Oh wow. Can't say I expected that.
Does this set the tone for the series? Is it all just dark humour with a bit of schadenfreude mixed in? Because wow, I shouldn't be surprised with Brian Clevinger in the writer's seat, but when I first heard of the concept I was thinking that it would be just a robot who gets into zany, The Office style hijinks.
EDIT: But yeah, I'm really, REALLY impressed with the amount of emotion you can pull with a being that is unable to show any emotion.

As I understand it I think when Brian told Zack what to put on the screen, he curled his hands into fists and banged on the keyboard for a few minutes.

I actually thought Warbot was going to be rather one-note and boring, but, while it's the same joke here, "Warbot tries to fit in" it's somehow hilarious to me, but I have to wonder, how he can't type because of his claws, but his hands are sophisticated enought to build a robot with either a recorded voicebox or AI out of cannibalized radio parts. Art this point feel free to insert a "ur a nerd" joke here, as that's a lame question.

Plot holes aren't flaws if they're done purposefully for comedic effect.

Who's to say he didn't? Panels before we had Warbot shacking up with girls decades older than himself, got to keep the circle going.
Brian has always put a heavier focus on comedy than continuity.

This was great! Sad and reeeeeeally dark & creepy, but great! Also, another little gem from Zack (although i'm going to guess this one wasn't done on purpose...) Warbot has an apartment on the second floor?
BTW, i love ho you guys work Warbot's eye... when he gets an reponse from the dating service he looks at teh screen and then just kinda "gazes off" to the horizon, it feels kinda like a smile... and then, he creates the baby bot, he looks at it, and when it starts to get creepy he gazes off again, but this time it looks like "what have i done". i just love it!

The profile page, the second-story apartment, the failed offspring creation: all terrific and funny. The downside to this one for me was that immediately following the failed dating and profile deletion a mechanical automaton is seen purchasing electronics. I was thrown at first when he was constructing something.

At the risk of seeking external validation: is it wrong that I identify with the character of Warbot almost entirely, except that I'm made out of flesh instead of deathmachine? It certainly doesn't feel right. Like, I wish the strip would be canceled... but I sympathize completely with everything that Warbot does.
"Webcomics have never been so engagingly uncomfortable" would be a great ad line for this.

This is one of those instances where the author (probably) never wants to meet his character in real life because apart from the fact that him existing might be pretty cool, a genre savvy Warbot would totally find and destroy Brian.
Fun Fact: As I read this, I imagined Daft Punk remixing Queen's "Somebody to Love." And I cried.

No it's pretty obvious that's what I thought he was going to do with them. Which made the "Daddy" scene really, really weird at first.
I wouldn't really think of Warbot as having a sex drive, just wanting to be more "human" by having a family and such, though.

Yep, I never thought he'd have sex with the computers. Although one might wonder what you call it when he ends up making babies with them.
Speaking of calling it (http://forum.nuklearpower.com/showpost.php?p=912162&postcount=16), I totally did. Except I expected our dynamic duo to go with the traditional "bring your children to work day" and not go for the Portal reference. :p

I have yet to find Warbot actually laugh-out-loud funny. Actually, most of my reaction so far has been a sympathetic "aww." Poor guy (thing?) has a miserable little existence and nothing seems to go right for him. Basically, just like a real life spent in a cubicle.
Of course, it seems like I'm in the minority in my reaction, just browsing a couple of pages worth of responses. But then again, I also have experience in being both physically and socially awkward (was pidgeon-toed as a kid and moved a couple times).
Actually, the entire point of writing in any medium is to invoke a strong emotional reaction, and I have to say that my sympathy for Warbot is pretty strong, so it's all points to the good. http://forum.nuklearpower.com/images/icons/icon13.gif
