage is a subconcious masochist. Maybe losing his position as lord of hell finally sent him off the proverbial edge.

Or maybe he just has a glorious lack of common sense. Either way.

Thief vs. Akbar

EDIT: OH SNAP! What if the wall falling was a transporter method, and Not Akbar, though he charged them all they had, was actually able to get them to where they want to be (Also farther away from him)

I don't know. I think that BM just doesn't care anymore. He knows someone out there is fucking with him so he just doesn't care about anything bad happening to him since it is unavoidable.

Idiots, Fighter and RM. Thief may have more (if not much more). But Thief (hopefully) will have enough experience (if not intelligence) of conning to notice that RM has let someone run off with HIS money! (BM might just be a observer as revenge for the kick)

Red mage is propably a sorcerer, since it would be lame for him to pick Wizard, as it would lower his fighting and dual classing skill. And if we assume he picked Sorcerer, he would be needing charisma to throw spells, and to throw spells as a sorcerer, you need a charisma score of 12, his skills in intelligence went to other things, such as Strength, Constitution, and etc. Fighter juts put everything into strength, which means he has about 18-19 strength, maybe some stuff went into dexterity aswell.

We've got a bit of a problem here, Black Mage is a wizard, and his main stats should be Intelligence, but sometimes he doesen't even sound remotely intelligent, he's propably wisdom oriented and got all his points on
Red mage appears intelligent sometimes, but most of the time he just goes wacko crazy.
[SMARTEST - THIEF]
[SMARTER THAN DUMB AND DUMBER/DUMBEST - BLACK MAGE ]
[DUMB - RED MAGE]
[DUMBER - FIGHTER]
[DUMBEST - FIGHTER]

Thief is the only one intelligent enough to stay the hell out of things, really.

Sorry, but, apparently, Garland and Bikke are right there, below Fighter. Also, Fighter says in one of the early strips that he just puts all his points in strength.

No-one has actually killed him yet, so you can't know how hard it is to kill him(!)
Any bets if fighter will ever die? And if so who will kill him?

Demetrius
12-08-2006, 08:58 AM
Man we know how hard it is to kill him, BM stabs him all the time and it maybe knocks him out for a while... He has a Con over 20, or regeneration or both and something on top of that.

Yes, the other option is Black Mage is like most Geeks I know. 19 or more Intelligence, Wisdom of probably 8 or so.

(just higher than Red Mage or Fighter)

Cause Black Mage's stupidity is based around inability to comprehend cause and affect with people and social situations.

Oh, excuse me. I meant to say how I love NOT Akbar.

I think that BM would benefit greatly from just picking up a Nymph Cloak +4 or something. Though considering his available sources, he'll probably only get a towel with hot pink feathers glued onto it and the word "Juicy" sewn sloppily into the back.

Black Mage can be pretty perceptive at times. He was the only one to notice when Thief muttered to himself in Pravoka, and he's the only one who could tell that Not Ackbar was going to rip them off. Too bad nobody believes him.

Fighter probably does a roll with any die and randomly gets a 100. It's the only explanation of how the hell he randomly is smarter than everyone.

BM tends to notice things much more than the other warriors do. Here's what I think his stats are:

Strength: 10 (His stabbin' knives work on everybody but Fighter)
Constitution: 1 (I don't need to explain this one)
Intelligence: 20 (He seems to be able to cast lot's of spells, it's just the Hadoken that he can only cast once-per-day)
Wisdom: 15 (Explained above)
Charisma: 1 (Also does not need to be explained)

Here's Fighters:

Strength: 20
Constitution: 20
Intelligence: 1
Wisdom: 18 (This explains his high Lore skill)
Charisma: 15 (Everybody loves Fighter, even White Mage was attracted to him)

And no, these values are not D&D friendly. At all.

Black Mage:

STR - 10
DEX - 17 (Noticed how fast he can stab in a stabbity fury?)
CON - 10
INT - 21
WIS - 14
CHA - 7

Fighter:

STR - 20
DEX - 16
CON - 19
INT - 9
WIS - 11
CHA - 14

Mazyrian

I'd say more like

Black Mage
WIS - 6 (he can be sometimes intelligent but not that wise)
CHA - 1 (the mere sight of his face cause madness)

Fighter:
INT - 1 (RM said that he has INT so low he drains it) or something like 30 (so high that often seems to be low)

Khael!
12-12-2006, 01:28 PM
How the hell could Red mage have a Charisma of 12!? He said so himself, the low charisma score is the burden of every red mage. The lack of charisma/social skills is why everyone perceives him to be insane. (You can tell BM's CHA is worse too, since instead of seeming insane, BM is a raving antisocial lunatic.)

RM needs to have a really high intelligence score; it's why he has so many skillpoints to put into things like escapology and glassblowing.
It's just that he has an abominally low wisdom score, and so wouldn't know he was getting scammed if you stamped the word on his forehead. It may be even lower than his charisma.

Burkion

Black Mage:

STR - 12 (You do NOT stab formless ones back into the depths without some decent strength)
DEX - 17
CON - 2
INT - 21
WIS - 7
CHA - 4

Fighter:

STR - 27 (Fighting a Volcano Goddess on even ground? Yeah)
DEX - 30 (Honestly. The dude can use sword chucks without killing himself.)
CON - 19
INT - ????? (The Void)
WIS - 11
CHA - 20 (EVERYONE loves him. 'Cept for BM)

Red Mage:

STR: 15
DEX: 20
CON: 9
INT: 28
WIS: 1
CHA: 4

Thief:

STR: 16
DEX: 30
CON: 8
INT: 17
WIS: 18/8 (18 for normal events, 8 concerning the Elves)
CHA: 20

Khael!

Whoa, charismatic Fighter. I totally didn't notice that until you pointed it out. Freakadelic.

:fighter: Whee! I hope I get cookies.

Why isn't Black Mage's charisma zero? I wanna see a zero there. Then I could point and laugh at him for being the ugliest member of the party. Heehee, ugly.

Tiako
12-13-2006, 03:09 PM
One thing I argue for Fighter's intellegence is that he was the only one who understood the concept of "sacrifice" (http://www.nuklearpower.com/daily.php?date=040603). He understood it in kind of a stupid way, but he was the only one to get it.

Therefore, it is my theory that although Fighter is technically the dumbest, he has the least personalities flaws getting in the way of his intellegence, so his practical intellegence (The amount he can actually use) is at times higher than the rest of the Light Warriors.

I'm not sure but I think Fighter died in Episode 222: An Imminent Reunion.
http://www.nuklearpower.com/daily.php?date=021207
You might care to notice that, in the next episode, he was able to shake off a ten thousand foot drop.

Black Mage is as smart as he needs to be to best suffer in any given moment. Thus, he's smart enough to know that he is being swindled due to the incompetence of his comrades. But he's not smart enough to look at his new clothes before bragging about how awesome he looks.
Heh, that works for me.

and he's the only one who could tell that Not Ackbar was going to rip them off.
Thief got out of that encounter with all of RM's and Akbar's money, so I think Thief decisively wins there.

I think that BM would benefit greatly from just picking up a Nymph Cloak +4 or something.
I think BM's "spell components" act as a negative Cha modifier, so a Nymph Cloak +4 would likely bring his Cha up to zero.
