History repeats itself. Time has shown again and again in its slow dance, that repetition is the drive of civilization. Problem arrives, the supposed hero rushes in, there is a war, and the hero wins. Generations later, it repeats.

Time is repetition. It may not be apparent, for few even remember what it is a repeating of. Sentience loses what makes it considered to be sentience. Free will becomes but an illusion.

But what happens if someone decides to defy time? What is someone wants to break the cycle?

Vana’Driel is a world that has lived peacefully for hundreds of years now. There have been countless small disputes, one almost conquest, but there is yet to be another full-blown war. Magic reached its full potential, and unleashed Armageddon. The seas boiled, the sky was as red as blood, mountains crumbled, and all was almost wiped out.

When it first happened, the Elves quickly stepped up to the plate and developed sorceries that would help stop the rise of magic. They used all of the magic, making incredibly complex spells, and sent magic back to the void it came from.

The second time, magic was stronger. It brought servants this time. But the Elves were victorious again. But their race was knocked down to a scarce population.

The third time, at 5000 years since the first Armageddon, the Dwarves, new to the world, and proud, took on magic. Their runes bent it, and bonded it, and sealed it securely, taming the wild beast that it was. They suffered as well though, their glorious settlements above ground ahnialated.

In another 2000 years, magic developed differently. It healed, and soothed. The Elves wove this as well, and White Magic was born to accompany Black Magic. The Dwarves created runes that affected the wielder directly. In another 1000 years, magic came again. This time it brought poison, and deceit. Elves and Dwarves blamed each other, and old friends became mortal enemies. The ground ran with blood as the two sides fought over a pointless war.

It was after this horrible slaughter they decided magic was becoming too dangerous. They found the gates that created it, and destroyed all they could. The chinooks that rushed in were reduced to breezes. Without the high amounts of magic left, some of the new Halflings grew, evolved, and became Humans.

Magic was not done. For a whole 3 more cycles, it repeated its process. While it was slowed, it was not vanquished. Each time, it brought more and more demons from beyond. It was successfully vanquished three more times., each time being harder on the world.

Then, it abruptly stopped. The Elves saw their need for force of arms was greatly diminished, and spread out, became a highly cultured group. Dwarves saw that weapons and armour would not be needed. Halflings retreated to their homes, Humans grew, and developed. All grew to be happy, and knowledge of the threat of magic was forgotten.

Explanation

Well….let me say it like this.

Magic is like rain, without any drains to get rid off it. It starts out, nice and light. The grass grows, the plants are happy. Then there’s enough rain that there’s nothing but puddle. Then it starts getting higher. It leaks into rivers, but there’s just so much. It keeps coming until it’s drowned everything.

And…well I won’t ruin the story. You’ll definitely know what is going on by the end of the first chapter though. And I get a feeling I am going to be hated on a grand scale. There’s a huge hint in the backstory.
Characters.

I have nothing to really say here. You really just need to insure your character has room to grow, and I would really like if you used some background to justify your characters abilities. No master anything please.

Also, a fairly big chunk of this will be character stuff. I’m gonna’ try to make it not seem like we’re running on tracks and rails, but please help me to that extent. If there’s a large chunk where we aren’t in the middle of a problem, that is the unofficial signal to do a bit of character development. To be blunt, your character is mostly likely going to be changed by this. Probably in the first 2 chapters. That’s where you learn about what goes bump in the night.

Try to link your characters to the current location if you can think of a way. Also, if you want to do some huge character developping thing, you don’t gotta’ ask. Just let me have a rough idea of what it is.

Setting.

Well, we’re going to start in a city called Karamar. Though we don’t know it, it’s the place where magic has been the most built up before.

Also, we’re going to be all at some sort of banquet/ball/really big formal thingy. You don’t have to be a rich snob, just try to think of some way to get in there. Please don’t go ninja.

Playable races.

We’ve got a bunch lined up.

Humans- Yes. These guys represent ½ of all known population. Jacks of all trades.

High and Wood Elves- Tall, graceful, basically Tolkien. One major difference to that however. Their eyes are all black. Rivendell dudes and Lothlorien dudes respectively. Elves aren’t the most favoured race by the huge ammounts of humans, because they’re considered to be stuck-up immortal, and fickle bastards. There are NOT a lot of these guys left.

Dark Elves- These guys want to make you run for your mommmy. They’ve gotten eyes like normal people. Only black coloured though. Unfortunately, their hair is a complete and utter dark black, and their skin is ashen grey. They’re much more hard-ass then their 2 other cousins. Also, Dark Elven equipment is very gothic, dark, and generally very very very nasty looking.

Lost Elves- These guys fit into none of the above. Nothing is really known about them, though some say that they were the ones that originally called magic. Humans don’t mind these guys, because despite their looking like High Elves, they act almost exactly like humans. These guys do die from aging, albeit it takes about a thousand years for that to happen.

Dwarves- These are the best smithies known. They rune a lot, and their work is generally not recgonizable until you either see the runes, or bust a weapon on it. They’re short and slow, but if one hits you with an axe, you ain’t standing up again. Oh, and they tend to be raging alchoholics.

