Sorry sorry, i know the title is a little mean... i just couldnt avoid the pun.

Do you remember Saber Rider? (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bjYULnCWQa4&feature=channel)

How about Dorvack? (which was btw the first anime i've ever seen) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1E3iLD_Imzs)

It's fucking Zillion!! (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N7FMinLBEYU)

And ofcourse, Voltron (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f9C2YLVaSBw)

I kinda miss this type of Product Driven Crappy shows... they were all pretty cool in their own rights (Plus, Transformers "stole" 2 Machines from Dorvack)... what scares me the most is the possibility that someday someone will pick these up for movie Adaptations...

Wouldnt you watch Saber Rider on the big screen?

And yeah, Dai Guren is over the top... but c'mon, Macross/Robotech has been doing it for ages... and yeah, i know this last clip is rather new... But i would watch this on the Big Screen in a heartbeat... (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-VKTTNYySzs)

So, let's Vintage away (im not sure i used the term right...)

"Vintage" isn't a verb, but the creative license with language inherent in a non-professional internet post makes your usage of it as one acceptable. That's just my opinion.

And I started watching anime in middle school, so I have nothing to add until we start talking about DBZ.

my anime Path went (picking the best of each "evolution" in the line) Dorvack - Saint Seiya - Shurato - Sailor Moon - Detonator Orgun - Samurai Warriors - Dragonball Z - Samurai X - Gundam - Bleach.

There is quite a bt of treasure in the oldies if you like to check that kind of thing... it's hard to find, but sometimes it's like checking out an old movie that you never saw when it was "new'

Are they using J-Pop as a power source?

Candy Candy was a heartfuck. :(

This thread needs more Los Súper Campeones love.

Los Caballeros del Zodiaco, fuck yeah Los Caballeros del Zodiaco.

I loved Mikami. I still remember the theme song.

Dragon Ball and Ranma 1/2 were my childhood.

The best Digimon were the first and third seasons. Fourth was okay, second sucked.

And more stuff when I get unbusy!

RT, I take it you saw the second and third in Spanish. Have you also seen them in English? If so, do you think the quality of the dubs/subs is better in either one in particular?

I actually got my start on the late late long ago Cartoon Network predecessor to what might eventually someday possibly after years of evolution become Adult Swim: Random Anime not for kids once a year or some crap.

Akira
Vampire Hunter D
Galaxy Train 999
etc.

I saw Akira a few months ago and that was pretty rad. Still haven't gotten around to watching Vampire Hunter D. I haven't actually seen too much old school anime as I haven't seen quite as much anime as I'd like to with how much I like it. I'll get partway into most shows and be all, fuck this I'll go watch that show I've seen a million times and still love.

I suddenly occurred to me that I used to wake up early on Sundays to watch anime movies on Sci-fi channel. However, I don't remember any of them, so I still have nothing to discuss.

I feel like Neon Genesis Evangelion is under-appreciated for its camp value. It's got just as much old-school cheese as it does pretentiousness.

Vision of Escaflowne is the oldest anime I've watched all the way through, and I still love it to bits.

You might not be happy if you ever do get to the ending.

Also, things that are better than Naruto is a pretty damned large category.

I don't know if this is technically Anime, but if we're having a contest to see who can come up with the absolute paradigm an old, campy cartoon that despite being so cheesy that Pizza Hut wouldn't sell it, was still better than ninety percent of the garbage they peddle nowadays, I win:

Everything listed in my post was seen in Spanish. I've watched some anime in English, and I have to say the Latin American dubs are much, much better.

Or rather, were. I haven't watched much anime in Spanish during the last decade.

I just finished the original Gundam movies.

Newtype > Coordinators. Or Innovators. Or whatever.

Now, continuing my sojourn into UC Gundam, what series should I look into first: one of the OVAs, or Zeta Gundam?

Also: simultaneously watching Turn-A Gundam. Harry Ord > all masked Gundam men. The only one who can come close to competing is Mr. Bushido.

For me Gundam Wing is what actually got me into anime. But looking back I was watching it before I realized I was with things like Ronin Warriors. I can remember always being so frustrated that I couldn't watch it when I started grade school because I had to go to the bus stop for school. So I'd get to see like the first five minuets before having to run out to catch the bus. But at that age, Power Rangers sufficed once I got home (wasn't nearly as cool though).
