Why? Because I thought this (http://drmcninja.com/page.php?pageNum=9&issue=14) was one of the funniest strips I've seen in awhile

Holy shit the latest one was amazing. Dr McNinja is the only comic besides 8-bit Theater that I check religiously.

The latest comic is, again, raising the bar of pushing the envelope. Thomas Jefferson is such a badass time traveller he could predict he'd be in the comic and wink at the reader!

Well, after hearing Fifth praise it for so long, I finally started reading it.

And he is certainly a doctor who is also a ninja who trained with Batman. Who is also funny.

(Also, love the alt texts as commentary.)

Now to read the rest!

I really dig the art at the bottom of this page. (http://drmcninja.com/page.php?pageNum=41&issue=14) It's been great seeing the progress of the artists as the comic has gone on.

The Wandering God

You know the forum specifically provides a place where you can have it automatically put a certain signature on every single one of your posts, right? You don't have to keep typing that.

ONTOPIC: Doctor McNinja is completely outrageous, but I have to say that my favorite comic was and always will be the moment that Mr. McNinja shot poison out of his eyes at the Wizard Ghost.

I'm having trouble finding it [read: I don't feel like going through the whole archive, since I can't recall the actual comic it was in], but there's one where he says something along the lines "if my mom could see what I was doing now." They regularly are as amusing as the comic.

This (http://drmcninja.com/page.php?pageNum=43&issue=14) is probably the funniest page of the current issue. Partly because I got the referance. Incidently, I did see the episode he talks about in the alt text, it was indeed hilarious

I find it hilarious that the people who made the temple don't even know what the deal is with their own creations anymore. It just "Fuck it, you're on yer own now."

At least I think it's the creators that are leaving these taped notes.

Yes, the notes are left by the Marines (they said Marines, right?) who have to die each time they need to bring in a new champion.

The people who bring in the champion need to be more genre-savvy like Dr. McNinja.

It really seems like the kind of thing they'd do.

What remains to be seen is whether the entire thing was made up or not. Judging from everything we've been shown, the champion himself seems to take it seriously (first few pages) so I'm saying the doom machine is truly full of doom if the tennis champ doesn't do his thing.

Remember how in Death Volley's secret epilogue (http://drmcninja.com/page.php?pageNum=72&issue=14) King Radical says he taught the Inoctek's their language? And thus implying that King Radical was either very old or had access to time travel?

I don't know what kind of connection this could mean, but I think it's highly relevant.

Spoilers? I guess? (And conjecture.)

The antiques dealer once enslaved a unicorn.

The unicorn later became a bike?

King Radical is scared that Dr. McNinja has made connection to the bike/unicorn.

King Radical knows who the antiques dealer is??? Could they be... brothers? *dun dun dun*

That bike is obviously evil. It's trying to get Dr. McNinja to kill the previous rider through a bullshit dream.

It's already pushed him to destroy The Dew by murdering a ton of people. King Radical is scared shitless of the bike. This is not a nice bike!

Today's strip is pretty odd. So King Radical is definitely some kind of bad gangster (remember his lobster enforcer guy), but yet, he does all these good things for the community - investing in all sorts of beneficial businesses, creating jobs, building quality of life.

What's the motivation? How does the unicorn/bike/possessing devil fit in to this?

Turning into a motorcycle was explained in another comic as his other form being too radical for this world. Let's assume that much was true.

For how it got there in the first place, I assume there was an earlier version without any time travel.
[Sparklelord gets thrown into portal in Radical Land and arrives in our world.] -> [Some story that we know nothing about because time changed afterwards] -> [Sparklelord ends up in portal, but this time the unpredictable nature means that it just throws him through time instead of to another world, changing the past] -> [Loop we see starts].

Regular timeline -> time travel -> stable time loop is usually how ontological paradoxes (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ontological_paradox) are explained as originated.

What I don't understand is: assuming Sparklelord retains his memory after the time warp, why would he effectively allow himself to make the same mistakes all over again?

You see, multiversal theory in and of itself strongly implies that if Sparklelord were sent back in time in this fashion, he'd simply be able to create a new reality in a new universe completely different than the one he was sent from. In being sent to the past, Sparklelord's subsequent decisions (made under his own free will) would simply create a new timeline, one in which presumably he'd be able to outsmart King Radical and/or Dr. McNinja because he'd know exactly what they'd be up and he'd plan accordingly. Sparklelord wouldn't actually influence our universe -- from Dr. McNinja and King Radical's perspective, once Sparklelord is thrown into the void, absolutely nothing would change. But in an alternate universe's 'present day,' Sparklelord would probably be kicking ass and taking names.

Thus, this page is simply a poor rendition of multiversal physics. Assuming Sparklelord wouldn't have lost his memory (and clearly he at least remembers his life in the fantasy universe he spawned from), this would be a blessing for him, not a curse.

I have a feeling this one's going to end with King Radical sinisterly laughing like the villain he truly is.

KNEW IT!!!
Oh man I deserve extra credit for that one.

Why should he? The only one stuck in the loop is Sparklelord.

Ah, yeah, you're right.
I forgot that that's how time loops work.

Also goddammit King Radical stop being so damn rad you'll give me a heart attack.

Well, that was a kick in the head. I really did buy the whole "Sparklelord is evil" line.

I get the feeling that either the both of them are evil, or Radical's "He was right" line referred to the "And you'll never get him without me!" line.

I mean Radical did singlehandedly revitalize Cumberland's economy, so he can't be terrible.

Hm, I've missed the last few updates. Nice to catch the whole climax in one sitting. One comment about the alt text about church bells: That's the sneakiest reference I can recall seeing in the comic and I'm so proud of myself for getting it.

Sparklelord excerts a corrupting influence just like the Venom symbiote in Spider-man. Which Spidey defeated by sticking himself in a bell tower. DAMN I'M GOOD. Okay that's enough Ace Ventura for this year.

Yes, that was a great alt text, especially since this topic had made the comparison to symbiotes a few pages before. Glad to see he had the same image in mind and conveyed it so subtly to us.
