View Full Version : Shameless Propaganda

I'm about to come into about $800 and I recently realized my gaming collection is quite low (recently sold most of my games during some wierd "No time for games" phase). So, I turn to you people of the Nuklear Power forum. Make your suggestions and shamelessly promote those games which you love and hope to boost the sales of. I'm playing with a PS2 and can't afford to play online. So come on, show me the love.
(PS - I'm a trigamer, I'll try any game)

Not only is Armored Core 3 out, but they've made an "expansion" (you know, you can use your AC from the old one) for it named Silent Line: Armored Core. AC3 is MUCH better than AC2, including the story. The arena battles' AI is a lot more difficult (either that, or I'm just gettin rusty).
As for other games, they've all been said (unless you want old Playstation games as well).

I don't know when, but Star Ocean: Till the End of Time will probably be good. It's the classical style RPG and it's made by Squenix. It kinda looks like FF9, a lot of people don't like that game but...it was still one of the better RPGs for ps. Anyways...save $50 for that...

Don't forget Ape Escape 2! It's more like ape escape 1.5, considering it is just better graphics and the main characters sounding exactly like ash and misty from pokémon, (the girl is really voiced by the same person who speaks for misty). but nontheless, loads of fun.

The Longest Journey isn't a PS2 game, but if you have anything approaching a halfway decent PC you should be able to run it without a problem, and it's the single greatest game ever made.
this is kind of stupid. what kind of consoles do you have, and what kind of games do you like?

FFX-2 is good
Soul Caliber is cool if you like fighters
I liked Silent Hill 3 but haven't had time to beat it
Megaman X-7 rocked
And, if you don't have disgaea already... drop whatever you are doing. Now. Go to the store and purchase it. Don't trifle with details such as speed limits.

Advice, like explosives, is dangerous, and should not be handed out indiscriminately. However, in this case, I'll make an exception. Go to the nearest rental store, look for something that catches your interest, and rent it. If it sucks, return it (see if you can't get your money back). If it rocks, return it, then head to the electronic entertainment center of your choice to purchase this game. Repeat as necessary.
if youre out for PC games, ive got some good ones:
Star Wars: Jedi Academy - Hey, its got saber-dueling, and all that FPS fun, need i say more?
Max Payne 2: more bullet time than a barrel full of neo's.
Final Fantasy XI and Star Wars Galaxies, both mmorpg's, if you wanna pay a monthly fee, all you have to decide is the age-old question of star wars, or final fantasy.
Battlefield 1942: this is THE WW2 game. period.
Neverwinter Nights: hehe, especially for that red magey side of you.
Star Wars: twinkage AND light sabers, i think im in heaven!
Halo: Combat Evolved - ill tell you where to shove your "only on xbox" sticker!
Savage: must-have for lan parties everywhere!

Well, in Micheal's post he said PS2... so I give PS2 suggestions.
Castlevania: Lament of Innocence-Run around, whip zombies and skeletons and other stuff. I'm enjoying the hell out of this game right now.
Soul Caliber II- I know it's already been mentioned, but I'll say it as well.. a very good fighting game, with Playstation exclusive Heihachi
Any of the .hack series- Each game continues onto the next, with you able to continue on the next game and keep your cool weapons and suchness. I've only played the first two, but I will say they are very addictive and fun.
FF Origins- Two games in one. The original Final Fantasy and FF II.... Though I didn't really like FF II, I played the hell out of Final Fantasy. Aaah.... Black Mage blasting everything in site and Fighter with his swords....
RPG Maker II- I've heard from a lot of other people that this is a good one. I'll take their word on it. >.>
If you're into sports games... any of the '04 titles. ~shrug~ I'm not into those myself...
Eh... I can't think of anything else off the top of my head... I'll check out the EB where my fiancee works and see if he can tell me any other good suggestions.

Scratches his head
I've really been out of the PS2 ring ever since I got FFXI... I think that I should start looking into some of the new games that are coming out for it.

Thanks for the help everyone. I'll rent some of the more interesting suggestions (or borrow from friends for a couple days). See what I like and maybe buy. Also, I decided to go ahead and get a gamecube since they're cheap. When I said I came into money, I meant about a thousand dollars.
