The Quest for the Final Summoning, Ch. 4

Chapter 4: "The Ferry to Kilika"

Before long, the group had gotten onto the Boat and it had departed, taking off for Kilika. It would be awhile before they got there, so the others were encouraged to rest while they could.
Instead of staying below deck and sleeping like she was encouraged to do, she went to the higher part of the deck and sat down, watching the water go by.

(OOC: There's white mages on board for those of you who got hurt.)

Rei was leaning against the rail of the boat near Raine.

[Forever Zero]

Dezil was being healed by a white mage below deck, who was healing his shoulder wound that had gotten worse and worse.From all the dust and grit of battle, the bandage had fallen off, so the wound was full of sand and ohter bits of debris, and pulling off those Overdrives or even continueing to fight hadn't been to good for the wound and had made it worse overall, so the white mage was chastising him for taking so poor care of it. He had tried to argue at first, but had eventually given up and let her continue here healing.

[Squishy Cheeks]

Mitsu was covered in bandages some had red spots from his bleeding. He was using his hammer as a crutch. "How are you holding up, kid?" He asked Raine.

[Truce]

Ripel plopped down beside Raine. "Hi there," he said in an cheery voice. "How are you doing? I'm pretty sure that was your first battle against a spawn of Sin, not to mention the first time you've been held helplessly captive, am I right? I don't know how you feel...just know that this was nothing what lies ahead.

"I sound sorta like a broken sphere, don't I? I just want you to know while I do disagree with some of your decisions that you'd make them proud.

"Anyway, Kilika's your home, right? Care to recommend any bars?"

OOC: Ripel would have no idea where Raine is from, unless he has been stalking her for a long time...

[Forever Zero]

Dezil had noticed Ripel wandering around and still didn't like him, so he ordered the white mage to hurry up the healing. She had given him an arm wrap that held down a bandage soaked in potion, and that would most likely heal it over night she said as long as he didn't strain it. He half listned to her, then left as soon as possible to be back on deck. He noticed Raine with some of her guardians and Ripel, so he figured they knew what they were doing and he held back, close enough to hear what was going on, but not close enough to be noticed.

Raine looked up at Mitsu, "I'm doing alright. I'm a little tired, but I'll be fine." Then she turned to Ripel, "Yeah, Kilika's where my mother lives. We're gonna visit her at least once before we head off again." She sighed and looked back out at the ocean, "I never expected getting kidnapped or held hostage would be part of my pilrimage."

[Biran]

OOC: Grr.... I hate it when I miss important stuff... Also, anyone have any ideas of how my character could still be involved with all this? I didn't quite get around to having my character ask to be a guardian.

[Truce]

ooc-IHMN, you are close. To tell you the truth, yesterday was when he first met her, but...well, you'll find out. *Kefka laugh*

"True...true, most Summoners never see it coming. I'd hate to admit it, but that guy earlier was right, those dangers accompany those of Sin and the fiends.

"Still. I can see you're strong enough to handle them. I'm not so sure about some of your guardians however..." He grinned, knowing full well he was speaking awfully loud.

just be on the boat I'm sure you can help when we fight an ochu in kilika.

OOC: I'm almost positive your character is just one big contradicition of FFX...

OOC: Most likely... that will just make it all the better when our bad feelings about him are confirmed and we all kill him...

OOC: No, Ecurt's guy.

Rei moved closer to Raine, leaning against the closest thing next to her.

[Forever Zero]

OOC: No, Ecurt's character, Ripel.

[Biran]

OOC: Thanx, Jad.

Brian sighed. It was nice to feel the cool ocean breeze against his cheeks. He still couldn't believe he was finally of Besaid. His mother had seen that he didn't enjoy life on the island much, and so she sent off on a ride to Kilika.

[Squishy Cheeks]

Mitsu shook Rei off his hammer.

Rei then moved the nearest piece of the ship.

OOC: Stupid Jad...

[Squishy Cheeks]

ooc: You set yourself up for that. lol

Raine was feeling a little claustrophobic, noticing her guardians sitting rather close to her, "You guys don't really need to worry that much about me. We're just on an innocent little boat. What's the worst that could happen?"

[Truce]

ooc-Sadly, that it is almost assured that he [Ripel] will die. At least he doesn't have an undying demon army to call upon, while he himself is immortal. Of course, that must mean he must have something up his sleeve.

ooc-Oh yes...you guys will enjoy killing him after what all he does. IHMN will also probably enjoy killing Mitsu if he gets the chance, I might add.

