The annual Tsitra city event, Battle of the Bands, is just a few weeks away, and people are preparing themselves mentally and physically for this musical competition. However, the killer robots that have started popping up may pose as a problem.

Can the musicians find a way to stop them in time for the show?

This is not supposed to be a serious RP. I'm just bored, watched a little too much FLCL, got a silly idea for an RP, showed it to my friend, and said friend bothered me about it until I posted it right now.

Basically, various robots will start to pop up (not at the beginning, as usual), and conventional weaponry does not work against them. It turns out that for some reason only musical instruments can defeat them.

Now, let's see how far this gets.

Title: Solo (True name: Ripel)
Age: 17
Eyes: Brown
Hairstyle: Spiky and black.
Skin: Tanned
Outfit: Take any outfit from any Boy Band, add blue sunglasses and a black bandana, and that's basically it.
Instrument: Microphone (Used as a whip)
Genre: Pop-Culture (Dancing and the such)
Bling Bling: Has gold earing, because girls like a guy who wears jewelry. -_-;
BTM: Ripel used to be a part of the group Thumpmastas, but eventually got tired of Thumpman getting the spotlight. Leaving that group, he has gone on to make a name for just himself, and his title reflects his current status.
Scandals: Think of him as the stereotypical badass wannabe, who all the girls fall for, and all the guys laugh at and sometimes envy. Also, he always pops up, never leaving the public's view for more than a day or so.

Hairstyle: Brown hair, but he usually wears his hat, so nobody really knows his hairdo...

Outfit: (This is gonna be long, but bear with me) Purple hat with a gold 'T' on it, blue semi-rectangular shades, baggy blue football jersy with the number '54' on the front and back (wears a similarly baggy white t-shirt underneath), baggy blue cargo pants, black athletic basketball shoes.
Instrument: Uses a boombox in his unique fighting style, his black Escalade called the 'Thumpmobile.'
Genre: Uses pretty much all genres besides Rap and Country, but dance moves are pure breakdancing.
Bling bling: has a large black athletic watch on his left wrist, silver band ring on his right ring finger, sometimes wears a black version of his purple hat. No piercings or tattoos. His Escalade, called the Thumpmobile, and his boombox are enough blingblingto compensate for the lack of jewlery he wears.
BTM: Thumpman first strted out as a freelance DJ/breakdancer, but eventually him and a few of his friends made a band called the Thumpmastas, a highly favored group for the Battle of the Bands, but after a year or two (nobody really kept track) the band broke up, Ripel to pursue a solo career and Dezil...well, he doesn't know what happened to him. Other band members also left, so Thumpman is now a freelance DJ for other bands. He hopes to somehow revive the Thumpmastas in time for the battle, but can he...

On a side note, the Thumpmastas were the champions of the Street Football championship when the band was in its prime a year ago, with a team name the same as the band name. He bulked up from his once-lanky frame to become the best linebacker/running back in the league. His once baggy jersey fits him a bit tighter, so he had to order a bigger one from the local Reebok store.
Scandals: Although he has a band, Thumpman also DJ's for other bands when they need it most, as he's one of the best in the business. He's pretty popular with both guys and girls out there, and thusly several people posing as him have popped up. However, nobody can match his skill and charm, as he proves in various breakdancing and DJing matches he goes to.
Personality: Thumpman may be a man that has it all (money, a cool job, mad skillz at other cool stuff) but unlike what you may assume, he isn't an arrogant showboat that others in the business are. He keeps calm, and can almost always be seen with a smile on his face. Confident, but almost never cocky.

BTM: Firebird is a great guitar player. He is a big fan of Jimi Hendrix http://home.nordnet.fr/~ecarpentier/musique/fire.jpg and can play in a very similar style. He has been known to play so hard his fingers seem to catch fire. He is probably the best guitarist in the battle. He's an ok singer though.

