Does Sosa tell the truth?
Wow I can't wait. I got Right Hand of Doom a while ago and I love Hellboy! I just hope they don't cast a crappy actor, make Hellboy computer generated, or wear lycra or a really bad overshiney suit that looks nothing like his comic book appearances(see: Green Goblin).
Likeliness dictates all of those will happy sadly.
If we see a Sandman movie, and a game based upon the English Sonic Comic (Which had a GREAT storyline torads the ned) I will be significantly less depressed.

Yes, Hellboy will be coming out in April, I believe. Check out upcomingmovies.com to check out the previews for it. It already has a full theatrical trailer. I personally looking forward to this as well.

Its not all CGI. All the characters in the movie preview (minus the creatures Hellboy was fighting) were real and in costume even if they didn't look human. And from my knowledge, Hellboy is an independent comic book series. Check Google, it should be able to find out about the comic more than the movie, since the movie isn't coming out for a while.

Well, I caught the preview during my re-viewing of ROTK, and I'm pretty sure that Ron Perlman was the guy done up in the Hellboy garb.
(And a trip to Internet Movie Database http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000579/ confirms it)

Hellboy looks awesome, and from the synopsis that i read on their site they are keeping fairly close to the plot of the comics. The one thing that may sink it though is it looks like they may try and introduce one of those love triangle things between hellboy the firechic and the human character they invented that isnt in the comics

Yay. I hope it starts from the start, because I don't really know how things started out.

wel i dont know how thorough they are gonna be with the back plot but from the looks of it they usein the plot to seeds of destruction. the back plot in quick is:
Hitler hires some ppl to summon the antichrist, they succeed except that he is incarnated in the wrong place, found by british operatives he is raised by "good" humans and grows up to be a paranormal investigator. The one who summoned him is rasputin the crazy russian guy, rasputin works for the seven(?) elder gods who wifh to destroy the world, he wants to use hellboy to this end, problem is hellboy is nice, other characters:
Abraham sapien- a fishman friend of hellboy
Liz- A woman with pyrotechnic abilities, friend of hellboy
A bunch of crazy nazi's- check thier site, cause i dont remember which ones they used

Hmm, I didn't know anything about the Hellboy series before this thread, but I saw the movie trailer during ROTK as well, and thought the movie looked awsome. It may be a while, but if it's as good as the trailer suggests, I'm looking forward to it.

What kind of superhero is Hellboy? Well, not exactly what kind, what are his powers? I saw in the trailer that he punched a car and sent it flying, and I think he was either jumping or flying at some point, but is that the extent? And does he know that he was summoned to destroy the world?

Hellboy is, from what I have read, stonger and faster then a normal human. He also has this kickass glove thing that holds emmense power.
Hey, guess who just got an offical hellboy movie poster? Me!

Did he always have that stone hand? To be honest, I only became familar with Hellboy since the movie trailer, and it did prompt me to go and read Hellboy: The Lost Army by Christopher Golden, so I'm missing out on some of the backstory. Hellboy seems interesting enough, as the idea of a bad-ass demon working for the side of good is fairly interesting.
However, in my read of the novel, I got the impression that something might happen to Hellboy if he ever allowed his horns to grow back, is that right? And what pray tell, is it?

he has always had the stone hand, and his horns have grown back at least once, and it was during something bad, in the "wake the devil" graphic novel, but then he broke them back off. hell boy cant fly but hes strong. the stone hand has some unkown source of power that no one but pasputin knows how to use

Read the Right Hand of Doom, I don't want to spoil it, but I'll say they it's a Key.
Hellboy appears to mix Pagan and Christian mythology a lot, there is a Heaven and Hell but also multiple Gods. I suppose you can please everyone that way ;)

A big red dude with a big fist, hooves and a tail. Also some kinda stumps where horns would be on the forehead.