[Forever Zero]

OOC: AHHHH! That's what she said last time before the sinspawn appeared...

[Biran]

OOC: "What's the worst that could happen?" Whenever anyone asks that, something bad will always happen. I think it's one of Murphy's laws.

"A sinspawn could attack the bottom of the ship, making a hole in it, sinking it." Rei thought outloud. "Or messed up summoner here could summon a black aeon that goes insane."

[Forever Zero]

OOC: ... Or Sin could show up, smashing us all into oblivion. Hey, what's that in the distance...

[Squishy Cheeks]

"Or sin himself attacks."

[Forever Zero]

OOC: ... Or the world could explode...

[CelesJessa]

"Alright alright." Raine laughed, "But will it make that much difference in my protection if you aren't at least an arm's length away from me rather than practically sitting on my lap?" She joked, smiling.

"Depends on how close the danger is." Rei mentioned.

OOC: What are you sitting on exactly? A bench in the middle of the deck (Since Ripel sat down next to her, it must not be a chair..), the deck itself, a bench on the side of something?

[Forever Zero]

OOC: Sounds like a bench attached to the side of the ship to me.

OOC: remember where Wakka and Lulu were talking on the way to Luca? This boat has one of those upper places too, That's where Raine is sitting on her knees, on the ground, leaning against the rail.

"Fine fine. I know you guys want to protect me, but what worse could happen than just did on the beach, and we handled it fairly well..."

[Truce]

He laid on his back, chuckling. "You know, she is right. I mean, who could possibly pose a big enough threat to Raine that is also close enough to her that you couldn't react?"

He knew that he was closer to Raine than anyone else was, and knew that he wasn't liked all that much, or trusted. Still, it was fun annoying them. "Anyway, Lady Raine, would you like to come with me down to one of he lower decks? I wish to show you something, and I assure you and your guardians that you will be safe. Like you said, what could -possibly- happen?"

OOC: He's not really the closest, since Mistu is right infront of her and Rei is on her other side.

[Tenjin Matsukaru]

OOC: STUPID SCHOOL MAKING ME MISS ALL THE FUN!!!! Ok can I get yet another recap?

Tenjin-basically all the hero dudes are on the boat to Kilika (right?) to get another summon-thingie. All I know is that Kilika is a cool namefor a town, and sumon probably isn't Bahamut.

Drake was perched on the roof above his party, closely eying the sea (and Ripel) for any possible danger. If anything happens down there, I should be able to take it out without getting anyone else hurt first. And I still don't like Ripel...he's too much of a smoothtalker to be natural...

After hearing Ripel's comment on bringing Raine alone to another deck, Drake thought of a few reasons why: Either he's working with that Al-Bhed swordsman...nah, that'd be strange, an Al Bhed and a summoner workin' together to capture another summoner...Perhaps this strange man has a crush on Raine? I mean, he goes around calling her 'Lady Raine' and all when she doesn't even like the formalities that much...yeah, that's the most reasonable explanation.

He jumped from his spot on the roof down to the deck that everyone else was on, surprising most of them. "Look, if you have business with Raine, that's fine, but I think I speak for all the guardians when I say I don't trust you, Ripel." He said as he pointed his halberd at him. He put the weapon back in it's sheath on his back, and continued. "Say whatever you'd like, but I don't think we can really allow you alone with the woman we're supposed to protect."

With that Al-Bhed swordsman around, we should all be on our guar...besides, all that guy could do is talk him to death, like this: "My, mister, you're so shiny! Lady Raine loves shiny, too! Take me with you!" Augh...

[Biran]

OOC: Yep, no Bahamut. You get Ifrit in Kilika.

Brian watched as clouds lazily flew by. It was nice to be able to relax and enjoy. To Kilika. He had always heard so much about it; it was nice to finally go there.

[Truce]

ooc-Well...Ripel's close to Raine. That's all that matters.

Ripel laughed on the inside, knowing full well he was annoying these people.. "Why ever would you not trust me? I mean, I did help you back there, and I was the one you of the Sinspawn, afterall. It hurts my feelings to think that you don't trust me after how I've helped.

"Besides, I was asking Lady Raine, so there."

[Squishy Cheeks]

ooc: Can Drake fly? cause we're on the upper deck of a ship the only thing above us is sky. and some sail cloth.

"You can show her another time. Lady raine needs her rest." Mitsu said. <I don't like this guy. Also I don't feel like doing crowd control right now. The passengers will all want to shakehands and wish Raine well and I'd rather not have to deal with all the false sentimentality right now.