Ogres- Mini giants. Stupid generally. They crush things.

Player Classes. (Note, Lost Elves can only be Citadel Guards, Wanderers, Mercenaries, and Rangers. And Templars if they’ve got a good bio.)

Civilian.

Fighter- They wear armour. They usually use swords or axes, and aren’t all bad with ranged weapons. Usually ex-military. Wood Elves and High Elves cannot be this.

Mercenary- Much more of a brawler fighter. They usually do underhanded tactics, and don’t have the best armour available. Favoured and feared by civilians. All Elves cannot be this.

Ranger- These are the bow and arrow guys. They can live and survive in nature for long times, and know how to camouflage in it. Ogres and Dwarves cannot be this.

Theif- Stealthy, dagger wielding, fast little buggers. Ogres cannot be this.

Wanderer- No set limits. This is the freestyle class here, but note that they will never be better in one thing then the class designed for it.

Templar- Knights of the church. Holy retribution, good with swords to boot. Ogres cannot be this (Gee, noticing a pattern.)

Waaaagh- These guys just hit things. Hard. Only Ogres can be this.

Miners- Well yes. This is self-explanatory. Only Dwarves and Humans.

An’Kalon- Elves live for so long that when they learn something very well, they can do master work as easily as a human could do lesser work. In the case of Elven Warriors who do not want to be fully affliated with the military, they often carry around this elven gear. High Elves only.

Black-Smith- These guys can repair, forge, and appraise almost anything. In battle, they wear their own equipment and carry their finest weapons with them, as well as the hammer that forged them. Wood Elves and Ogres may not be this.

Warrior Priest- These “heretics” worship the Warrior God of Sigmar. Being a warrior god, they praise him by killing the unworthy ones. They always carry hammers as their weapon of choice, Humans only.

Military Classes. (Note that it is not likely for Elves to beocme wizards. They’ve overcomplicated magic to make it as controlled, and “clean burning” as possible. Thus, they can’t stand the undisciplinned ways of the common wizards.)

Citadel Guard- Heavy armour, usually a pike or something. Elite fighters, little else.

Knights- Duuuuude, knights. Ogres and Dwarves cannot be this.

Iron Breakers- Fine dwarven full plate armour, bad-ass hammer. Only Dwarves.

Man-at-Arms- Basically a nobles little army. Not the best equipped, but on a lighter side, they arent’ as bogged down.

White Mage- Okay. Not exactly a military class, but they are recgonized as part of the military. Dwarves and Ogres are a no-no.

Black Mage- See above, just these guys kill stuff.

Rune Lords- The equivalent of a dwarven mage. Except these guys get AXES. Only Dwarves.

Battlement guard- Armoured as a standard soldier, these guys know to defend walls. They carry either a bow, or a sword. No Ogres, Dark Elves, or Wood Elves.

[B] We really don’t know what the hell. [/B}

Rider- A guy who uses a horse. Ogres and Dwarves yadda yadda.

Some sort of Mancer- Person who innately uses a single element as an extension of self. No Ogre love.

Shamans- They think they’re talking with spirits, but they’re actually just insane and manipulating magic. Only Ogres.

Redeemer- Silent brooding figures. They carry one single weapon, that they’ve carried for a life-time. It has a single slot in it, for a jewel that represents that they’ve had themselves redeemed. Lost Elves only.

Enemy races

Goblins- Thin, wily, fragile. They’re actually the size of a human, but because of how they hunch over you can’t see that. They actually have surprisingly good metal craft for how savage they are.

Orcs- These guys are bigger than goblins, and stronger. Their craft is very very crude, and the concept of trying to maintain gear is alien. They’re completely savage, and delight on Man-Flesh.

Druchii- These are the Dark Elf EXTREMES. When Dark Elves seperated, these are the guys that dove head-first into the darkest pits. They’re completely emotionless, and merciless. Unlike normal elves, they live by souls. Their craft is surprisingly clean, but bone-chilling, and their weapons seem to freeze when they hit you.

M’Keiron- These dudes have no actual physical form. They’re spirits of the great warriors of old, but who wouldn’t accept death. In actuality, they’re blue fire, but they’ve been sealed into silver suits of armour.

Argenor- These are the most evolved of the orcs. They possess all the savagery and strength of an orc, but the cold minds of a Druchii.

Beastmen- Part man, part beast. Corrupted, savage, and completely unpredictable.

Ockrists- Mutated humans, possibly crossed with goblins. Think smeagol.

Trolls- Do these guys need a description? Thought not.

Some how I am sure SS is going to be a High Elf or Wood Elf named Kal or Arc(k)...

And Beastman is bad guys only?

Darth SS

Wrongo this time.

And Beastmen are only bad-guys. They're horribly savage, wild, and uncontrollable mutants.

Aw...

And this isn't going to turn out like that RP where you wanted everyone to have their own chapter (Or get close to it), is it?

(I still think you're going to be some sort of Elf)

Oh no.....it's going to be far from it.

