I was linked to this video when it suddenly dawned on me (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z_byn6y38SQ&fmt=18). Hell, even the Leprechaun series had one in outer space. Didn't Friday the 13th jump the moon too?

I think it's because for a while there, and even still to some extent, space was the New Frontier. It was this magical land that was exotic and frightening, where anything could happen.
Also, ripping off Alien probably had something to do with it.

Our obsession with outer space comes from various factors. It represents a lot of mystery, freedom, and technology, an open, seemingly endless void dotted with stars and planets like our own: little encapsulated bodies the could be holding little people like us who look up at the night sky and wonder the same things as we do. Like Kingdom Hearts, worlds filled with life, but no knowledge of each other, waiting to discover or be discovered.
...
I can't believe that I just got all poetic and then used Kingdom Hearts as an example. XD
But my point still stands. Space represents everything our own little planet doesn't. Even though we know more about the surface of the moon than the bottoms of our own oceans, our world is limited where space isn't (at least for practical purposes). We'll run out of planet to explore long before the same happens with outer space.

Who could imagine that franchises based entirely on retarded cliches would perpetuate themselves by stooping to retarded cliches!
Also it's worth noting that the Leprechaun series' space movie even happened before its best and most ridiculous installment, Leprechaun in the Hood.
Although goddammit, I'm still waiting for them to make Leprechaun's Carribean Cruise.
...See it's like Leprechaun meets the cast of MTV's The Real World. But on the ocean!

The Leprechaun then sings a Rap song while the credits roll.
Yes, this. This is what all movies need.

Fifth beat me to it.
Did Jason or Freddie ever go to the Hood? That's what I really want to know.

Show me in the rules where it says dogs can't go into outerspace.
Also, I think something's wrong with me because I really wanted to hate the fact that a dog said 'dawg' twice in a 90 second trailer, but it's a damn cute dog.

Nothing. Laika is famous for a reason.

I was more bewildered by the random "fo'shizzle".

Don't think Police Academy has made it to space yet.

I know what I'm getting my friend for her birthday.
Also, I can think of quite a few comic book made movies made it to space (so far, I don't think Batman's gone there).

They have Steve Guttenburg, that's close enough.