[Tenjin Matsukaru]

Argoth was standing on the bow, his gauntlets still dripping with Sinspawn Ichor. No doubt Matham would be going postal as to why his Bartender ran off during the peak hour of the day. Argoth couldn't care. It was now evident that he had purpose to fulfill. Now if he could find the courage to ask the summoner if she needed another guardian then his purpose would be set in stone.

[Bite the Wax Tadpole]

Zita dumped the burned and slashed carcass into the water and watched it drift away. After Argoth had cut open the thing, its second head had shown up, but by then Zita had cleared the jam and toasted the thing. He took out his telescope and looked across the sea. His thoughts turned to Bikanel, and he sighed. He wished for the standard, a random Al Bhed scavenge gone off course and to his feet, but that probably wouldn’t happen. He did spot the standard ship coming in from Besaid, and couldn’t care less for its summoner cargo. He went back to the bar.

[Tenjin Matsukaru]

Argoth stepped off the boat and entered the bar. With uncanny timing Matham stepped out of nowhere and gave Argoth a royal earbashing "OK SO WHERE THE HELL HAVE YOU BEEN?! I HAD TO SERVE DRINKS FOR THE LAST HOUR!! YOU STUPID LUG I SWEAR THI.." Argoth tapped him on the shoulder "ah everyone's staring...and while they are" Argoth put a hand on Matham's face and gave him a good shove sending him sliding across the floor "Idiot" Argoth calmly wandered behind the bar as Matham stood up and wiped the goo off his face "what the hell is this?" Argoth washed his gauntlets off "that would be Sinspawn blood now then who's thirsty?"

[Technal]

Zeke sat down on the deck of the ship and fiddled with a blitzball in his hands. He couldn't wait to get to Kilika he had heard about its great temple and he was extremely excited to see it. He tossed the ball around and finally threw it up high and jumped uo he spun around and kicked it straght down at the deck. The ball hit hard and bounced back up high than before. It became a little dot in the sky and fell a ways back in the water. Zeke hung his head and sighed it was a very long journey for him and he didn't like being on water too much either.

[CelesJessa]

Raine glanced at Ripel and gave him a look, "Excuse me for asked Sir Ripel, but what is it you want to show me?" She was willing to go and see for herself, but after the happenings on the beach, she knew she'd better stay close to her Guardians for awhile, not that they would let her out of their sight anyway.

(OOC: (random thought) only 15% more to go in FFX-2 until I get the perfect ending.... ^^ (I took a break from FFX-2 to play FFX again and now I'm fighting a big battle in Zanarkind, (yep, I'm already in Zanarkind at the end after only playing for about a week or less. ^^ heh) so I decided to get back into my 100% FFX-2 game. ^^

[Forever Zero]

OOC: Oh yeah? Well I'm at the calm lands and I've been playing on and off for over a year! Top that for slowness! Oh, wait, you meant you did yours fast, nevermind...

OOC: And you know that even is she agreed to Ripel's request for some bizarre reason, the rest of us will keep an eye on her somehow...

[Biran]

Ahh... The ocean breeze... Brian looked around and noticed Raine and her guardians. He walked over and said, "Almost forgot you guys were on this boat. So, how's everything going?"

[Truce]

Ripel grinned, jumping to his feet. "Trust me Lady Raine, you'll love it. This boat has a bunch of chocobo that are causing it to move, and because we're nearing the of this boat ride I'm sure we'll probably get to play with a few of them! Come on, we probably have half an hour, if that.

"Chocobo are cool!"

[CelesJessa]

Raine jumped to her feet as well, "Chocobos?" She said excitedly. Not many chocobos were on Kilika island, since it was such a small island, so Raine didn't get to play with Chocobos that often.

[IHateMakingNames]

"They won't let you 'play' with the Chocobos, seeing that if they did the boat would stop running. And it would be unfair to only play with a couple, making the rest have to work even harder."

[CelesJessa]

Raine sighed, "I guess you're right. But..." She sighed again, glancing out at the water, "I hope there will be another chocobo stable somewhere before we get to Zanarkind." She closed her eyes for a second, then her expression changed as she opened her eyes and smiled a little, "But if not... oh well. I like watching the ocean." She said as she leaned against the railing, staring out at the horizon.

(OOC: just out of curiousity, does anyone know off-hand if there's any jobs or anything we don't have in the group yet?)

OOC: Samurai, Berserker, Gun Mage, Thief, Trainer, Mascot...

OOC: I was going to be a Gun Mage (But no blue magic), but that's what I thought Ecurt was... If I could now, I would switch to that (Replace blue magic with status alignments...)