People who like power should be mages.

Actually, I was just about to set up an RP kinda like this! Oh, well. I suck with plots anways.

Name: Quil Granly
Nickname: Ghosty (Although he doesn't like it.)
Race: Lost Elf
Age: Unknown
Gender: Male
Primary Class: Redeemer
Secondary Class: Wanderer
Appearance: Quil wears a long, black hooded cloak which covers up all of his body. His feet seem to float just above the ground, and no one has actually seen his face. None that were sane enough to tell about it after they saw it. (Like BM, ya.)
Armor: black, hooded cloak
Weapons: A sythe that has been with him so long that he decided to name it Death. It's handle has a small opening for a jewel.
Equipment: none
Quote: "Consider yourself lucky you are actually able to die."
Bio: Quil was once a happy-go-lucky person who worked for a man who hired him for a small wage. He was very loyal, but one day a group of obviously hired mercenaries came his master's house, and Quil fled. Later he came back to see his master dead. He took his only possesion, his sythe used for working, and noticed there was something odd about it. A small opening in the handle notified him that he had now been cursed for eternity. He didn't know how he could remove the curse, so he just wandered aimlessly around the world. Feeling the guilt of betraying his master, Quil didn't want anyone to see him, so he took to wearing a hooded cloak.
Extra: Quil is still a happy-go-lucky person, just that no one has given him reason to be like that anymore. Now he rarely talks and is moody when he does.

And also, being a redeemer, does that mean you live forever until you complete your task? Or does it mean you are bound to it until you die?

Hm... This looks like a great thing you got goin' here. If ya don't mind, I think I'll join this...

Name: Noeru Jeope

Nickname(s): Monk

Race: Human

Age: 32

Gender: Male

Primary Class: Monk

Secondary Class: Black Mage

Appearance: Most of the time, can be found in a white Karate Gi, (complete with own Black Belt!), wearing no shoes, and a red bandana around his head.

During elegant scenes, can be found wearing a full light brown cloak.

Armour: Clothes but mostly skin.

Weapons: Fists

Equipment: N/A (I rely on the kindness of others)

Quote: N/A

Bio: Born and raised under his family until he was 5, then brought to live in a monestary, where he soon took to the ways of the wandering Monk and helping people. He also has found that he can dabble with the Dark arts. He doesn't know excatly why, but for some reason the power is there. He has only made guesses, like that one of his parents, if not both, were able to control magic at some time. (A little short, I know, but I've never been good with histories...)

Extra: Noeru is the ideal person. Kind, friendly, always there when you need someone to talk to, or beat up. He has been taught under the several styles of Martial arts, and has never lost a fight when it has come to fists. Don't expect him to use magic though. While he has it, it is very weak and limited.

Pretty nice set up SS.

Anyway, this might be edited a bit. Something about this just doesn't feel right yet.

Name: Adaron (Stands for "Lord of Forest" in some elven word generator I believe)
Nickname(s): None.
Race: Lost Elf
Age: 20 years since "Awakening"
Gender: Male
Primary Class: Templar
Secondary Class: Blacksmith
Appearance: Outside of the Church (where he wears robes) and the battlefield (where he was armed for combat) he wears simple clothes. Plain tunic and leggings, and occasionally a cloak. Oh, and yes, he does have boots.
Armour: Plated Vest; Shield; Leather Gloves; Helmet
Weapons: Broadsword, Dagger.
Equipment: Sheath, Combat Boots.
Quote: "I do not care that I lost my memory of days long ago for when my amnesia came I had a chance at a brand new start. So what if I had lost my former life? Look where I am now. I am happy, which is all that one needs to be."
Bio: Ten years ago he awoke inside a church, with several bruises on his body and a head wound, not to mention a lack of memory. They say he was found at the base of a cliff, with no clues as to how he got there. Nor were there any that gave a hint to who he was.
Eventually, after recovering from the wounds, he found that he did not want to go nor had anywhere to go anyway. Wishing to repay the church for helping him, he joined the Templar, and the rest, they say, is history.
Extra: Not a leader, nor a follower. If he does take the lead it is usually in the place for someone else.

Name: Dahhn Wan
Nickname(s): That Ogre, That Shaman.
Race: Ogre
Age: 44
Gender: Male
Primary Class: Shaman
Secondary Class: Mercenary.
Appearance: 12 feet tall, and full of muscles. He looks stupider than he is. He wears a patchwork chain mail shirt. He also wears some breast plates tied to gether as a skirt. He wears a large black patchwork trench coat over that, the coat is marked with shamanistic symbols. He also wears a wide brim black hat decorated with fetishes, like feathers, magic stones, tribal figures.
Armour: Patch work chain mail, with patch work armor plating in places.
Weapons: A 12 foot long thick wooden rod. Topped with an orb like knot at the top that has been reinforced with bronze, Iron, and tin. The staff is carved with tribal designs. A bronze jar of who knows what hangs from the knot at the top.
Equipment: An excelent quality steel curved knife (really it's a small scimatar). Various bowls, Jars, herbs and other plants, Feathers, a block of bees wax, bones, incense burners, a mortar and pestel, A bronze jar of "medicine" (see weapon), Earings piercing a tooth of various beasts, Bone lots, and an ogre sized pipe.
Quote: "Don't make me curse you."
Bio: Dahhn was born in the ogre territories. His father was a shaman and taught young Dahhn the samanistic arts. The proper ways to mix potions. The proper way to see, place, and remove curses. How to treat ailments, and inflict them. How to commune with spirits. Dahhn was an excellent pupil. He soon underwent his dream quest and wandered off. His quest led him far from home and he lost his way back. He still searches for his homeland. His abilities as a Shaman have grown and he's sold his services to pay the bills.
Extra: Again he's not nearly as stupid as he looks.

