I figured since Beast Wars was the name of the last thread, and Beast Machines was the worst thing to happen to Transformers since the Pretenders, plus the 07 movie now seems that much closer, AND it really is '07, the thread title is appropriate.
Anyway, news on Transformers: Movie Optimus Prime on Ebay. (http://cgi.ebay.com/Transformers-Movie-OPTIMUS-PRIME-mini-figure-prototype_W0QQitemZ270075456958QQihZ017QQcategoryZ 4696QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem) He actually looks pretty slick.
YouTube japanese trailer for Transformers '07. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uVhE7DVUFvA&NR) Better shots of Bumblebee, and a nice energon cube.
EDIT: Huh. I'm not seeing the energon cube that Seibertron mentioned.

Seibertron? I've heard they're not very reliable, at all. I usually check out http://www.tfw2005.com/ myself, but usually I find my info at the Allspark (http://www.allspark.com/forums/)forums that I've started hanging out at.
And note that isn't the main Optimus Prime, something like a Legends of Cybertron treatment.
Like this Megatron (http://cgi.ebay.com/Transformers-Movie-MEGATRON-mini-figure-prototype-New_W0QQitemZ270075463654QQihZ017QQcategoryZ4696QQ rdZ1QQcmdZViewItem)

And the last thread was Best Wars, BEST WARS! Can 't you read!

Energon, however, really was.

BM's 1st season was actually somewhat decent, but the 2nd was fairly dreadful. I forget, but somebody other than Bob Skir (Beast Machines' story editor) wrote the plot outline for Season 1. Season 2 was all Bob Skir, and without any direction Season 2 seems to do nothing more than drag out the conclusion of Season 1.
That's just my opinion on the matter. Well I can't say I was found of any of the Maximal forms, but the Vehicons were pure love. (I even like the toy Scavenger.)
As for Armada/Energon/Cybertron, I'm blissfully ignorant. There may have been good points to those shows, but what I saw, I didn't like.

Agreed. And about "Best wars"...that was a slip of the keyboard.
It's one of those things, sort of like not capitalizing the 't' when you're talking about electrical transformers.
Anyway, I liked the CG of Beast Machines - it was purely awesome, and Thrust is still one of my favorites from that series. But the idea of basically retconning all of the Transformers by saying that Cybertron was, at one point, organic really grinds my gears.
I'm just glad that TF fans ignore it.
EDIT: Okay, I'm like, going out on a complete limb here, but I'm guessing Fifthfiend changed the title?

I liked Beast wars... because I was, like, 6 at the time. Now it's not as good, especially the first few episodes. "Yo! Shift your scanners to east, fellas! This party's got big-time crashas!"
I never liked Beast Machines... and all the new TF shows are just massive cash-ins, both on the Anime craze and the Transforming-stuff-is-so-badass craze.
I hope the movie's good, and I hope they keep the drama to a minimum. TF isn't about "Oh no, our poor goat had been hurt by a stray bullet!" It's about TRANSFORMING-F***ING-ROBOTS! They blow each other up! They don't make war on humanity, and they shouldn't scare people! They should make people wet themselves in awe, but they shouldn't create a last-moments-together romantic scene! AUGH!
Rant over.

Oh come on. Beast Wars is still the series that got me back into the Transformers! Some of the writing Furman and DiTillo got into was outstanding, especially with Rattrap's smart-assed comments and Silverbolt and Blackarachnia's relationship. Their dialogue still inspires stuff that I write to this day.

Hell, I'm re-starting my old Transformers collection.
If you're too old for toys, you're missing the point entirely.
Well, I wouldn't say I'm too old for toys, but I'm starting to get pragmatic about them. The ones I don't play w/ or display, I don't really feel the need to keep (and wouldn't have sold by now if I knew the first thing about selling on eBay), and I don't have enough room as it is, so despite temptation, I don't really add to my meager collection.
So in that sense, I am too old for toys. It isn't that its just because they're too kiddie, or I don't pull one out to TF on occasion, I just don't feel the need to have a huge collection anymore.
But I do like looking at the toys, especially the current ones that put the bricks of my yesterday to shame. Having not been able to afford too many of the good TFs until the line started to go to crap (even for G1 standards), I'm used to not having everything I want, and I can be satisfied with the few I've got.
Still, I wouldn't laugh at anyone for having a toy, and understand the reasoning fully.

