I'd like to start a post dedicated to people simply talking about the greatness that is our founder of the Order of Crimson Magery, the Red Mage. Discuss...

What postive thing do I have to say about Red Mage?
Not a thing.
He's a goofy, dellusional, moronic asset to the Light Warrior team. I take great pleasure seeing his plans fail, his person abused with pointy sharp things, and wait patiently for his untimely death.
Of course, he won't be dead-dead, as Phoenix Down will be used to bring him back, but I wanna see the bugger die!!!! *Pouts*
So that, in a nutshell is what I like about Red Mage.

Red mage is a cool guy. He seems to be the least strange out of all the light warriors. I mean thief has some stealing issues, black mage is psychotic, and fighter... well... he has his problems too. Sure, red mage is a little carried away with the whole d&d stuff, but can you blame him. He seems to have the best sense of logic and usually doesn't do anything too stupid. Red mage is a very important member of the light warriors.
Wait...he is certainly strange. What about that dress? And all the random dice and sheet talking. All the light warriors are strange. He is still a good character, I enjoy his lousy, usually dice based, plans.

I don't like him...I should've been a light warrior.

Batman can't be a light warrior, he's the black (dark?) knight of the modern age, sheesh.

I personally like red-mage. He is the epitome of all nerd-dome when it comes to this comic. He has lots of inside dnd jokes that outsiders may not get... that's what makes him cool... he's one of use trapped in this comic... he does the light-warrior gig about the same way i do things in dnd... the plans in theory work... and how can you not like him? he's so versatile!! he can cast white AND black magic... and he likes swords! what more could one ask for? In short, :rmage: = god!

Bah. The only way RM got on the team was that he put all of his points on mind-control. BM is saving up for when both RM and Fighter are in a straight line( and when he has a Hodoken lying around somewhere).

I just find RM to be a little annoying. I laughted everytime RM got stabbed, crushed, ect. The only good thing that RM has on this site is his Twikin out section. RM sucks, BM forever.

Yes! That is the correct state of mind!!!
Actually, out of all the Light Warriors, RM was the one that made me luagh the most.

Red mage has the greatest potential for success. Because of his high versality, he is the only one capable of gaining experience fighting solo. Therefore, he doesn't actually NEED the other light warriors. BM needs people to stand in front of him, but RM can wear armor, weild a sword, heal himself, and blast his enemies all at the same time.

I didn't think that this forum would go for so long. Cool.
Red Mage owns you all. RM would also beat BM up in a fight. Consider that BM has only one Haduken a day and seems to use in as soon as he can. After that is gone BM has no advantage on RM and RM has all the knowledge on the mechanics of the world to simple counteract all of BM's lesser spells.
So there.
RM forever!

RM is brilliant! You really have to play Tabletop RPGs to appreciate him I guess, but if you play a variety of computer/console RPGs you may recognise some too.

Daring Comander... So you are daring... Do you think he would stand a chance against a correctly aimed Hadoken?

Hmmm... Lets Try?
BM:*aiming right to the head*HADOKEN
RM:*dodge* hey, yo wuz up trips bm and causes stabity death.
Fighter: WHY? Kills RM.
So you see even if the aim was correct i could still dodge.
-Red Mage :rmage:
PS: the fighter thing was just for fun.

One problem with the fighter thing.... Red Mage would have an extra sword handy to distract fighter and then blame the death of black mage on someone/something less... and then take in fighter as HIS patsy... :rmage: = god

I wanted to be Red Mage for Holloween. I tried so hard. I found the PERFECT hat. I swear to God If there really was a red mage he'd WEAR THAT HAT. But I couldn't find a cloak so I called it off. Sigh. I tried oh great and mighty master. I tried.

uhm... red mage only claims to be versatile... he's just a doofus in red with a penchant for cross-dressing.... he doesn't fight... he doesn't cast useful spells... he's just lump...

I don't think any of them fight, besides fighter. The nuking of Black Mage doesn't count. I can nuke anyone, it's not fighting, just blowing it up.

Aprantly George Bush thinsk blowing up is fighting >.>
Anywho RM is one of the most consitantly funny characters in 8B. Even his cross dressing is always a good laugh and he always has a comeback... whether it wil lmake sence or have any revelance to what happened is another matter.
Plus he wears that cool hat. If i had one id wear it everywhere!