Darth SS

I'm just gonna' point out a few things I forgot to put into the info (damn character limits.)

Lost Elves have no past. So their bio is blanked out. Trust me, these guys are going to be VERY important to the plot.

I would prefer you didn't mix mancers. I mean, you're only innate with one kind of magic.

Also, MC43? The entire point of the dual class thing was so you could be versatile. You have three listed. All that Wanderer does is make you into a worse monk.

And please don't forget the class restrictions on Lost Elfs. So whoever put the necromancer down, sorry. Ya' can't do it. Once again, these guys are going to be SEVERELY linked with the plot, so I want to aovid as many loopholes as possible.

I call Ogre Shaman/Fighter (Can I be a little smart, or at least not oogh aah?)

Darth SS
02-19-2004, 01:37 PM
Um....they're OGRES. Their drawback to being so physically strong is that they're COMPLETE IDIOTS.

And on going over the bios closer, I noticed some more stuff.

Biran? Demons do not exist.

Jad? Your ogre guy can be smarted than most ogres, but he's still going to stupid by human standards. And he won't know he's channelling magic, just so ya' know.

I'm totally in this one, but before I post my bio, could you explain what an An’Kalon is again. I was kind of confused by your description.I'm thinking of playing a High Elf An'Kalon/Rider.

MC43
02-19-2004, 02:28 PM
Whatever, it's all right. As long as I get to beat up people with my fists in a religious way, I'm good.

Darth SS
02-19-2004, 02:30 PM
An An'Kalon is basically a High Elf that walks around wearing some of the finest wargear ever. He's the original "I fight for the weak!" guy.

Riders are lightly armoured calvary. Think the Riders of Rohan.

Hmm...should I stick with my usual and play as a girl? or go for something different and play as a guy?

Darth SS
02-19-2004, 02:52 PM
Play as a girl. It seems like we're going to very largely a male group, so...any way of balancing out how trigger happy we are would be appreciated.

Also, logical thinking might be needed to as to avoid,

"I say we just blow the whole damn thing up."

Name: Lúthien Elanessë (apparently that's my name using the elvish name generator)
Nickname(s): None
Race: Wood Elf
Age: 21 in human years
Gender: Female
Primary Class: Ranger
Secondary Class: Rider
Appearance: 6"7 with red hair and black eyes. She wears light armour and a green dusty cloak. She also carries a pack containing various equpment for surviving in the wild. Her horse Aldor, is an black 10 year old elvish mare.
Armour: Her: light armour consisting of a breatplate and gauntlets (not gloves). She also has light knee braces and brown boots.
Aldor: No armour, only a saddle and an area to carry things
Weapons: Elvish crafted Bow and Arrows. A 47 inch Ranger sword (like Aragorn's from LOTR)

Quote: None
Bio: Luthien was born in the Elvish Woods and was trained to be a Ranger. She was the daughter of a noble Elf and was forced to always go to banquets/parties etc. She would have much rather been off adventuring. Soon, her father decided that the more she went to banquets, the more chances she had of finding a nice husband to settle down with. Luthien did not want this, but she complied with her father's wishes. At one particular banquet, she met a nobleman who also happened to be a Rider. She was intrigued by this and asked him to teach her his ways. Her fahter was delighted to see that she had shown interest in a man, a High Elf no less. She however, was only interested in his training. When she finished learning with him, she brushed him off and went back to adventuring. Her father eventually became tired of her ways, and is now forcing her to go to various balls and parties again (that's the reason I'm in Karamar).
Extra: It's not that Luthien doesn't want to get married, she does. But she wants to explore the world and have a life first is all.

Plech! Elves and more elves!

