8-Bit Theatre vs South Park... Hmm... :rolleyes:

Good in theory, but very costly providing the main software used to create South Park episodes is Alias|Wavefront (Maya, I think...), which is the same program that was used to create the special effects seen in The Matrix Trilogy, the Lord of the Rings Trilogy, Final Fantasy - The Spirits Within, stuff like Finding Nemo, Monsters Inc, you know, all the 3D movies.

Though, if you'd like to cheat, there's always Flash. :rolleyes:

I did it once.
I took a recorded sample of one of my sister's friends talking.
Made a character with South Park Studio's Create a Character (http://images.southparkstudios.com/games/create/index.html).
I recreated the character and made a background in SWiSHmax (http://www.swishzone.com).
Then I took heaps of screenshots from Episode 619 of South Park - "Christmas in Iraq" (they were all close-up shots of Cartman) for pictures of the mouth at various stages (eg: The "eeeee" mouth, or the "eeehh" mouth, or the "sss" mouth) and used those to recreate the mouth in SWiSHmax as well.

It took me a good 3 days to "study" the movement of South Park characters, then create and finetune the - uh - 5 second piece... :rolleyes:

The only way it'd work is if the storyline was original. Say they're all on vacatin and a new evil arises or something. AKA just about any Anime movie based in a series that's not completely OAV(or OVA if you're different than i) does this.

I'd watch it if it came out and would help if I was given the opportunity considering the fact that i like animating stuff.. (need to learn flash) I'm not an advanced enough artist to be able to draw series of characters (yet).

I could imagine it being a rather nifty adult cartoon if it wasn't overdone, and preferrably scripted by Brian, Meddross and TLF, but 8 Bit just stands for so much Hollywood is not.

Well, I think I'll bestow my great wisdom upon you all again. An 8-bit theatre movie, while it sounds great conceptually, runs into several flaws.
1. the characters all have a whooping 4 different sprites, which would have to be used over and over and over for any given animation they preform.
2. the voices in the flash player were okay, but they'd need better ones, (black mage sounded like a woman with a sore throat) although that wouldn't be as hard to do.
3. As someone already mentioned, the story would have to change, and handing it over to hollywood would screw it up badly.
4. Brian seems to be busy enough putting up a new comic every few days while playing FFXI, how's he going to make a stupid movie, too?
5. video game movies, including sprite comic movies based on video games, always, always suck.

There's lots of other trite things to, but those will go unsaid. Its not that I'm against a movie, but it will never happen. Ever. So shut up Serve"n"Steal.
