I find this story immensely amusing.
Especially the prompt denial from the White House, trying to save face in one place that still welcomes Bush.
You can't trust those commies though, even ex-ones.
Seriously if the US president isn't safe from common thieves what hope do the rest of us have?

Perhaps they could have bombed albania until the watch was returned or a replacement found?

ha ha ha ha ha ha

Oh my. Comments.

What's really amusing, to me, are the contradicting claims of how it was not stolen, coming from the White House, Albania, and news sources. Did he put it in his pocket? Give it to a secret service man? Drop it on the ground? You'd think the "no, it wasn't stolen" folks wouldn't have at least three differing stories.

All that aside, I managed to find the alternate view that I was looking for. Check this video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PsTqEO6MHCU&eurl=http%3A%2F%2Fwww%2Eporoj%2Ecom%2Findex%2Ephp% 3Foption%3Dcom%5Fcontent%26task%3Dview%26id%3D110% 26Itemid%3D1) to see that it's very likely that he merely took the watch off, realizing how easy it could be stolen or damaged. I guess he's not always stupid.

Yeah, as amusing as it would be to have the president pickpocketed, it seems that he just put it in his pocket. I don't think anyone is stupid enough to try and pickpocket the president.

I'm not sure about that. I mean, from the sheer volume of people there, some opportunistic individual could have quickly realized that "I can take his watch, and there's just so many people around that there's no way I could be caught." What could the authorities have done, anyway? Detained the entire crowd and tried to shake them down?

In that video you can visibly see the watch being stolen. Someone is reaching out to him, and as Bush lowers his arms, their hand is running along his left arm. They let go, and you see a glint of metal. Actually, a bunch of people are just touching his left arm. It seems a lot of them wanted his watch.

Buy Bush a Chinchilla, they bathe in the dust of liberty, no commie would ever go near the dust of liberty.

well as I see it either
A) It was stolen, in which case, eh these things happen
B) He put it somewhere, which means he didn't trust them to not steal it. Which isn't that bad

Keep in mind the reason I support B is because I dont trust humans and would always assume someone might steal my stuff.

But really, if he was smart enough to put it away, why wasn't he smart enough to just not wear it.
