View Full Version : What's The Opposite of All Those FAIL Threads? I Think It's The Scott Pilgrim Casting

Oh man. (http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/hr/content_display/film/news/e3i30fd5ce301fd7727c88a624725fe1ee1)

It's honestly like the casting for every other comic book property has been so horrendous because there's a limited amount of greatness in the cinematic world and it has been quietly funneled into this movie. I was honestly happy enough just with Michael Cera, but you go and throw Mae "Katara/Ann/Her?" Whitman in there and I'm ecstatic, without even mentioning how well they've casted the other exes.

And it's still all being directed by Edgar "Spaced/Shaun of the Dead/Hot Fuzz" Wright. Literally the only thing I don't like about the pre-production of this movie is that it didn't happen a few months ago so I could be watching the movie now.

This actually sounds pretty funny, and I enjoyed both Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz...this is definitely on my watch list. I suppose I'll have to look into the comics as well...

I'm slightly worried that Michael Cera will be playing his usual character, a character who is quite distinctly not Scott Pilgrim. Aside from that everything about the movie seems terrific, except possibly the script. Every preview of the draft script or supposed leak seems to say that it gets horribly rushed as they cram in every single ex into a single movie, and it seems there's a good chance it ends with Scott getting back with Knives.

Man, I must have giant Michael Cera blinders on because when I first heard he would be Scott it just seemed perfect. Have you seen the web series he made? I think if he channeled that sort of vibe it'll be even more perfect.

As to the rushing thing, on the one hand I don't know how well it'll work, and on the other I can't help but think that not a lot actually happens in any Scott Pilgrim book so keeping only the best lines and having a stream of ex-fights will either be really great or kinda mediocre.