Pragmatism under the circumstances of the currently lowered value of the american dollar is perfectly understandable.
Only reason I'm starting up my collection is because I feel it appropriate - I'm going to get a few G1 characters duking it out, probably get a Masterpiece Megatron when he comes out and have him and Prime fight it out, maybe take a few pictures and make a few comics, I'll eventually get an Optimal Optimus and Dragon Megatron and have them start beating the shit out of each other.
Hell they go on the display rack after that, but it's fun in the meantime.

It isn't about the dollar for me, its about space & which are my favorites.
I mean, I had been holding out on the Masterpiece/20th Optimus Prime because he was so huge, but when little THS-02 came out, I nabbed him right up. Of course, once the news of MP Megatron broke, I made sure that a MP/20th was in my Christmas future.
(And for the record, I was aiming for a 20th DVD edition Prime, and I got myself a MP-04.)
Now I've got to work out space where I can put him & Megatron.
SWB
Of course, I grew up w/ G1, most of the toys that are devoted to my icons aren't what I'd call must-haves. Even the modern homages & updates just don't hit me like that.

Well there is supposedly a Toys-R-US exclusive Soundwave re-issue in the pike, that comes with both Ravage & Laserbeak. Also, has a modified tape door that holds two tapes at once (so the tape door won't be flush, don't know if that bothers you).
Despite being a Toys-R-US exclusive, some have made it into seller hands prematurely. I think the reasoning I've read, is that they got them directly from China.

That video is undoubtedly the worst thing ever. It's not even "So bad it's good," it's beyond that point. I couldn't even get past when the guy says "POW-URR!"
Anyway.
I just picked up Classics Bumblebee, Astrotrain, and Mirage. I really like Classics Bumblebee alot. He looks absolutely sweet and has alot of influence from the IDW Bumblebee. I keep on having him get in a wrestling contest with Astrotrain.
I'm not liking Mirage too much. He's way too spindly and gangly, and doesn't look too much like his G1 self, and not in a good way (like BB). Astrotrain's okay, the 'nose' of the train/shuttle should 'lock' on the outside of his arms, in my opinion, but they're pretty sweet.
I'm curious - I saw Classics Megatron and Classics Optimus Prime. I almost got them, but I was thinking about just holding out for Masterpiece Megatron. Thoughts?
Sky Warrior Bob
01-08-2007, 06:41 PM
Well frankly, I think Classics Megatron looks fairly silly. Not worth my time, but you may feel otherwise. I admit, with a better paint (http://www.angelfire.com/mech/jinsaotome/JinsDangerousToys/Megatron.html) job, he's a bit better looking, but I have neither the skill nor patience to get anywhere close. (Note: There are actually two Megatrons on this link, one is the first attempt, followed by an even better looking 2nd attempt. Make sure you scroll completely down.)
And that guy's a professional, here's something (http://www.allspark.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=21092&hl=)a bit closer to what the average person can hope to accomplish. (But even that may be pushing it.)
If I'm looking for TF reviews, I usually stop by here (http://www.eyrie.org/~dvandom/BW/).
I've actually considered getting a classics Bumblebee, but if I did I'd give him an un-extreme makeover like this one (http://www.transformersclassics.com/gallery/Customs-Autobots-UN-Extreme-Bumblebee).
(I think you just use 91% ISP alcohol, in the same way you can modify Classics Starscream (http://www.reprolabels.com/Classics/).)

Ever check out a toy chain called Toyworld? On Dec 13th, a poster (http://www.allspark.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=20475&hl=)on the All Spark forums claimed that one in Townsville, North Queensland was carrying the Comic-Con exclusive, Nemisis Prime.
Also mentioned in that thread, is an Australian based toy provider that does carry TFs. Called, Casefresh.com (http://www.casefresh.com/).
Edit: Oh you mean the animated stuff, don't you? Are you includding cable & all that? And I'd have thought you'd get Beast Wars/Beast Machines/Robots in Disguise, as it was run by Fox, and after a quick search it certainly seems like (at least some) Fox stuff is broadcast to Australia.
If all you missed are Armada/Energon/Cybertron, then you didn't miss anything that was super worthwhile. What could bear to watch was on par with RID.
Double Edit: Seems like you actually get Cartoon Network. Well, its likely that you did get Armada/Energon/Cybertron. But even in the states, they didn't exactly have a consistant time-block.