These are the real men of the RP world!
Name: Kordan Gleamaxe
Race: DWARF, BABY!
Age: 38
Primary Class: Rune Lord
Secondary Class: Blacksmith
Appearance: 4'10", Tough, stocky, and with a rounded nose. Scruffy Brown hair, with a long beard with braids and *stuff* interspersed.
-Battle: He wears a custom made (obviously) Breastplate with a scale mail "skirt" of sorts extending down to his knees. Loose Mail hangs over his arms to allow him to cast effectively. He has a rough, baritone voice, which he uses quite often. His axe blade is heavily enscribed with the various runes of power that he has learned, and his armor is inscribed with runes of protection, as well as the small silver headband that he wears (though it provides only minimal aid at the moment).
-Casual: Light leather tunic, with a light mail shirt over it, leather pants and a small green cap
-Formal: A long sleeved red silk shirt overlaid with a fire motif, a light and smooth, but strictly ornamental shortsleeved mail shirt over it, with a sleeveless, cut down the sides Navy blue Silk tunic embroidered with his family crest. He also wears a thin gold headband.
Equipment: His forging hammer, three skins kept constantly full of dwarven Mead (Elven wine will do in a pinch, though), implements to keep his weapons and armor in good shape, inscription tools, and spell components.
Quote: meh, can't think of one
Bio: Kordan was the son of a prominent dwarven lord, and was raised as such. He has a great affinity for the runic magics and learns about their intricacies as often as he can, when not refining his skill with the axe. He has been invited to the gala for the purpose of meeting and opening a dialogue with Elves from the woods near his mountain home, elves that had been antagonized by his own ancestors.

Pyromancer.

Name: Linar
Nicknames: Ickle destroyer. (Call him that, and he will burn you to the bone.)
Race: Dark Elf
Age: Through some really long mathematical formula, that converts elven years to human years, 19.
Gender: Male
Primary Class: Pyromancer
Secondary Class: Monk (the kind that use weapons.)
Appearance: He stands at about 6' 5". He has black hair (gee, surprise surprise.) which he normally has pulled back into a tiny pony-tail (note, TINY) Ashen grey skin, and his cheek bones are a bit sharped than most. Pointy ears. He normally wears red, and lots of it.

Casual, he just wears red pants, a shirt, and a red overcoat. Nothing too fancy. If travelling, usually this with a cloak and pack.

Formal, red pants, and a red coat/shirt that's solid red with extensive gold embroidering focused around the collar, the shoulders, and the wrists. Black boots, and the shirt has a high collar (Like that one that Theoden walks around in.)

When he's extremely pissed, he gets covered in red fire.

In his off time? A pair of blue pants. That is it.
Armour: None. But some of his dad's "Thousand and on Dark Blessings." rubbed off on him. nothing big there. Sometimes he wears chain-mail under his shirt.
Weapons: He carries a bo-staff with him. (Like Kilik's.) He also has a long sword, that he cares for obsessively, that he wears on his back.
Equipment: He usually has a pack that contains sword-cleaning supplies, a bed-roll, and some food, along with a few cooking supplies. No flint needed for this dude!
Quote: "Woah, slow down. Mr. Destroyer is my FATHER."
Bio: Perrenor is a name that strikes fear into the hearts of many. In a conquest that used very little blood, he almost took over all the known world and tossed it into pits of pure black magic. For reasons unknown, he halted his conquest, and withdrew his forces, but left the world in fear of is name.

Linar is his son.

As a young boy, Linar was subjected to round after round after round of lessons of how to be evil, how to cause fear, and he got demonstrations sometimes. His dad was abnormally joyous and cheerful about this. Linar was getting sick. His dad was an excellent swordsman, and trained Linar. Linar learned from one of the imprisonned monks (who..*cough* dissapeared.) how to use a bo staff, and chose it as his weapon of choice. The pyromancy was natural. As was hating his overly cheerful dad. "Come on, family time is a sign of how much I love you!" "And that's why yuo have several necromancers walking around smiling." "They love you too!" "How long I put up with this is a sign of how much i want to die."

His dad starting using him to smooth over relations with the rest of the world. Hence Linar's "job" He's gotten quite used to it by now, and is trying to find something to do with his life. He's not having much success because people usually run and hide, start praising him, or try to kill him.

Extra: Linar is a very very good cook. He's got a bit of a short temper, and he's slowly getting sick of people looking at him and seeing his father.

Outside: Tries to cover his head as much as possible. Wears a large hat (think Yojimbos) and a bandana around his lower face. Wears flagrantly rich looking clothes.
Armour: Full body, war gear.
Weapons: Two swords. Both are regular ol' katanas, except they can seperate and become mini whips (like Ivy's swords).
Equipment: A few flasks, a mirror, and a backpack to carry his extra clothes and stuff.
Quote: "I may be ugly, but you my dear enemy, are cut in half."
Bio: Fenedr was your average immortal Elven. Power, sure, skilled, yes, but also haughty, selfish, and most prominently, vain. One day, he was tearing through some of his enemies, and he came upon the last one, a very ugly tree spirit gone bad. Before Fenedr could slice it, it offered him a trade. It would give up all its earth mancy powers, just for its life and face. Fenedr accepted, then reveled in his new power of the ground. Strangely though, the tree spirit grew pretty in front of Fenedr, then ran off. Fenedr laughed it off, then walked off. As he walked through the nearest town, people shrieked or laughed. Confused, he checked his mirror, but saw nothing wrong. It was only until he felt his face that he realized what was wrong. The tree spirit had taken away his natural beauty. Now, his ears were horrifically long, his eyes had developed ugly bags, his teeth ugly and rotted, and anything else that could go wrong had turned out worse. His new powers were a small comfort, so Fenedr decided to hide (from) his problem, and never shows his face.
Extra: His earth mancy skills arent finely tuned, but he can do some basic moves (namely:earth waves and small shields)

All right. This sounds interesting. Count me in

Name: Johnathan Dark
Nicknames: Black Wolf, Man in Black
Race: Human
Age: 35
Gender: Male
Primary Class: Mercenary
Secondary Class: Monk
Appearance
PHYSICAL: 6ft. tall, 150lbs, medium build, shortish blond hair, blue eyes.

