Finally someone makes a thread on Suikoden. -_-
What's to say. Its my favorite RPG series and has my favorite RPG in it, Suikoden II. I love all the ideas they have, almost all the characters and you can play it tons of times and get different endings and never run out of combonations for characters. And the magic system is the best in my mind. Plus the entire series story is set up around wars, the magic system and all those lovely Runes.
Suikoden Rules. Everyone play it. Its like Chrono Trigger and a ton of other good games combined, with 90% originality mixed in for good measure.

Suikoden is easily my favorite series... Apart of the very few games I've played more than once. On most forums/things, I go by the name Odessa, as my bf's usual nickname is Flik =P
I love the multitude of characters, traits, and worldly storylines ^^
Edit: HEY! Odessa needs to be on your poll! =(

This is really pushing me over the edge to restart Suikoden II. I haven't been able to summon the motivation ever since my catastrophic memory card disaster back in the fall, since i had gotten about 3/4's through the game. Now I'm remembering what an amazing game it is, and how much I miss it... I may just have to put Tales of Destiny on hold. Plus, I'd eventually like to getting around to Suikoden III, which I purchased in July and literally haven't touched. Hopefully, I can pull it all off before installment number four makes it's way over here.

Buy Suikoden I and play it through. Then play Suikoden II and transfer the memory from the games to three. There's some good bonuses for doing this (like being able to play as Tir in Suikoden II and hidden runes). And when Suikoden IV comes out, you'll have all three games finished with a continuous save file.
Just an idea if you want to.

Ah I just realized after looking over my poll that Jowey wasn't in suikoden 1. I can't believe I made that mistake with my favorite game if you can ever find it in your hearts to forgive me I'll try to not make these kind of mistakes again. Oh and I personally believe Kage is the coolest character due to his likeness of Edge from ff4 who happens to be the best final fantasy character ever.

Actually, that was something I was considering, since we have a copy at work I've had set aside for an ungodly amount of time. Are the bonus characters from the complete file from I necessary to get all 108 in II? Or do those not count towards the the grand total?

Yup, they are necessary. But you get to play as Tir so its good. I have yet to do it though. You need all 108 from #1 to get Tir in #2 (which Tir is needed to get all 108 in II).

Are there any good places to possibly find a copy of Suikoden I and II? I played through a friend's copy of II before he sold it, got all the stars.. And then lost the memory card just as I bought III. So if there are any suggestions I'd really appreciate it!

Gaming stores like Electronics Boutique or GameStop that sell used PS1 games. I found my copy of Suikoden II just randomly looking through the basket of used PS1 games at a random GameStop about 30 miles awa from my house. I make it a habit to look at the used game section of all the old systems I own at any gaming store I go to just in case they have some ultra rare or good game there cheap.
And I've seen Suikoden I alot. There's alot more of I than II. I see #1 most often for 30-40, where stores sell #2 for 50-60 used and its going on EBay for 100+. Obviously I don't suggest EBay. -_-

Yeah, Suikoden I should be fairly easy to track down. Use the store locators on EBgames and Gamestop's websites to see if anyone in your area has a copy. Not sure on EB's pricing, but GS in-store pricing should be $30.
I picked up the first game yesterday and started playing a couple hours ago, great stuff. I did a bit of sidequesting at the beginning and scored a Fortune Crystal. With all the levelling I had to do (Which didn't take long, surprisingly enough) I'm about 10 ahead of the rest of the group right now... I'm damn near unstoppable!

To get to play as Tir in Suikoden II, you don't need all 108 stars in Suikoden II. You can have any number and still get to play as Tir. But if you have all 108 stars from Suikoden I you can play as Tir and Gregrio (Or whatever his name was).

That's what storm was asking me about.