Outfit: He's got a solid red baggy hoody. His pants are a pair of really baggy camo coloured cargoes, and he always wears hiking boots, or rollerblades. He usually has a discman on his hand, and he has the cords hanging loosely as they go to the ear-buds. He usually has his backpack on too.
Instrument: He has a portable sound-board, that comes built in with all manner of CDs and processing programs.
Genre: Techno and Metal. With his flute he can go Celtic on your sorry asses, then remix it to create Celtic ROCK!
Bling bling: His backpack which has his snowboard, the snowboarding boots, sunglasses, extra CDs, and his ultimate weapon...THE P-CANE! Solid black ebony with a stainless steel silver skull at the pommel, and a silver cap at the end. Inside of it is a sword. Oh, and his flute is in there too.
BTM: Though he is extremely young, Matrix has shown great promise already. he is the almightly lord of all techno. Despite his young age, he's shown himself to be extremely intelligent and so focused it's scary. He's an extremely gifted snowboarder, a devil with his flute, and a master of mixing techo. He's entered this contest to prove something to himself.
Scandals: He's cold and distant. He's extremely focused when he needs to be.

BTM: He's the perfect example of a guy who doesn't go to college just to become a popular music star. He's lazy and silent most of the time, but he's good with a bass and can think up a good bass line. People often underestimate him because of his laziness, so he can surprise people. The only reason he's entering the contest is because he wants to show some people how good he is, even though he knows he's most likely going to embarass himself.
Scandals: Although he doesn't talk much, he brings up good points when he needs to. He's VERY lazy(as mentioned above) and likes to sleep alot. He never really likes to do anything but play video games and thinking up bass lines and playing his bass.

Alright, here's the basic set up for Techmasta' D!

Title: Techmasta' D (Real Name: Dezil)

Eyes: Brown, but he almost always has a pair of sunglasses on, even at night or inside...
Hairstyle: Red hair, shoulder length and in a ponytail. He almost always wears a red bandana on his head, so his hair is mostly covered except for the pony tail.

Outfit: Wears a black trenchcoat with a plain black T-Shirt on, and with khaki pants.

Scandals: Extremely reclusive. Is said to be a bit of a mad scientist in his spare time, and he is reclusive because he blew up his last house and almost an acre of empty land he lived on. No one was hurt amazingly, and he payed for any damage caused by the explosion, because he used to live on a huge estate in the city. He rarely leaves to do concerts or make music even anymore, and mostly relies on the huge amounts of money he's made from the songs he's already published. No one knows quite what he does in the middle of no where, but reports range from him being the next mad bomber to a crazed inventor to just your average reclusive hermit.

Alright, now my question is, could Dezil use some sort of sort of Magitek as his weapon of choice? I have other ideas to fill in the rest if you allow it, but I want to know if it is allowed or not.

Also, could he be an Ex-Member of the Thumpmastas, before he went reclusive? Maybe he was convinced to return for the big battle, which would be part of the scandal.

I think Techmasta' D and Matrix are going to duel it out at some point...

Seta the bartender smirked to himself as the figure came through the door. The figure was dressed in tatters; he'd obviously just come out of the ganger-ridden slums that had plagued him for years. Either that or he was just a poor shmuck who couldn't afford decent clothes. Seta's thought was vindicated when he saw the guitar strapped to his back; he's a musician. This town had no room for 'em; it's a tough enough place without people wasting time strumming instruments and singing stupid songs..

"Gimme a whiskey," the unshaven man muttered.

"No."

The stranger looked up slowly, his face blank.

"What do you mean, no?"

"In this town, you gotta prove that you're good for it. We've had so much trouble from the gangs that the weak don't survive well. I haven't gotten a whiskey shipment in 5 weeks, so I'm saving it for those who are willing to fight."

Seta's eyes flickered momentarily as he caught sight of the ruffians moving up behind the stranger; he tried to keep his eyes met with the stranger's to not tip him off. Unfortunately, it didn't work. The stranger spun around, finding himself surrounded by the ruffians wielding knives. "Like I said," Seta commented, reaching under the bar for his club. "...this is a tough town."