CLOTHING
Normal: Black Pants, Black Shirt,
Battle: Black Pants, Black Shirt, Black Helmet, Black Armor (see armor section)
Formal: Black suitcoat, Black Pants, Black shirt

Armor: Iron breastplate, Iron thigh armor. Iron gauntlets. Iron helmet. Leather Boots. (all armor items are black, of course)
Weapons: Claymore, Kris Knife, bare hands, leather boots (kick in face!)
Equipment: A small cache of money he replenishes via his services as a merc (anywhere from 7000-12000) and a map of Vana'Driel.

Quote: "War is good for business"

Bio: From an early age, Johnathan Dark had wanted to be in the military. He joined up with one of the human armies, but got bounced out of the service for "cowardice" at the age of 24. The charge stemmed from a battle against rouge orgres in which Dark had fled a battle that was obvioulsy lost, as his force was outnumbered 3 to 1. He was mad that even though he had killed most of the orgres his force had gotten, he was still being dismissed for saving his own hide. Following his discharge, Dark went mercenary and began making a name for himself. At the age of 28 he suffered serious injuries at the hands of bandits, and was rescued by a group(?) of Monks at a monestary near where he was ambushed. Johnathan spent 5 years training under them as his way of saying thanks, and he picked up many useful martial arts techniques in that time. He then returned to being a mercenary, and has become one of the best-known, and most-feared mercs of the land.

Extra: Johnathan has a strong moral compass and does not take jobs that he feels are beneath his skills and beneath his morality. He also refuses to take jobs from obviously evil employers.
His preference for backup on missions, plus his affinity towards wearing black has given him his two nicknames.

Name: Dracul

Nickname(s): The Shadowy Death (it's his "business name")

Race: Dark Elf

Age: 200

Gender: Male

Primary Class: Thief

Secondary Class: Black Mage

Appearance: Dracul stands at five feet and seven inches. His hair is long and dark flowing as if it was a piece of silk. He usually keeps his hair in a tight braid that reaches down to the tip of his shoulder blade. His face looks as if it was sculpted to perfection from ashy gray stone. He is quite handsome for being a dark elf however his visage, if visible, is usually burning with an unnatural anger and hatred barely contained. He is usually seen wearing, when he is seen that is, black leather armor over his upper torso and simple leather chaps over a pair of black pants. He usually also has a light cloak with a hood that allows him to hide his visage from curious passerby's. He also wears gloves with small meal studs on the knuckles and sans the index and middle finger as well as the thumb to help him in his "work". He can also be seen at times wearing a black and red ceremonial robe with arcane words upon it. And when he is out on town he usually wears a hooded cloak and clothes that cover as much of his skin as possible but still allows him to move freely. He usually wears dark shades of most colors although he prefers black, dark red, dark purple, and navy blue.

Armour: Black leather armor, Leather gloves, leather boots with steel spike attachments for climbing and fighting, leather chaps.

Weapons: He carries twin mithril daggers (which he stole of course) that have been painted black on his belt. They are called Death and Destruction. He also has Nekodes, which was stolen as well and strapped onto the side of thighs for quick drawing. He also carries a handheld crossbow (which he got as a family heirloom) that the arms collapse and unfold into working position with a push of a button and a quiver of twenty paralyzing poison bolts also on his belt. A black Mithril katana named "Moon's Vengeance" which he wears on his belt.

Equipment: backpack, utility belt (where he keeps his tools), Thief kit (which has a lock pit, a foldable saw, a small vial of acid, a screwdriver with switchable tool tips, a vial of oil, a vial of grease, foldable grappling hook and fifty feet of thin elven rope which he can attach to his crossbow, piano wire), spell components in an air tight pocket on his belt, Flint and steel, small bamboo torches, the herbs necessary to create the paralyzing poison, and a "small" money bag, as well as a map of Vana'Driel and compass.

