They've had live action shows on the network before. The people on Toon Zone bitched about it, nobody watched them, and they were taken off the air. This really isn't anything new and it certainly isn't "the end of Cartoon Network as we know it!"

I was about to go all :O because of the graphic saying Ben 10 will go live action, but then I saw that it was only about the movie, which I already knew of and pretend doesn't exist.
Shush... I like watching aliens fight.

Highlights: The Othersiders is a mini-Ghost Hunters, with five friends exploring scary places; Destroy Build Destroy is like Human Wrecking Balls, with two teams blowing stuff up; Dude, What Would Happen is a Mythbusters clone; Bobb'e Says takes the ridiculously funny child actor Bobb'e J. Thompson (Human Giant, Role Models) in his own take of America's Funniest Home Videos.
Um.
Huh.
Well at least there's no Kids' Survivor thing.

Yeah although the purpose of that title I put up was to point out the cartoon network is indeed changing there name. As to what it's going to be they havn't told us yet but chances are we'll find out this summer.
Personally I feel that CN is giving up on cartoons because they them selves have failed or believe that they've failed, to really bring a lot of good animated shows to the table and decided "Hey since we're not doing too well with cartoon ideas lets try reality shows.".

Another token in the "why cable is failing" pile.
Really, the concepts for the new shows are sound, but I don't think they can be pulled off. Why? Current network execs hardly get adult audiences, They will certainly miss the mark with kids shows.
Now, if this were early 90's era Nickelodeon, they could work very well. They knew how to put together entertaining shows that weren't patronizing. This isn't just nostalgia speaking out, I can still watch those shows and genuinely enjoy them. I can't do that with a lot of current kid's programming. It's all too patronizing, especially the live ation stuff.
On the other hand, new Gennedy Tartakovsky show, Sym-Bionic Titan (http://news.toonzone.net/image.php?imageID=4997&___r=%2Farticles%2F29112%2Fanimation-news-from-the-2009-cartoon-network-upfront-updated-1257-pm-with-images). And they did get Flapjack and Chowder very right. There's still hope. They could still beat the odds.

Okay, I did not see anything in the article you posted that even suggests that. Did you get that from a different source?

Yay! Gennedy Tartakovsky and giant robots!
Good to see him back in cartoons, but I have to wonder... where the hell's that Dark Crystal sequel he was supposed to have been working on? I want my muppets.

Gendle Tarkatendle should team up with Greg "I can spell his name" Wiseman to create The Greatest Cartoon In History.
It will get canceled after like half an episode, but it will be the greatest fifteen minutes in the history of storytelling.

It's kind of hinted in the article.

You mean that bit about it not really being a "cartoons only channel" anymore? That's not really hint towards a name change.

Besides, an article 'hinting' at it means "WE ARE TOTALLY GUESSING ABOUT THIS DUDEZ". They will blatenty state something like "Cartoon Network even talked of a future name change in the works" or "Cartoon Network also hinted at a rebranding" or something that lies the namechange on Cartoon Network itself.Gendle Tarkatendle should team up with Greg "I can spell his name" Wiseman to create The Greatest Cartoon In History.

I just saw an ad on it involving a lot of images from things that happened in the last few decades - involving the moon landing, the WTC disaster, the tsunami, a statue of Dolly and more - all with a voice-over involving something along the lines of "the history of making fiction because real life wasn't interesting enough. We've been blinded, unable to see how life grew more and more interesting and now it's as fantastic as fiction." The new name, over here at least? Infinito. Portuguese fo- Oh no, I'm not telling what it stands for. It shouldn't be needed.
