Personally, I did not enjoy the books. While all books are certainly influenced by the author's philosophy, the Sword of Truth was like a sledgehammer to the head. Repeated every several chapters.

He comes across pretty heavy sometimes, what I'm saying.

He was doing well in the first and second book...

But when he got to Blood of the Fold, it ALLLLLL went to crap. After the Jagang thing got so overloaded in book 6, I didn't even finish the series.

Watching the TV show is one of those times you just go "why bother?"

There's a few main differences in that they're expanding on the side adventures of Richard Cypher before he's Lord Rahl, but there's nothing tying the story down right now. Maybe some small Big Bads but still...

First couple were totally off in the right direction, but after Richard inherited the fiftieth power and title, pumped silly philosophies ("CUT! Above all else, kill shit! CUT!", and that's to say nothing of the limp-wristed objectivism), lacquered it on with enough rape to make Miller scratch his head, and that's not even to say anything about the godawful forced 'drama' he throws in, let alone the 'resolutions', I was done.

I read them all back when I was a teenager, thought they were pretty good, which is funny because looking back I don't think I even really remembered all the rape rape rape rape he did.

The Confessors power was there along with the Quads to take care of that. All in Day one with Kahlan.

I'm just kinda pissed that the magic wasn't expanded on and it became the All Important Febreze for fighting. It's better than Swordchucks!

I know I'm getting kinda derisive...

But damn, Iolaus has "Kenny McCormick" written all over him with the last few seasons. And Hercules still remains champion of the world with no defeats.

This show is a decent way to waste an hour. The most recent episode hinged entirely on whether or not this baby was going to get drowned, and Richard was all like "NO!" and the Mother Confessor Chick was all like "YES!" for about an hour. Zeddicus flamethrowered lots of people, though. Of course there was a completely perfect solution devised for the evil baby so it could live which was of course totally unrealistic.

Also, what was up with the chick getting pregnant off of the assassin who is her mind-slave? Was I the only one who saw anything slightly unethical in that? Everyone else was just like "YAY THAT IS SO GREAT."