Quote: "I can steal the greatest treasures yet no treasure is as great as the moon"

Bio: Dracul was born into a family of dark elves that lived in quiet seclusion in the woods but one day not all that long after his birth a group of soldiers came through the forest and came upon them. His family was mistaken for the evil Druchii by the extraordinary stupid and brutal soldiers who wasted no time in systematically killing each member of his family as they found them. His life was spared by one in the group of soldiers whom was actually an old thief. The thief quickly hid him and silenced him by gagging him and later, after the soldiers had finished pillaging and killing any survivors, he came back and took Dracul with him. As Dracul grew older the old thief taught him his trade. It was when Dracul was still a child, merely 40 years old, when the thief passed away but not before the thief gave him his first weapon, a hand held crossbow. Dracul was left alone to fend for himself and he grew up quickly in the streets learning that he was barely tolerated and that he could only survive by the secrets that the old man taught him. After a few years, when he turned 45, a "Thieve's Guild" was formed by the more experienced thieves of the time and he was selected to join. He spent many years practicing with the thieves who taught him how to fight with the daggers and the intricacies of breaking into houses and brewing poisons. After many years of training he considered himself skilled enough to head out on his own, but he is by no means a master of the art. After a few more years of traveling he noticed a sign calling for anyone to join the army regardless of race or gender. He saw it as a blessing and joined. The army seeing that he was a dark elf decided he should be a magic user and sent him first to white mage school. Lets just say that it was a disaster and so they sent him to black mage school where he excelled but his constant hunger for more power and his anger eventually got him kicked out but not before he set ablaze the library with a fire spell after stealing all the books containing the arcane knowledge he sought. He studied these books for a while before deciding he couldn?t make heads or tails of it so he left it anonymously on the doorsteps of the new library. But he was never suspected of this crime so he still worked with the army for many more years killing many foes. It was on one such excursion that he killed a dwarf and stole the twin mithril daggers. It was also during this time that he picked up the skill to fight with the nekodes as well as a katana made of black mithril that was given to him for outstanding service. After many years of service he left the army. At this time he was 150 years of age. For the next fifty years he traveled the world learning as much about magic and so it lead him to the city of Karamar. He resided there learning what he could until he heard one day about a large banquet that would have many influential people with lots of cold hard cash...

Extra: Dracul is a member of a "cult" that worships the moon. Although, he is not a fanatic it is his muse and is the only thing that has any real power to calm his soul. He is also quite the pyromaniac and he enjoys causing his opponents to beg for their own deaths but he is known for his ability to slip into the shadows and stab his opponent in the back.

Ok... I haven't RPed here before. (Haven't really much online anyway.)

So... I guess I get to be the new guy! Time for me to make ye olde character...

Name: Jechir Tudis
Nickname: Jech, Weasel
Race: Human
Age: 17
Gender: M
Primary Class: Thief
Secondary Class: White Mage
Appearance: Jechir is about 5 feet 8 inches tall. He's small and wiry. He has dark eyes, and dark, shoulder length hair. He usually wears faded brown breeches, a dark green tunic, and a dull, red cape. Sometimes, he wears a long-brimmed black hat with red trim, shadowing his face. He wears tall, black leather boots, about knee-high, well-oiled to reduce noise.
Armour: Jechir doesn't wear any armor. He trusts his cape, his instincts, and his wit to dodge attacks, rather than stop them.
Weapons: Jechir usually travels with a dual set of rapiers. When he needs to be less flashy, he always carries a brace of daggers in his cape.
Equipment: Jechir has a miniature mage staff that he always keeps carefully hidden, except for when he needs to use it. His cape has lots of hidden pockets, where he keeps "lifted" goods. He doesn't usually carry much money with him. He also carries a sturdy set of lockpicks, and various other tools (including a small hammer and chisel, a screwdriver, and a prying bar). He keeps a vial of ink, quills, and clean sheets of parchment with him, in case he needs a quick forged note.
Quote: "Swift with the hand, a coin comes my way. Swift with the feet, and I get away."
Bio: Jechir was born to a military family. His father was a great warrior, and his mother, a retired healer. As he was growing up, his mother secretly began teaching him the ways of the white mage. His father and older brothers taught him about fencing. As he was always small, if he wanted to be a soldier, he would not be able to wear heavy armor, so he learned to be fleet of foot. When he was about 9 years old, his father brought dishonor to the family. His father was in a duel with another officer of equal rank, over a piece of land both families claimed. When the other man gracefully accepted defeat, and knelt down with his neck exposed, Jechir's father rather than accept the man's forfeit, struck down with his blade, killing the man. Jechir's house was burned down that night, as the other officer's family got revenge. Jechir managed to get out in time, but his father, mother, and brother didn't escape. When Jechir ran to the ashes of the house, he tried to use what his mother taught him in order to heal his family. Their wounds were too great for him to heal, and they died. Having no home, and no family, Jechir took to the streets. A small band of thieves found the boy, and took him as their own. With his knowledge of dueling, he caught on quickly to the ways of theivery, and he started to climb in rank in the band. He kept his staff hidden at all times, ashamed that he couldn't heal his own family. He didn't tell anyone about it, but would use it in dire emergencies to aid a fellow thief. As he grew older, the band started dissolving, as new bands were forming and the authorities started cracking down on petty theivery. Jechir is now left without a family, yet again. He has a makeshift hideout in the basement of an abandoned warehouse near one of the larger estates in town.

Hope that will do....

You're all lookin' good.

Bite- No Ivy sword.

IHMN- Your idea won't work. Lost Elves cannot do anything at all that has to do with magic.