[Truce]

Ripel grinned. "You haven't been below deck, have you? Unless these people are stupid they've bound to have extra chocobos on board, afterall if the chocobo running got sick or something? Then you'd be in trouble.

"Also, on long journeys they have the chocobo work shifts, since chocobos do get tired. It's not like they can run forever, afterall, and it's certaintly not easy for even groups of chocobos to move a boat this size moving at this speed. What is this, a sphere game? Nope, such things just don't happen in real life. So there.

"Anyway, there are almost always extra chocobos onboard. I love visiting them when I'm on the boats, and I know they love it too since most people don't even bother to go down visiting them, because they're mean like that.

"So, shall we go Lady Raine? We don't have much time left."

OOC: Wasn't there only one Chocobo in the FFX boat?

[Squishy Cheeks]

"I'm coming along as an escort. Cause frankly I don't trust you."

[Truce]

ooc-...wouldn't that be a bit stupid? One chocobo moving a big old boat, at a relatively fast speed? Especially not getting tired? And then, what if that chocobo got sick? Tsk, tsk.

"The more the merrier," he replied in his cheery voice. "The chocobo will love having another person to play with."

OOC: Well, it was in the game. Chocobos must be in very good shape, and immune to sicknesses I guess...

(OOC: in the game there were at least two running that you could see in the screen's point of veiw.)

Raine smiled, "Well, shall we go see the chocobos then?" She said, excited to get to see a chocobo.

"How about this. We, Raine, Mistsu and I, will go down and see if we can play with the chocoboes. If we can, Mistsu will came up and tell you Ripel."

[Bite the Wax Tadpole]

OOC: You guys are taking way too long to have a simple convo...

[Squishy Cheeks]

"Oh sure make the guy who got the crap kicked out of him by an Al Bhed psycho come up. You didn't even get a scratch in that fight."

[Truce]

Ripel pouted and cross his arms. "Hey! It was my idea in the first place. If anything, you should be the one to stay here, if anyone should. Besides, have I done anything to considered a threat?"

[IHateMakingNames]

"Yes. Would you like me to list why?" Rei asked Ripel, ready to give a list.

[CelesJessa]

Raine rolled her eyes, "None of us are going to get to see the chocobos if you guys are just going to argue about who should go." She said simply, "Well, you guys can stay here and argue. I'm going to go see the chocobos." She turned and headed down the stairs on her own.

[Truce]

He nodded, preparing to make a rebuke for any point made. "In fact, I would like you to."

ooc-Actually, because they wasted so much time at the end of this argument they'll probably be at dock.

[Squishy Cheeks]

Mitsu limped after Raine. His limping was mainly because his bandages were to tight.

Rei was about to say his list, but then Raine left. Rei abonded the list for now and followed her.

OOC: If Ripel tries to pass Rei, Rei will not let him.

[Bite the Wax Tadpole]

Zita watched the boat dock and the standard people mill out. Nobody really looked Summoner-like, althought there were a few Guardian lookin people.

Zita strolled up to the captain.

"Soo...do you make any trips to say...Bikanel?"

"Uhh...nope, can't say we do. Just travel back and forth between Besaid and Kilika. Just like my grandpa Liki, and his pa, and his pa..." The captain said.

"Cdibet relg..." Zita mumbled as he walked away from the single-minded captain. He needed another drink he couldnt pay for.

OOC: For future reference, you really don't have the authority to do something like docking a boat (Only Celes is allowed to really)

And it would have only been around a minute of 'wasted' time...

OOC: Well, I don't know if the boat dock is official sooo...

Dezil followed the other Guardians down into the ship.

[Bite the Wax Tadpole]

OOC: Otay, but it doesnt really matter, and now you can play with the chocobos no matter what

[Truce]

ooc-I personally don't care. Besides, with Ripel not there (since he doesn't feel like hurting Rei, since Raine would sort of be pissed at him for that), what will happen down below deck anyway?

[Biran]

Brian was interested in seeing some chocobos, too. He had only seen one, and that was when some strange traveller was in town. He followed everyone else.

[Bite the Wax Tadpole]

OOC: That is one packed chocobo room...and I'm guessing that if Ripel wanted to have a private convo thats pretty much screwed...

[Truce]

ooc-Exactly. The thing I had planned simply won't happen now, unless Ripel somehow passes Rei. And he's not about to overpower Rei, or sneak by without being noticed at all. Not now anyway, it's too early.

ooc-I suppose there could be some conversations going on, but for now my character is done there. I'll just wait to see what Celes decides on.

