Seems like not a Retarded Lie Day joke to me:

You just have made my day. I thank you good sir.

Hell yeah. Gimme some Cless and Arche. Hell, any of the Destiny characters while you're at it.
But looks fun. I will pick this up if I can. Being the massive Tales fan I am. And Tales of Grace huh. I gotta look into that. I know someone who will throughly enjoy another game to her collection.

Tales of Graces - Wii - 2009
Character designs are by Inomata.
Disco Swordsman dude's name is Aspen Lant or some shit.
The theme of the game is protecting people, and the main character doesn't want to lose anyone ever again.
Vesperia PS3 has a new character -a loli pirate. I guess that justifies paying full price for a year-old port. Somehow.

Loli pirate? SIGN ME UP!
...I know that this may not be the place for me to editorialize, but FUCK THAT.
TALES OF VESPERIA SPOILER ALERT!
Tales of Vesperia was a great game -- one of my favorites last year -- which managed to plow through an incredible number of RPG cliches while introducing surprisingly mature thematic elements in a story that managed to be fresh, old, and sophisticated at the same time.
To say nothing of the voice acting, which is undoubtedly the best I've ever heard in a JRPG. Which is to say, I hate all children in every video game ever because their voices are attuned to the KILL center of my brain, but everyone else was great.
I am going to try my best to reserve judgment, but right now I feel as though my belief that Yuri Lowell is a badass was a huge lie. Dude hangs out with loli pirates, am I right?
I hate the soft-color cartoonish style that just about every single JRPG these days just absolutely has to have, but Vesperia managed to convince me that you could make a game where everyone looks like a Precious Moments figurine and then have them not suck to an astonishing degree.
...And it looks like I was mistaken...

Also, "Scamco"?

You've not heard of their DLC scams with Soul Calibur IV and Ace Combat? The term comes from those.
I'm mainly voicing my disapproval at the lack of Tales of Hearts and Tales of Innocence localisations.
I agree with the lack of many Tales game localizations. That issue must be rectified. I demand the localization of the Destiny remake and Destiny 2. Appease your fans Namco!
Thanks for the Graces info. Much appreciated. That dude looks like he belongs in the Disco era. Also, is it its own story or a sequal. I always heard rumors of an Abyss sequal, which is my favorite of the series, bar Luke Von Deuschbag at the beggining.
I just love the fact that Vesperia is getting the PS3 port. I always thought that the Playstation (1,2,3) was the true console for the series. But that's what I think.
And lawl to Scamco

Like Dissidia I think Tales of VS would be much better suited to a console release. Also I hope they don't make Dissidia's serious mistake and make you grind levels just to learn an entire moveset.

They will never surrender to your demands.

Man, another sweet-looking game I'll probably never get my hands on. If it wasn't for my intense love for some of my DS games, I would've gotten a PSP awhile ago.

From Famitsu's site (http://www.famitsu.com/blog/express/) (F5 link):
http://i40.tinypic.com/16byhyc.jpg
It seems the game will have thirty-five characters from thirteen Tales of games, meaning Phantasia, Destiny, Eternia, Destiny 2, Symphonia, Rebirth, Legendia, Abyss, Tempest, Innocence, Symphonia: Dawn of the New World, Vesperia and Hearts will be represented.
EDIT: http://to-vs.namco-ch.net/
The game will use the LMBS like previous games in the series. There will be various new action elements like walls, etc. Like in normal Tales games you have normal attacks and you equip skills. You gain Grade Points from battles and use them to customize the stats of your characters. Blahblahblah Original story mode Yggdrasil Battle Mode blahblahblah minigames crossover mobile contents blahblahblah go to hell Namco. Etc.
Also the game will feature brand new animation scenes from Production IG as well, and illustrations for all characters and cut-in portraits, etc.

I would be ok with customisation in a fighting game if you assign the points yourself and not just use standard levels. Also you had better start off with a decent moveset.

35 Characters out of 13 games, that means 2 characters per game + 9 characters.
Considering this, and the Radiant Mythology series, it wouldn't be unfair to say that Namco came trough with a couple of things that Squeenix never did.

What, exactly? It seems to me that it will be the same "main hero VS main villain" schtick of Dissidia with some fan favourites and maybe Asben from Graces.

what the hell at jerkface

Note how they refer to the game by its localised name. It probably means it will come overseas.

It's good to see Namco bringing stuff over. Now all they have to do is bring over all that awesome stuff they never did, which inspired international ire for them in the first place. (I kid, but really, they DID give themselves a reputation that's not going to die for years. If their older stuff was as much awesome in data form as their newer stuff (like people claim), you have to wonder if they just hated money at the time.)
Really, it's a cash-in, and while it might be nice, it's really not my thing. More of an RPG person than a kicker person.

Because they went the full 9 yards with their fan service. Instead of having just "main protagonist vs main antagonist", the just overpopulate the game with as much fan service as possible.
Imagine how Dissidia would be if Squeenix had 30/35 characters in it... or if they actually made a full blown RPG on the Dissidia Story having several characters from each FF game as playable... those are things that Squeenix isn't likely to do, but, would be awesome if they did. Thus why i hope they pick that on their radar and actually go make Dissidia 2 or some other crossover that dosen't revolve around Cloud.

...Is that Judas Leon? Huh. Where the heck is Cless?
...Why is there a lack of Eternia characters?
...This is confusing.

The Tales of Festival poster is not representative of anything in Tales of VS. I was just pointing out jerkface's... face.

Oooh.
...Well, what, you expected his face to be normal? He's a jerk. He even has long hair in the picture, despite the game's events.

Fuck yes, not a swordsman & mage orgy fest like Dissidia!!
Still, Kratos and Anise before Lloyd and Tear? That's weird.

I wonder if there'll be any characters from Legendia. It has lots of variety ( Senel uses his fists, Grune uses vases that shoot magic, Norma uses magic and bubble-blowing straws, Shirley uses stupidly powerful magic by drawing with quills and Moses goes around throwing spears enhanced with fighting spirit ) but isn't all that popular. Also, from Tales of Destiny 2 Eternia, we'll have...Reid and Meredy or Reid and Farah? Meredy would be fun, thanks to attacking with her pet alien furret, Farah punching and kicking everything while healing herself would also be good...But Reid is the protagonist, so it's not a choice if HE gets in.
...If it's for variety, though, Phantasia will be Chester ( one of the few bow-users of the Tales games ) and Suzu ( I don't remember any other playable ninja... ).

I'm wondering how spells are going to work. If they have a long charge time like in the main Tales games they'll be almost useless.

Hah, I was just gonna post those. :/
Loving what I've seen of Graces' heroine so far. Love Inomata's designs.
Wait, so VS is using the 2D Linear Motion Battle System despite the 3D graphics?!

Actually, that's was a joyous question. :3
There also seems to be some sort of full 2D mode. I saw Sheena Fujibayashi (Symphonia) and Cless Alvein (Phantasia) in it.

Well considering that the Tales series has used LMBS throughout all but a handful of its games and also considering that the LMBS was inspired by fighting games in the first place it makes sense for Versus to be how it is.

Even Abyss had largely linear movement in its 3D battles. You had to get a skill to let you do otherwise. It just was a matter of what enemy you were "in line" with.