Suddenly, the stranger swung his guitar (which read Gibson down the side) off his back. The ruffians paused for a moment, then moved in on the stranger, who stood impassive with his guitar in front of him, silently eyeing the thugs. His hands jumped...to his guitar strings. They moved with lightning speed, playing a solo that conveyed anger and intensity, its high notes wailing threats and its low riffs like a dying man's gurgle. The thugs and Seta all stopped, stunned both by the odd action and by threat inherent in its electric wails. The stranger ended his riff, and returned to his formerly impassive position. One of the thugs broke from his spell; he rushed forward, brandishing his knife. Suddenly, the stranger spun; from the back of his guitar, he drew a sword from a sheath that ran the length of the guitar. Swiftly spin-kicking the thug in the face and letting his momentum carry him by, the stranger stabs with his sword, running the thug through. He turns around, guitar in one hand and bloody sword in the other. The other thugs quickly backed off. He took a piece of paper from a battered pocket and wiped the blade clean of blood before sheathing it. The stranger turned back to the bar, and to the shaking Seta.

"Now, what about that whiskey?"

Seta quickly served him a non-watered down drink.

"S-so...what's your name, stranger?" he asks.

"Priest. Judas Priest. And that...was Rock and Roll."

BTM: A member of Geek Factz and Pron for awhile, Rockzorz eventually got bored and now drums for any band that wants him. He’s not really Telekinetic, but he had his cymbals tuned to his brainwaves.

Yo. As far as weapons go, as long as Ecurt ays it's okay, it's cool with me (IMHO).

And on Thumpman's fighting style: the boombox is just there for his musical instrument, and to get him 'in the groove.' I actally envisioned his fighting to be a mix between breakdancing and improv fighting (using whatever's handy, like a lead pipe or trashcan lid. Think Jackie Chan, less kung-fu, more style).

I can already see some possible rivalries developing....this should make things interesting...

BTM: Abysmal lives alone in his middle of the road apartment building. His prized posession is his laptop, on which he mixes, creates, and edits all types of music, not to mention DJ many a web radion station.
Years of experience using computers has made him somewhat of an expert in the field. Since he doesn't have the money to buy a piano and isn't terribly fond of conventional electric keyboards, Abysmal created a program to use his Laptop's keyboard to easily perform (well, at least for him...) a vast array of music. The bass guitar has been in his posession for awhile and he began to seriously start to play it about 3 years ago.
Currently, Abysmal drifts between different entry-level bands and clubs playing the Bass Guitar or using his Laptop to DJ. He generally hangs out around coffee shops during the day and the clubs and bars during the night. He's built up a small amount of fame from mostly local and internet audiences, but nothing noteworthy in the big picture.
Scandals: There isn't much outside the general info provided/known, except for the fact that he knows how to play the accordion and has one somewhere in his apartment.
Personality: Abysmal doesn't speak much to anyone, and when he does, his deep voice usually carries a snide comment and/or something he sees as constructive. As for other genres of music, he throuroughly enjoys all but rap and most post-1997 music. He's kind of an exestentialist, outwardly devoid of emotion or interest when not around his music.

EDIT: His Bass Guitar will be used as his weapon.

Toaster-I like that profile. The character looks pretty cool, and I like the fact that you went original with the DJ idea and have Abysmal use a laptop (Thumpman, the other DJ, uses turntables, etc.).

The only problem I can see is that you say he's an albino, and has blue eyes...I always though albinos had red eyes. However, he could be wearing contacts, eye surgery, etc. You might want to mention that...but I could be wrong, of course. (I like the blue. Doesn't look as menacing as the red :D )

About the eyes: I did a quick bit of research on the internet about human albinos. It's just a myth that all albinos have red eyes. However, the lack of pigment throughout the body can involve the eyes and the iris can be a faded color of what it'd normally be, not to mention that the eyes easily reflect light off the back of the retina, and sometimes cause it to look red because of that. I'll fix the char profile so that they're light blue.