Red Mage truly is versatile... he has black and white magic and can use swords... he only appears to be useless... he comes up with great plans (it's not his fault everyone else messes them up), he has black magic and white magic, and he likes swords... he doesn't use the swords because fighter already has that covered... he doesn't cast spells because that would mean he'd lose that spell for the day, ultimately making him less versatile... he could come through in a pinch.... and what about the dwarf-burning? Was it not Red Mage who cast the illusion spell that makes all the dwarves think the light warriors are just other dwarves? Red Mage is easily the most versatile!!!

RM is a statmongering fool who couldn't fight his way out of a wet paper bag! WM is a better fighter then he will ever be (its pretty close to the truth too!) lets not forget the lord of annihilating small, furry animals out of existance and stabbing people in the spine BM!

I think that Red Mage is a really funny character. When he was introduced, I didn't really care for him much (in part because I've never played Dungeons and Dragons), but he's grown on me. It's great to see a neurotic character in the group.

Yeah I have never played D&D, and yet Red Mage is my favorite character, for some reason. Maybe its the way he conseves his inventory, or tries to keep sane but will soon explode from the bottled anger. Or maybe just because he red. It's one of those reasons, and more!

The Dnd references are sooo much funnier if you actually play the game. I need his hat! It's so madly cool! It must be mine! I've also decided that RM is definitly a Mystic Theruge in DnD
red mage can do ANYTHING as long as the dice roll correctly.
in other words, after a roll that goes well, he is a god, if the roll, however, goes poorly, he becomes the biggest wimp in eternity.
He also has a ton of random items for any situation which can be brought out at any time to come to his aid, as long as he rolls well. (he had silver weapons when they faced werewolves, and had some other random stuff here (http://www.nuklearpower.com/daily.php?date=030816) to get them out of their predicament)
It is literally all a matter of luck with him.
If thief was smart (not saying he isn't, but it is suprising he hasn't thought of this), he would steal RM's dice and replace them with loaded ones. Natural 20's all around, and suddenly RM is the most powerful member of the team!

Red Mage and Garland are the best characters in 8BT.
Red Mage is awesomely awesome. Only lesser beings would deny his greatness.

What would happen if RM lost his dice. GASP! What would become of him? Or worse! THE WORLD! OR WORSE! HIM!
um, red mage probably always keeps spare dice.
he would have to be prepared for that sort of thing.

Or, he would write in a 'dice maker' attribute to his charectar sheet, and within a few minutes he would make a new pair out of theif's shoes (damn elves and their shoes)

well for me, it's only two pages. I think the mods might lock it up when it becomes two off topic, or when it becomes 4 pages with 30 posts pre page, which ever comes first.

With as much a DnD nerd he is he prolly has enough dice to lose one a day for months, maybe years.

Red Mage has best chance in a fight besides Fighter against Black Mage.
Fighter is too stubborn to die, so he'll survive the Hadoken and then Bm would be in trouble, but Fighter wouldn't attack his best freind.
Red Mage has nothing stopping him, first he puts every point of stat into Dexterity raising it to max. So he easily dodges Hadoken/most spells like Bolt if BM tries it. Then replacing all the stat points defeats Bm with a few strokes of his Saber.
By golly, if Red Mage knew he was immortal, he'd rule the world!

Thanks to whoever pointed out that one plan of RMs that did, in fact, work. Now that RM knows how to do that, nothing can stop him. Look for his new BST skills to save them all in the future.

I like RM, but can't explain why. He's compitent when he focuses and lets himself be, which, so far, has only been in escaping the flaming airship wreck. He leaves too much to chance which is why he's failed so often.

Rm is just really (over)confident and knows his value... He is just great...And of course gotta be a true man to wear dress while saving the world (or atleast do something like that)

The correct Attire of a True Man is a Kilt, not a dress...
(If it isn't Scottish, its Crap!)
But Rm really could do better, he is learning though. So far he's used his spells a lot more frequently. I wonder which spells he even has...

I can't really decide between Red Mage and Black Mage. RM is certainly more comical, but I like BM's sarcasm. I think BM could easily cause RM's clothing to fuse with his bones, but RM would be the one to make it funny. I identify with both of them - I'm a DnD nerd... sort of... and my school's environment is rather conducive to stabbity urges. But Red Mage indubitably deserves a thread devoted to his greatness.