[Forever Zero]

OOC: Well basically, most of the guardians don't like Ripel and are highly suspicious of him, so chances of him ever having a private conversation with Raine are next to nil.

[IHateMakingNames]

OOC: Rei followed Raine, but he isn't letting Ripel get any closer then he is. Ripel could yell or something...

[Bite the Wax Tadpole]

OOC: Cuz that makes for a private convo...just get off the ship and talk to her when everybody goes to sleep...

OOC: Chances of that are very slim you realize...

[Bite the Wax Tadpole]

OOC: It happens all the time...and if you guys keep doing the super-overprotective Guardian thing, not much story-wise is gunna happen...

OOC: Yes it will. Just because there are protective guardians doesn't mean nothing can happen to her.

[Bite the Wax Tadpole]

OOC: So theres always going to be someone around her? What about one-to-one convos? Are you just gunna post that your stalker guy is waiting in a tree overhearing it?

OOC: Maybe. Usually that is what guardians do, always be around their summoners. Yuna was never alone I think, yet she got captured did she not?

[Bite the Wax Tadpole]

OOC: She was alone with Tidus in the Moonflow (I believe she couldnt sleep)...

OOC: ... How are you alone, but with someone? Who was a guardian none the less.

[Bite the Wax Tadpole]

OOC: One-on-One alone, like Ripel wants to be with Raine...except, I'm pretty sure Ripel's doesnt involve the Tidus and Yuna thing...

[Squishy Cheeks]

again that's noot going to happen. The only time Yuna was alone was when her gaurdians got careless.

[Truce]

ooc-I'm ending this argument now. Yuna was alone several times when it could be considered safe (which, for some reason, Raine isn't when Ripel is around), and the story can progress even if Raine has everyone of her guardians practically rubbing up against her.

ooc-Also, next post better be IC. Take this argument to Discussion if you do wish to continue it.

ooc-Oh, and if you need an example of Yuna being alone, go to Mi'hen Highroad. She was alone until Tidus walked up to her. Another example would be Yuna on the boat, she was given space by her guardians there (this time Ripel is here, who the guardians consider a threat despite him not doing anything to harm any of them, so they don't want to leave Raine alone in this scenario).

ooc: look closely either Kimarhi or Auron are always with in ten feet of her with the exception of when she's talking to the fayth, but then she's with the fayth.

[Biran]

'Chocobo... chocobo... Brian tried to remember what they looked like. 'I... think it was a bird... Was it green? No, it was... He couldn't remember anything other than that it was a bird.

OOC: Ya, I know that was pointless, but like Ecurt said, we need to get a few more IC posts in.

OOC: Kimarhi apparently is hidden some times to. When Tidus first showed up, Kimarhi attacked him from no where.

(OOC: He said to drop it ...)

Zita finished off another Al Bhed cocktail, made by taking the worst of the bars beer and mixing Al Bhed ingredients to the point that it would practically eat through the glass before it reached your lips. Zita had had about five or eight so far.

"Cu Argoth whats rybbahehk with dra boat? Ajanordehk otay?"

[Forever Zero]

OOC: Well I wasn't on, so I'm getting in my two cents worth. Yuna was never truly alone since Khimari proved he was so stealthy, and Auron was almost always around more visably. And at the moonflow, Khimari was roughly ten steps away from Yuna during that whole event.

OOC: And we don't have much to do until Celes advances the plot...

[Tenjin Matsukaru]

Argoth shot Zita a really funny look "its either english or Al Bhed, not both" Argoth served another couple of people before sitting down "so what were you trying to say?"

[Bite the Wax Tadpole]

"Just askin about the boat thats all. It's been docked but nobody else is comin out."

[Tenjin Matsukaru]

Argoth shrugged "They're probably gazing wide-eyed at the chocobos below deck. It makes no difference to me unless they come into this particular bar" Argoth got up and served another customer before returning behind the bar.

Raine heard the ringing of the ships bell as she climbed the stairs to the lower decks, signaling the ship had docked, "Oh. I guess that ship has docked." She said as she turned around, "We should get off before the captain thinks we're riding again, or causing trouble." she smiled, "It's alright, we can play with the chocobos on the next ship."
She climbed the stairs back up to the deck and stepped down the plank connecting the ship and the dock. She smiled as she breathed a deep sigh, "Ah, it's good to be home."

(OOC: good news (unrelated to the RP really,) but only 7% left to go in FFX-2, then I won't have a game to play anymore and I won't be so sparse with my posting! (which means, less waiting forever and a day before I move the story along. ^^ )
