View Full Version : Repo: The Genetic Opera
So, just finished watching it, and I have to say, I'm kinda divided on how I feel about it. It's delightfully over-the-top, and some of the songs are quite catchy. It's got this whole style to it that I kinda dig. On the other hand, some of the songs weren't quite as catchy, and it just left a weird taste in my mouth that I'm not sure if I like or not yet.
Also, the grave robber is a fucking awesome narrator type guy.

I had listened to some of the songs a while ago and I thought it seemed really neat, so I was bewildered by the overwhelmingly negative reviews. Then I saw the movie, and it turned out the songs I had listened to were the only good ones, and the movie was terribly executed.
But yah, I really enjoyed the style, and some of the music, and the grave robber was awesome.
There were lots of really cool things about this, and lots of bad things. On the whole it could've been better, but I don't exactly regret watching it.

Part of why I liked it in spite of its flaws is just the idea behind it. As someone who, in middle school, cowrote the most horribly abysmal musical of all time, a fusion of "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" and Jonathan Swift's A "Modest Proposal," I just can't say no to a movie like "Repo."
One thing that bothered me was people mocking the casting of Paris Hilton. She played played the spoiled junkie plastic surgery addicted bitch daughter of a millionaire. That's perfect casting.
I like Blind Mag's song at the end. Plus I absolutely love the little "Reeeeepo Maaan!" thing that get's sung out in a couple parts. "Thankless Job" also made me laugh.