Jad- Don't start this argument. You won't win. Your ogre will still be stupid, but able to mix potions and toss spirits around (magic) He'll know how to do it, but he won't understand how it happens or why it happens.

Also, anyone who plays Lost Elves in this, you'll have to play along like you know what's going on. You'll be able to tell when.

I finally have my character up ^^;; I would have done it yesterday, but my dad conviscated the computers for a disk clean up... ^^;;;
I hope she's alright.

Name: Aelis Naidel
Race: Human
Age: 18
Gender: Female
Primary Class: Theif
Secondary Class: Mercinary
Appearance: She has short blackish/reddish hair (think Aya, from PE2, just not blone.), a black long scarf thing (because if a characyer doesn't have long enough hair to blow around dramatically, they must have some long article of clothing that would blow in the wind) tied around her neck. A black ribbon-thing wrapped around her right arm. A blueish/purpleish/blackish halter top. A few big belts around her waist (I love putting belts on my characters ^^ ) Short, dark shorts, with dark, knee-high stockings, and boots. (what i mean by 'dark' is it's colored, but a really dark shade of the color.
Armour: Not much. Thieves need to be able to move around quickly, and she relies on that more than any armor.
Weapons: Two daggers
Equipment: Lock picks, and other theiving stuff like that.
Quote: (later, if I think of one... you know, nobody every really uses their quote anyway)
Bio: (not really much to put here. She's just a theif and obsessed with money. She'll grow as the story goes on. ^^ Trust me. I'll add more to the bio later.)
Extra: (later, if needed)

Quick note: character= fixed

Name: Kordan Gleamaxe
Race: Dwarf!
Armor: as said above, a Custom forged breastplate with a few runes of protection inscribed along with his family crest, scale mail skirt, lightly plated greaves, and a silver headband with a few runes of protection inscribed on it.

About the assumption, no, no, and no.

You basically get to toss winds around. And stop winds, and make tornadoes, and send gusts and stuff.

And you can't combine Black Magic with them. Black Magic draws it's power from the winds of magic, and is shaped then formed, then commanded to accomplish a single task. (This stuff won't tire the mage out, you just need to have enough magic around to do the spell.)

Any sort of mancer thing is already there and ready to go, and it'll just do what you ask. Or you can draw the power from inside of you and make your own.

IHateMakingNames

OOH! Taran!

hmmm... Do you need more choices? I could come up with more all night... (I'm not going to, but I could)

Darth SS
02-22-2004, 12:33 AM
Actually...necromancer was never supposed to fall under there. It just happened to have the two words collide.

They're generally a big no-no and very likely to get you to kill yourself. Like, you're manipulating DEATH! WHAT DO YOU THINK IS GOING TO HAPPEN!?

IHateMakingNames

I'm already using Lantis (My Jedi guy... Though that RP is basically dead)

Dalamar sounds familiar to me as well...

But, you seemed most exicted about Taran, so I shall use Taran.

Edit - Damnit... Mancers suck... But all of the other classes suck as well... I'll just be a Aquamancer then... (Assuming I can make ice...)

And your guy burns things while being the son of an insane overlord... How is making some skeletons and blowing up corpses that much worse?

Darth SS
02-22-2004, 12:41 AM
Well, given your track record, you would take certain...um....liberties with necromantic powers. Most likely sucking the life out of someone, then using that energy to make them into a zombie that serves you.

My guy, the whole being the son of an evil overlord is more of a hindrance than a help.

And Aquamancers are just water man.

IHateMakingNames
02-22-2004, 12:44 AM
Zombies suck. Skeletons all the way.

And I'm guessing an Elementancer is a no-no?

If so, then what about a Darkmancer/Shadowmancer?

Darth SS
02-22-2004, 12:45 AM
Shadowmancer would be using like, actual shadows. No freaky magic stuff, just shadows.

By contradiction you could remove all absolute light and freeze the guy instantaneously, but...

Poor Jedi RP... It was so short... But I didn't even know you were using Lantis already. ^^;

Dalamar sounds familiar to me as well...
Where the heck is Dalamar from? I KNOW it sounds familiar, but I can't place it... and it's going to bother me. Did you use Dalamar once?

But, you seemed most exicted about Taran, so I shall use Taran.
Yaay. And just to let you know, there's nothing really serious about the past of Taran, not like Aple-pi, or Rei Dio. So never fear.

I'll go Black Mage now (So I can do cool elemental tricks), with a secondary of Aquamancer.

Darth SS
02-22-2004, 12:54 AM
No, I mean, let's think of shadows.

They're SHADOWS. The absence of light. You can seriously mess around with that if you really want to. Blind people, freeze people, go for the psychological effect, or just use it to make yourself invisible.

The water?

The human body is 90% water! You couldn't control the person, but you could do some serious internal damage with it.

IHateMakingNames
02-22-2004, 12:57 AM
It's easier to kill with water over shadows. Sure you can scare the shit out of someone as a Shadowmancer, but as an Aquamancer you can stop their blood flow, killing them.

Darth SS
02-22-2004, 12:58 AM
Yah, pretty much.
