I was skimming movie trailers on the tube a little bit ago and came across this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q2ECrNdW9ms&feature=related). Anyone know anything about it? The release date on the movie said April 1st 2009 and since I hadn't heard anything about it before now I was assuming that it was just an IGN April Fools Day joke. But on the off chance that I am wrong....

Also, wouldn't it be fun if this wasn't a joke? Mario got a movie, it's only fair that Link get one too.

It was a joke, played on April Fool's of last year. I guess a LoZ movie would be cool, but I don't see it happening any time soon.

It WAS an IGN April Fool's Joke.Right, which was where I was leaning when I said this....

since I hadn't heard anything about it before now I was assuming that it was just an IGN April Fools Day joke.

....which covered the part of time I hadn't heard anything about it (joke or otherwise) until just recently and though it would be fun to talk about if it would be fun to do even if it weren't a joke (and to maybe see if anyone knew if someone actually picked this up as a real movie what with all the comic/video game movies that are making it big these days).

Well either way it looks like the shittiest movie ever.

Well either way it looks like the shittiest movie ever. That's what people said about the Mario movie and yet some of us still watch it. >_>

Well the potential for so bad it's good might be there. I mean, I have watched the Mario movie...Can't really claim I still watch it, but yeah.

You're kidding me, right? For a video game movie it looks pretty great. Except for Gannondorf's look.

No, Tomb Raider trailers probably looked pretty great for a video game movie. I cringed several times while watching the trailer, and I work in an environment with painful movie trailers playing on loop so you'd think I would be acclimatized.

I guess for a fake trailer it's a pretty decent effort, but they still could have done better.

Now this is a spoof trailer that looks like it'd be an awesome movie. (http://www.funnyordie.com/videos/06b666ae72/gobstopper-trailer) I mean, CHRISTOPHER LLOYD!

I'd watch it. It's still a better concept than about 99% of other "horror" movies.

The trailers from Grindhouse (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sPmL_W96l80&feature=related) are still some of the best, though, with Machete (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W8cCzltPD6Y) topping the list.

A Zelda movie could work if you like, redesigned all the characters and introduced more of a plot than "visiting elemental temples", and the main character didn't really solve any puzzles. I.e. it wouldn't be a Zelda movie.

There's actually many deterministic themes in the story, as well as all the elements of the epic. If someone tried, they could actually make a movie out of it.

It's like a lottery ticket. Usually it's a waste of a few bucks, but what if you won?

Whoa, whoa, whoa. In a Zelda movie, Link better solve some damned puzzles! Like, maybe an Indiana Jones style temple with some puzzles and more action, but still.

It ain't Zelda without puzzles.

And this puzzle.

But he'd have to be fighting Stalfos with his sword in one hand and the torch in the other.

Speculation about Zelda movies is so passé. It's all about Ace Attorney nowadays!

Christian Bale as: Phoenix Wright, Miles Edgeworth, the Judge Whitney, and Mia Fey.

Naw, for Edgie it's gotta be Tom Cruise.

Isn't that Tom (batshit insane) Cruise though?

Edit: I could see Tom Cruise pulling off Phoenix with the huge pointing finger and jumping up and down in the court room over-dramatically. Wouldn't be too much of a stretch.

I'm pretty sure it's Christian Bale, doubly so given Mirai's comment. Also, Angelina Jolie for Mia Fey. And Big Boss as the judge.

A good Zelda movie would be about a young man WITHOUT a love interest or a quirky personality (also mute) who is sent by his village into the bigger world on a fairly minor errand...only to stumble into a Hyrule in Chaos, with the King and Queen Killed, the castle in ruins, and Princess Zelda missing.

The main antagonist (for the majority of the movie) who seeks to use the special powers of the princess to open a way into a realm of Power, and use this power to conquer the world and remake it as he chooses. This antagonist is quick to use others for his schemes, and manages to dupe Link into venturing into a single dungeon to defeat 3 great monsters to rescue the princess, and in doing so manages to get past all the barriers that only Link and Zelda could have gotten through.

At the bottom of the dungeon, he attempts to have his men kill them both so he can access the lair of power. In order to defeat the two mercenaries he hired, a quickly unarmed Link pulls out an old and rusty blade from a podium and only just barely defeats them.

The blood that pours from their bodies takes the form of runes that break through the barrier without Zelda's powers, and releases a Spectral Pig demon that explains that it had set up these current events as the seal that imprisoned it weakened over time. The realm of "power" was actually it's prison (as the owner of the triforce of power) and it had tricked him into sowing discord amongst the land as he made his bid for power, so that the Demon could have enough strength to escape.

The only flaw was that he hadn't killed Zelda and Link, who were the only people who could keep him sealed, and since he doubted the Antagonist even stood a chance against them, would now act on his own. "You do not possess power, unless you can do things on your own."

He devours the man, and as the screams die and a malevolent red burst of magick, Ganondorf Dragmire is reborn.

He draws a sword, and moves to attack Link and Zelda, and in the beginning of the fight, Link is easily no match for the man, so they flee out of the cave, being chased by an Implacable Ganon back through all the traps (and as the dungeon starts caving in), and their escape is aided by the weakened guardians of the dungeon (nice job breaking it, hero).

In Hyrule field, they are not able to get far before Ganondorf bursts from the dungeon. Just as things begin to look bleak, the morning sun rises behind Link and Zelda, and hits the sword he found. Zelda, seeing the sword shine in the sunlight, realizes it for what it is, and calling upon ancient wisdom, blesses the blade, which suddenly regains it's splendor (and a white glow) and becomes yet again the sword of demon's bane: The master sword.

He fights Ganondorf in an Epic battle, which sets Hyrule Field ablaze and opens up fizzures into the underworld that hordes of moblins rise from to attack the citizens and aid their King.

Link finally manages to strike him down, only for him to rise up again as the giant Pig monster he truly is. This time, only with the aid of Zelda and the three spirits of the Dungeon Guardians, are they capable of sealing Ganon away.

As the dust settles, and the Kingdom begins to rebuild, Link is honored with a new tunic and hailed as a great hero...only for him to silently and wordlessly slip away when no one's looking to buy what he came to Hyrule for (some bags of seeds). He then rides off back into the countryside, with Zelda watching from the castle walls, back to his home.

The villagers are somewhat upset of course, that he took so long, but he's not one to explain himself.

Also, this is all animated, not live action. Live action SUX.

Yes.

Actually I think something like Wind Waker would work simply because the device of the ship gives an excuse for finding all these ancient ruins and stuff and having adventures, and for some reason the plot seemed to work on more of a plot level.. It doesn't have to be a talking boat, it can be a full-sized ship. With a wacky crew! Hollywood audiences like wacky crews. Also Twilight Princess seemed to be moving into the realm of having a more fleshed out plot, as well.

Also I like Pyros' plot outline, except Ganon needs to play more of a character role and not just the ancient demon they need to prevent from escaping. In my opinion.

Yeah, Ganondorf was fleshed out beyond just being evil, and because it needs reiterating: The King of Hyrule is a Jerk (http://hiimdaisy.livejournal.com/18211.html#cutid1).

I liked this thread more when it was about Ace Attorney:

And because it will inevitably get a trilogy:
