Well, not really, but you should buy it anyway goddamnit.
If you've never played Skate before, it's a skateboarding sim with more emphasis on realisim than the Tony Hawk series. Don't expect to do ridiculous 90 foot ollies and then grind 3 miles of rail here. Tricks are controlled mostly with the new FlickIt system, which uses the right stick to perform flips, grinds, manuals and other tricks. The triggers control your skater's left and right hands, and a couple of the face buttons control your dude's left and right feet. It's tricky at first, but the game provides tutorials and also has a trick list with demonstrations for you to look up at any time.
Game flow is sandbox style. There are challenges to complete, and a lot of them, but you're free to just chill out and skate San Vanelona whenever you want.
As for Skate 2? Well, it's everything Skate 1 was, and more. For example...
-You can get off the board this time! Great for getting up stairs, and now you can push objects around to make your own lines.
-You can now have one foot off the board, allowing for new tricks such as inverts, no complys, footplants and fingerflips.
-You can be a girl!
-The city from the first game, San Vanelona, has been entirely remixed, with old spot favourites and new places to skate being introduced.
-Now you can grab objects, allowing you to make your own lines, as well as "skitch", or grab cars to increase your speed.
-Now you're scored for bails, with a "Hall of Meat" that rewards you for bailing with style. You can even force bails and twist and pose your skater around in mid air for the gnarliest bails you can think of.
-60fps and decreased loading times for almost seamless skating.
-And last but not least, something that passes for an actual story!
Not only all of this, there are also extensive online features, including the ability to instantly grab and edit replays of your best lines and most painful bails, and upload them to skate.Reel, EA's Skate replay site, to show off to the world. There's also multiplayer features such as online freeskate that can be accessed at any time ingame. Even better, now you can make your own graphics for your skater's clothes, hats and decks on EA's Graphics Creator (http://skate.ea.com/graphicscreator/gallery.action) and download them into the game to use.
Interested? There's a demo out on PSN and XBL right now, and the game itself is also out now.