Boombox-Yes, I will count those as instruments. Basically anything that is specifically purpose is with music making/playing. Able to transform into weapons (which are of course for combat) lessens the strength when faced against the robots.

Insturment: Eight string bass (yes they exist and the sound is awesome!) w/ built in ampage (something I made up) The appearence is akin to a thunderbird but with a series of silver streaks across it.
Genre: Heavy Metal & Alternative Rock w/ a dash of classical and techno mixed in
Bling Bling: (despises nearly all pop, hip hop, and rap and as such goes out of the way to avoid the lingo) His multitudes of silver relics, A guitar case that is designed to sling over the back and has the viasge of a completely white raven emblazoned on either side of the case, a pair of black steel kama's which are hidden somewhere within the folds of his trenchcoat (he's paranoid), and a hoverboard (they're working on prototypes now and safety is the major issue that they're figuring out so I'm not THAT far ahead of the times.)

BTM: Mike grew up as a social outcast. He was never very good at much, in school he was a mediocre student and despite his athletic build he never stayed with anything long enough to become really good at it.... That is until he found the bass. It was as if he had been preordained to play this insturment and combined with his singing ability and talent in writing he quickly began searching for a band so that he could start spreading his ideas and songs to the world. Currently however he is stuck as a solo artist and hopes to gain members for a band before the battle if at all possible. He's prepared to go on solo though if all else fails.
Scandals: He breifly disappeared into the underbelly of the crime world in order to pay for food, rent, etc. He did a few random robberies which swiftly earned him enemies. Currently he is running from a gang which he upset, this plays a large part in his dislike of gangsters.
Personality: Sort of a dark and brooding type that is constantly in contemplation. He believe in the blending of religions and such, seeing as they all are derived from the same central ideas. He doesn't open up as easily as some but is a steadfast friend to those that earn his trust.

BTM: Haruhara Haruko is an alien... or at least that's what she claims. No one is really sure, just like no one is really sure where she comes from or where she got her guitar. All anyone really knows is that she is not a normal girl, and moreover that she's VERY selfish.. For her part, she came to the contest because her shackle told her that the pirate king, Atmosk, might just make an appearance.

Hairstyle: Red hair, shoulder length and in a ponytail. He almost always wears a red bandana on his head, so his hair is mostly covered excpet for the pony tail.
Skin: Light skin
Outfit: Wears a black trenchcoat with a plain balck T-Shirt on, and with khaki pants.
Instrument: Electric Keyboard. He usually wears it on a strap on his back, and the strap is set just right so he can whip the keyboard around and play it while standing or moving.
Genre: Techno and Remixed other songs into Techno Stlye. Also skilled in Old Age and New Age Rock.
Bling bling: Other then his clothes, and back up pairs of glasses, he doesn't have much. Oh, except his vehicles, a red Lambourghini, and a custom built Magitek Soundmasta' MK-2 (Don't ask what happened to the MK-1...).

BTM: He rose to the top quickly as one of the Thumpmastas', and became a famous figure from nowhere. He proved to be a master a mixing and remixing new techno songs and beats, hence the nickname he picked up. He was a great addition to the group, and stayed loyal to them, until the explosion at his mansion. After that, he became more and more reclusive, actually showing up at recordings less and less, until soon the only thing he ever did was send them songs he made over the internet and wouldn't leave his home at all. He is still a fairly famous figure, although now it is less for his role as being a sort of distant member of the Thumpmastas', and more for being an eccentric genius. He was once hailed as the Master of all Techno, but his self banishment from society has made him lose his title. Rumors are flying however that the latest battle of the bands is so huge, even Dezil will make an appearance again, out to reclaim the title of Master of all Techno, and perhaps help the Thumpmastas' win the battle...

