...by the Razzies for a special prize for "worst career acheivement" as "Germany's answer to Ed Wood"

"It's pretty insulting to Ed Wood . Although Wood didn't understand how to splice two frames together, there was a joy of incompetence in his work," John Wilson(founder of the Razzies) said. "Uwe Boll's like our Meryl Streep . As long as he continues to work, he will get nominated, just like Meryl Streep does with those other awards."

EDIT: Uwe Boll also had four Razzie nominations this year: Worst Film - In the Name of the King: A Dungeon Siege Tale; Worst Director - "1968: Tunnel Rats" and "Postal"; Worst Supporting Actor - Cameo appearance in "Postal"; Worst Screen Couple - Ewe Boll and "any actor, camera or screenplay".

Yeah, Plan 9 From Outer Space is enjoyable in an absurd fashion ("We used Cadillac hubcaps for flying saucers in that"), but Uwe Boll isn't even really enjoyable in that way, either.

I can't tell if Boll was spending this time trying to do the games justice legitimately, if he was trying to make a B-movie that gets him famous for being absurd, or if he was trying to make intentionally bad movies for humor.

In any case, he failed at all of them horribly, so there is that.

The Razzies may be a joke, but I still feel the need to call them a joke. I never liked the way they nominated that kind of bullshit.

Mirai, he does get all his money back through a loophole in Germany's taxes. I have to believe one of the latter movies was his reason.

And this is Uwe we're talking about...

Uwe Boll has actually more or less answered this question directly. As I recall, his answer is that they were easy titles to acquire that he figured would draw a lot of people so he could make lots of money. I'm pretty sure he even said he never played the games.

Did. That doesn't work anymore, which is why he's had to go back to independant films.
