Big Bang Beat is a recently released doujin fighter for the PC. It takes elements from Guilty Gear and Hokuto no Ken, with characters being able to double jump, air dash, boost and all sorts of crazy stuff. The characters are a mixed bunch of standard fighters and weird types. Agito throws knives, and has a special which lets him throw all previously thrown knives at one. Kunagi slashes people with a scarf thing and teleports everywhere. Ren attacks with a wooden sword and throws explosive trash at the other guy. Heita goes from shitty to awesome if you get in 4 taunts. And there's a bunch of other characters too.

Gameplay wise you use 6 buttons. 3 of those are for light, medium and fierce attacks and the other three boost, charge and taunt. Boosting costs one super bar (called a Boost Bar) and can cancel any attacks. It's used for making normally impossible combos possible. For example, Rouga's 214C knocks people back. Normally you couldn't combo off of this, but if you boost you can reach the other guy in time to continue your combo. Boosting can also be used to retreat quickly or cancel special and super moves.

As for charging, this is used to charge up your special bar, which allows you to do normal special moves. If the bar runs out, your moves will stop working, and you gotta either wait for it to charge or charge it yourself, either by holding the P-Charge button or expending a Boost bar to instantly charge it.

Taunting gives an effect onto your character, and can only be done 3 times a match with the exception of Heita. Rouga's taunt increases his power, Senna's taunt heals her, Sanzou's taunt increases his defense etc. Heita however, can taunt more than that. Get in 4 taunts and he'll go all SSJ and become awesome. And gain a ridiculous super move which takes his whole life bar away.

Interested? Awesome!

As far as the roster goes, I tend to favor Burai the most, due to general Boxing awesomeness and parrying ability.

The worst thing about the game is lack of Netplay. That was a real disappointment.

I like Burai too. His dash is pretty cool and he only uses two buttons to attack, making combos slightly easier due to not having to use all 3 attack buttons. I could never time his parry right. Need to practice. But he's the first fighting game boxer I actually like playing as.

I like using Rouga too, because he's easy to play on a keyboard. Got a few good combos going with him, and none are hard to do on a keyboard. Also his 214C (QCB+C) knocks people away enough to charge up his special meter without having to use a boost bar, or I can get an Enhance off.

And SSJ Heita is brilliant. Manly enough to have a ridiculous special which takes off his whole life bar.

I think a Netplay patch will be in the works soon, if this game takes off. I hope it does because I'm enjoying it so far. It is an early version after all.