Scandals: Extremely reclusive. Is said to be a bit of a mad scientist in his spare time, and he is reclusive because he blew up his last house and almost an acre of empty land he lived on. No one was hurt amazingly, and he payed for any damage caused by the explosion, because he used to live on a huge estate in the city. He rarely leaves to do concerts or make music even anymore, and mostly relies on the huge amounts of money he's made from the songs he's already published. No one knows quite what he does in the middle of no where, but reports range from him being the next mad bomber to a crazed inventor to just your average reclusive hermit.

as far as i know, accordians are reeded instruments that have a bellows to produce the airflow for whatever and i was kind of thinking we'd have Flogging Molly as an influence cause they have an accordian player in their midst. however, the accordain sounds could go through a mic with somekind of sound effects.

Which reminds me, are we going to have say band team up attacks, so that individually we have our own "Overdrives" (For me it's "Techmasta' Remix!") but as a band group we might do a team super overdrive, like say the Thumpmasta's could do, "Big Head Thumpmasta's Remix Omega!", or something equally grandoise and long winded (I can go on all day, just combine Techmasta' D's ultimate with Thumpman's ultimate (According to the omake I did), and their attack would almost be a small paragraph sentance long...)

well, the accordian that my dad got was a rather old one and i don't think that it had that kind of stuff so that's why i didn't really know if there were accordians that had that kind of stuff.

And Stuper, It's understandible, I'm not sure when amplifying accordions caught on...but still, you could probably go as far as to say you own one of the really nice electric ones that have all the functions of a nice keyboard, not to mention the ability to adjust the tone in any way you see fit. (they cost about $10,000 and up ...so if your guy's got the $$$, you could go there) so you could pull off that 'techno overdrive polka' reeeeaaalllyy easy :D
(if you go with a standard accordion, just don't leave it in the sun...accordion reeds are held together with wax)

At the risk of sounding too indecisive, I am briefly pondering the idea of playing a drummer. After all, nobody seems to have one...

Title: Johnny Katsumoto (AKA GDK - Great Drummer Katsumoto)

Age: 25

Eyes: Blue, but wears a pair of Ray-Bans.

Hairstyle: Short blonde hair, wears a wide-brimmed black leather hat.

Skin: Somewhat tanned.

Outfit: Wears a big black hat with a skull and crossbones pin on the band. Dresses in a pair of black leather pants with an oversized belt, as well as a long black trenchcoat. Has a pair of fingerless gloves on his hands. For a

Instrument: His staff, which breaks apart into multiple drumsticks for all occasions. His drums and instruments are stored in his SUV for rapid transport.

Genre: Katsumoto-style percussion arts, focusing on drum kits, but he can play bells and chimes as well as the flute. He sings too, but he prefers grooving to the righteous beats.
Bling bling: Not much. Has a gold ring on his little finger with "Shara" carved onto it. His staff can do many things, such as serve as a torchlight, flute, etc.

BTM:Johnny Katsumoto is the last of his tribe. After his family was wiped out by the Oboe (Oh-bo-Ay) ninja clan, his uncle Mifune took him away to the Blessed Isle, where he learned the ancient arts of the Katsumoto family. Johnny was a fast learner and rapidly mastered the skills of his family. Mifune died from aheart attack when Johnny was 15, and as a result he set out to wander the world, living out of his SUV as a freelance performer. He fell in with some pirates, but quickly rose to leadership thanks to his incredible percussion techniques. Hearing of the Battle of the Bands in Tsitra, Johnny decided to enter the competition. However, due to a drunken brawl in a port of call, the crew members he intended to bring along were locked up, and it's not likely that they'll be released anytime soon. Thus, Johnny's going to Tsitra alone, hoping to meet up with a group that requires a drummer.

Scandals: Enjoys playing stuff by Linkin Park ( the drum work is a pretty good warm-up). Would like a chance to work closely with bassists and turntablists, but he's not choosy about who he'll hang with.

(It's really up to Ecurt which of the three he wants. I don't particularly care either way...)

Rammstein is a german heavy metal band. They've got very haunting stuff, lots of strings and female vocals. It's really beautiful in a ... creepy evil way. Spoken prose is a lot of it. Earlier on they had a techno streak to.

I'd reccomend Mein Herz Brennt, Sonne, or Seemann. Those are some of my favorite songs by them.