I didn't like mini-cons to begin with. While I like Optimus Prime's design for Cybertron, I don't like the rest of the cartoon. It seems entirely too "Let's Make Everything X-Treme with The Movie!"
Also: Those repaintings of Megatron really make me want one. The only reason I don't is because of the bright purple and white. It doesn't seem very "Classic" to me. The main reason I do is because I don't have a Megatron yet, and I need to add one to the collection. Plus, since the only Prime I have is Masterpiece Prime, I'd need to buy Classics Op' too (otherwise we've got some scale issues), and I'm not too hot about him either.
EDIT: There's rumors flying about, where Whelker is Megatron once more. (http://www.seibertron.com/news/view.php?id=9177) I hope these are more than just rumors. It'd be even better if there's some Behind The Scenes stuff on the Transformers 07 DVD of Welker and Cullen dressing up in red and grey and pretending to shoot each other. Transformers geek dream.

Personally, I don't really see Elrond/Agent Smith (Hugo Weaving) being a good Megatron, admittedly I haven't heard his voice range, but still... So, if its just down to Welker & him, I'd prefer Welker. Then again, there might be a better choice out there. The interview (http://www.allspark.com/content/view/1/16/)in which Welker does the Megatron voice for Allspark, well it does sound a bit too tired, and a slow reading. Still not too shabby, but meh...
Oh, and a full body CGI (http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/showthread.php?t=119724)of Barricade came out recently...

Edit to Add:
Full body shot of Megatron (http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/showthread.php?t=119712). If that's what they're going with, it doesn't look like they've changed the head. At least, not in ways that ppl will notice or care about.

And my opinion of it, is that it looks ugly as hell, I know that this is for the big screen so some changes are needed and all that shit.
But damn this thing or whatever it is, is taking things a little to far, the old megatron was cool and bad ass this one is just ugly there is nothing more to it then that it is just ugly and should never have left the drawing board to begin whit.
but enough about my hatred for this design what do you think about it.

I like the metallic codpiece. Very classy touch. But don't you know the teenagers won't go spend their parent's money on a movie unless it's Xtreme to the Max? I say it's not extreme... excuse me, Xtreme, enough! Where are the neon lights? The flaming exhaust? The Nitrus Oxide injectors? That thing only looks like Vin Diesle could jump it over the Grand Canyon while doing a lame two barrel rolls, instead of an Xtreme three.

Those Protoform toys from the previous page, would anyone actually buy those? I mean, I thought that Transformers were supposed to turn into something cool. You know, I thought that myself, yet some collectors on Allspark.com jumped in said they wanted those things now. Of course, they could just be saying that because they're Hasbro supporters no matter what, and will buy anything it produceds that's TF related (or at least what comes from the movie).
But yeah, I think the protoform toys are stupid, and they look nothing like what we've got in the movie (from the preview). At very least, if they did a protoform of that, it wouldn't be nearly as laughable. Not a great alt mode, but at least something ppl could re-make into neo Rock Lords.

To be honest it struck me more as what you'd get from a guy who just got out of one real ugly relationship.

Here's an Optimus (http://www.gen1tf.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2833)that practically looks about the same size, yet slightly different. (Prototype design?)
Also shown is Megatron. Pictures of Bot & Vehicle are up.

I don't work for them any more *sobs* my internship is up, so I'm not as concerned about not showing the pics I have. but I still don't want to risk it too much. Not sure which pic, mine or the one SWB linked is more accurate. From the shear number of toys Hasbro is going to flood the market with for this movie, they could both be released.

