From your answering the question of what gender you hope your future child to be, or lack there of, I'm gonna guess that neither of you want to fess up which gender you want so as to avoid dissappointing the other.
In related news, the father is the deciding factor in the gender of the baby.

Although a thought like parenthood scares the ever living daylights out of me. I have to say that I find it highly respectable for other people to do.
I hear once you become a parent that you become immune to the magical effects of Baby Juice which turn you into a baby as well.
Enjoy your new immunity and have lots of fun. I expect with such upstanding nerdly parents that your child will be very well taught in the ways of the nerd.

Well according to Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Male_pregnancy), it is at least theoretically possible for a male to carry a baby to term. Depending on how far along your pregnancy is, you might be able to transplant the fertilized egg into an abdominal cavity. Shiney would also have to take female hormones, of course.
But hey, its for science!
Heck, I'd gladly contribute some funds towards this, and I bet a number of other forum goers would as well. Right guys?
Just be sure to bring this up the next time your hubby tries to be 'charming', if that doesn't shut him up I suggest you find & buy a copy of this (http://www.amazon.com/Court-TV-Lorena-Bobbitt-Documentary/dp/1572521554)and make Shiney watch it with you. Y'know, as a family thing. :)

And, as tempting as it may be to some, don't neglect your child's CHA score just to get him a high INT score, or he may suffer. Or the geeks will have taken over by then, and Int will be the new CHA and you don't have to worry about it at all.

In all seriousness, Hector is a pretty good name, if it's a boy. His middle name could be "breaker of horses." That, right there, is some cool shit. Plus it's not such a common name, without being weird or anachronistic.
Oh, is it OK to treat this as a baby-naming thread? Are you guys totally set? Am I just rambling for no reason because I'm jacked up on ADD medication (well within the bounds of my legally perscribed dosage, thank you. Amphetamine is amphetamine, people)? Seriously, though, Hector is a fucking awesome name. He's basically the most heroic hero to ever engage in heroism. Plus, then the name disposes him to being a literature nerd, on top of all the other kinds of nerd-dom into which he shall be indoctrinated. You could read him the Iliad as a bedtime story.
"And then Hector, son of Priam, prince of Ilium, husband of Andromache, father of Astyanax, and guy with generally a crapload of epithets, disembowelled Sarpedon, son of Zeus."
If decades' long war, egotism, and disembowelment doesn't just warm your heart right up, then I don't know what could.

B_real is right though parents are invaluable once the baby comes. They're so eager to see their grandchild that they don't care that you work them like slaves when they come over. Just make sure they bring meals with them when they do.

Slight problem. When the child is born, we're probably going to move to a different state. That means I'm half the world away from my own parents (in the UK) and a couple of states away from each of Shiney's parents. I'm pretty screwed. =D

I assisted my first child-birth a few months ago at school... it... it was an interesting journey.

Slight problem. When the child is born, we're probably going to move to a different state. That means I'm half the world away from my own parents (in the UK) and a couple of states away from each of Shiney's parents. I'm pretty screwed. =D
I'm no expert on this sort of stuff, but you should make it out okay. At least they can still give you verbal support, via phone. Right? Maybe? Perhaps?
It's like one of those choose your own adventures books.
Except real.
And not fake.

No & just no.
Of course, if we do end up with an Alexander, I suggest we refer to him as Lex, as the evil buisness tycoon we know he one day will become.

I have a feeling Shiney will be saying these things alot more here on in:
"S/he's calling for his mum."
"I changed him/her last time."
"Why me?"
"Kill me."
"S/He gets that from your side of the family."
"A dingo stole my baby." (wait, wrong person. Silly me, heh)
Ok, seriously, congrats on your new bundle of lyfe Shiney and RaiRai.

Am I the only one frightened by the prospect that Shiney is reproducing? I mean, I've talked with him. Lord knows what kind of things he's going to teach to this poor kid, conciously and inadvertantly. Rai, I have the feeling you're gonna have to watch him like a hawk when he's near the child, lest he teach the baby all about buttsex or something.
Honestly, I'm surprised Shiney finally found the right hole.

What, so, the baby is now ours? We, as the forum, collectively own it? There's definitely got to be some legal grounds for that argument, I mean, two mods, brought together by NPF -- obviously, without NPF, no baby, thus, all the same rights as the parents.
I can't wait to see what kind of adult the child will become afte being acclimated to society soley by the collective wisdom of NPF. *shudder*

Okay, you're never allowed to name a child, ever. Jesus fuck, why not just call him Swirlietarget McWedgiepants and be done with it?
Oh, I haven't even started yet.
Also, inasmuch as it's still up for discussion, but as far as names go - I'm pretty sure every boy growin' up at some point or another wishes his parents had been cool enough to name him Chainsaw.
Come on, you know it's true.
Oh, I'm totally with this suggestion. Take it in to consideration. And if you guys don't like Chainsaw, call him (if it is a he) Moottorisaha.
We, as the forum, collectively own it?
It could be communism, taken to a whole new level.

I can't wait to see what kind of adult the child will become afte being acclimated to society soley by the collective wisdom of NPF.
A child raised collectively by the NPF would grow up warped and devoid of morals, and would somehow end up with a robot arm and a cybernetic eyeball that shoots lasers before he/she turns 14. You know it's true. So the bottom line is: Shiney, RaiRai? You know that old saying that "It takes a village to raise a child?" Yeah. You're gonna want to find a better village than this. XD

... Now that's not fair at all, he would totally have morals. Just, morals premised on a blanket justification for wreaking indiscriminate destruction with his bionic super-powers (http://www.theoldcomputer.com/Libarary's/Pictures/NESGameCovers/B/Bionic%20Commando.jpg).

That portion of the sentance pretty much sums-up the basic conclusion of every single thread related to the topic of morality... Actually, you could probably leave that last bit in there and it would still work for like, 81% of the topics, probably.
Does anyone have any archived pics of shiney and Rai (I'm hoping no, actually, now that I think about it?) from the camwhore threads? We could take, like, a generic baby picture, and then use one of them new-fangled photo-merging programs to meld features from shiney and Rai's faces into the image... Then I guess be pretty scared of what we come up with? It should be good times had by all.

I'm not sure I ever got in on the full story about 'chuzzles'. They are like candy or something? Or, I guess in current context, the anti-birth control?
A serious question for shiney and Rai, actually - And my asking this in earnest is really kind of an invasion of privacy, so don't feel obliged to comment, but was this pregnancy planned, or expected at all? I mean, you guys sound thrilled in either case, but I was just curious if this was something you guys were working towards... you know... Through sex.

Or, I guess in current context, the anti-birth control?Chuzzle is this Yahoo game or something that involves sliding wrapping rows of brightly colored puffballs around in an attempt to line them up according to color, which destroys them. Or, like most toddlers, he/she will bather on in idiot baby talk excitedly... Only, with the anime watching, 'shiney-Rai-Juniorettawhatever', will holler loudly with both fists clenched for about a minute and a half, at which point shiney will unwittingly waddle over to his child to see whats wrong, and fall for the oldest trick in the book as 'baby-shiney' throws his little baby fists into his fathers crotch.

Isn't that a bit premature? I mean, wait until they figure out if they can manage to support one before jumping onto the baby making bandwagon.
And you don't know they won't end up with a pair right from the start, let alone more than that. (Of course, unless Rai & Shiney were resorting to fertility drugs, I think that unlikely.)