Holy movie toy photos, Batman!
Ratchet, Starscream and three little friends. (http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/showthread.php?t=120401) Children perhaps? The mind shudders at such possibilities! Ratchet's looking nice, though the heads a bit strange. Starscream actually looks better too, although he's definately the low point of the new designs for me. The other three are just cute.
Blackout! (http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/showthread.php?t=120407) I'd have to say he's definately my favourite of the new designs. I love the little touches, like the fact those ridges on his head echo the back rotors and the little Scorpinok that comes with him. He's slightly mistranformed in the picture though.
Gasp! Megatron and Prime too?! (http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/showthread.php?t=120301) (EDIT: already linked by Bob). This seems to be a different toy from that other toy prototype in this thread. He looks like he's not fully transformed - the arms need to be rotated into their correct configuration. Megatron's actually looking pretty scary. Are those dual arm cannons I spy?
Speaking of which, there's been this little concept sketch (http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/showthread.php?t=120394) of Megatron's arm cannon leaked. Impossible to say how current it is though. We've seen several iterations of Prime after all.
EDIT: Hmm, didn't see someone's already linked the Megatron and Prime photos. Oh well, I'll keep it there. Strange no-one really commented on the previous linking.

He's MegaTRON, not MegaMAN.
It's pretty cool though. Aside from the metal shavings Megs.
EDIT: Also, I love the new Ratchet. I think he's right up there with some of the G1 TFs.
I still can't get over the Waspinator head on SS, though.

First picture of Optimash (http://seibertron.com/news/view.php?id=9250)Prime. Yeah, you heard me.
And Mirai, you think entirely too highly of the G1 TFs. (At least in terms of toys...)

I see your Optimash Prime and I raise you a transforming Prime plushie (http://www.seibertron.com/news/view.php?id=9251).
Incidentally, news about that Ironhide toy in this thread - its one of the 'Fast Action Battler' line. They have greatly simplified transformations from the other toys in the movie lines. That's why his arms are a little stubby. Still, seeing how good that looks, I'm looking forwards to seeing the full versions.
That Jazz toy and the Optimus with the big head are also Fast Action Battlers.

I wasn't referring to toys. I'm just glad that the new Movie Ratchet toy looks at least something like G1 Transformers. It's got the doors and the grill-for-a-chest and everything.

MP3 Soundwave (http://www.bigbadtoystore.com/bbts/menu.aspx?menu=1256).
Very pricey, and neat looking. I think its a great idea, but if it only plays mini-SD cards, its a fairly poor MP3 player for the price.
And what's with charging so much extra for the color variations?
Meh. Well, I kinda hope the recess behind the SD card will allow a tape thing of some sort, but that might be asking for too much.
If it took Compact Fash Type II microdrives, that would both allow mock-up replacements for the tapes, as well as allow for something a bit closer to an iPod.
Edited to add: UN-sweet. Digital-Toys corrected itself & stated that only the Prime speaker thing is licensed from Apple. Soundwave, remains something (thus far) exclusive to Takara.
Hasbo, pretty please? With sugar on top?
Oh, and Masterpiece Megatron (http://www.allspark.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=22870&st=0&gopid=479152&#entry479152)in full color is pure love.
Yet another edit: Shoe-Formers (http://www.bigbadtoystore.com/bbts/product.aspx?product=TAK10698&mode=retail)! Takara, you so crazy.
Even I'm starting to get sick of the edits... Papermus Prime (http://smpenterprisesllc.com/flash/bin/1999/model04.html).

Movie Prime. (http://tformers.com/HASBRO-ROLLS-OUT-TRANSFORMERS-TOYS-THAT-ARE-%E2%80%98MORE-THAN-MEETS-THE-EYE%E2%80%99-FOR-TH/7131/news.html)
Another movie Prime and a movie Megatron. (http://www.wizarduniverse.com/magazine/toyfare/003382592.cfm)
Okay, so Megs is a big ball of sperm. But that Prime is pure effing love. I am going to love that toy.

Unless, I'm seeing something different that's Protoform Prime not Megatron.
Prime before he gets his truck mode.

Well its an improvement over what we've seen before, and the head design at least doesn't look any worse than any of the other TF movie characters. Personally, I think they could've done better if they scrapped the nasty tooy grin, but since the toy's already been made, I suppose this is as best as we can hope for.
http://www.sectorseven.org/ has kinda updated, or at very least a new password has emerged. Use the new password thefirst7 (it comes from some ESPN thingie apparently).

At this point, I don't really mind if the movie tanks or not; I'm seeing it, and buying as many of the kickass toys as possible.
